What An Anti Climax!

4 days of pain and agony, followed by 26 days of hard slog! Self deprivation and continual internal dialogue and debate - often heated. What did it all result in? What is worth it? I cannot believe I am saying this but this was the outcome - What An Anti Climax!

What The Dickens Am I Talking About?

Exactly! A 30 -Day detox that I have just completed! Yes, success because I made it! Last night was to be breaking the detox celebration meal. My initial thought was a toasted cheese sandwich and coffee for dinner! Nothing healthy about that, it would be given the opportunity to relish the toasted bread and melted cheese and coffee ... oooooh, coffee!!!!

Driving from church in the morning I saw a McDonald's billboard with a double chili cheese burger and chips on special. ON SPECIAL!!! That HAD to be for me, right?

That was it, decision made. I was going to have a juicy, piping hot McD's double chili cheese burger and chips and a delicious cappuccino after. Man, I couldn't wait!

Worked in the afternoon at a show house, only two viewers, neither interested in the property - who could blame them, it is a bit crummy, in need of repairs, tiny, no garden and a nasty pink colour complex! The first viewer was a newly qualified CA, this property was certainly not going to be a reflection of his recent accomplishments and status as a result.

The second was a couple with a small child who bounced off the walls, I kid you not, this little one was hyper on steroids! She hadn't even been given sugar, this is her normal state of being! A tiny place with no private garden was certainly not going to contain this little Tiger! Cute as a button but absolutely NO brakes! She even open the door on her poor mum as she was trying to take a quiet little bathroom break!

Slowly, Slowly ...

The remainder afternoon crawled by slowly, as it does when things are quiet and there is something to look forward to. That chili cheese burger and cappuccino becoming more and more appealing by the minute!

My mouth was watering in anticipating, sinuses feeling the sting of the chili and tongue softened by the melted cheese and juicy burger!

Creamy fragrant coffee just wafting its tempting aroma, I could almost have skipped the burger for the cappuccino only!

Finally, its time!

5pm arrives at last! In a hurry I close up the house, all the windows - wrestling with some of them as I go. Switch the power off at the mains, pack my chair, estate agents boards and paraphernalia into the car. Dash to meet the PA and drop off all the collateral.

NOW, OH YAY! It's time for that breaking the detox feast!

Driving to the McD's I realize, my mouth may be watering but my belly, nope, there's not interest in food there!

WHAT THE FRIKKADEL! How is this possible?

Casting my mind back to my hurriedly consumed lunch I realize the "problem". I had 3 paprika and butternut sausages with roasted veg for lunch. i was starving at the time because being on time for the boys and church is more important that breakfast on a Sunday. My tummy was still full!

Plan B

Not to be deterred from breaking the detox, I stop at the shop, buy chocolates and fresh milk - I am SO going to enjoy having a detox ending chocolate and home-made coffee with hot milk!

This is exactly how it was in my mind - me relaxing after work, hot creamy coffee and a delicious array of little chocolates. And that's pretty much what I did. Only ....

The coffee tasted nothing like I remembered - there was nothing delicious about it at all. The aroma didn't even appeal to me particularly! The chocolate at first bite was good, but became sickly sweet thereafter.

Weep or Celebrate?

My taste buds have changed - I don't know whether to weep or celebrate! My desire is for green, rooibos or watermelon and mint tea. And healthy, fresh, juicy tantalizing fruit!

Aaargh! I've become a health nut!

Hahaha!

Who would've thougt it possible?

After a few years of not being particularly kind to my body with what I consume. 30 days of detox and everything has changed!

How Does This Relate To WA?

I always find a way to loop around and relate real physical world experiences to my WA journey. How does this all intertwine? I'll tell you in bullet form, right here:

  • You get what you focus on! I've been focused on healthy foods only for 30 days, initially it felt like it was a lifetime, when I look back, it went in a flash! Moral of the story: Focus on your business, before you know it, you'll be looking back and wondering where all your bad habits went and have the clarity of mind to hone in on what is really important to you and what is good for your business.
  • What you think you want, is not always what you need. We may be gung-ho about a certain direction and convinced that is the best route to pursue. Once we are on the way there it is best to be sensitive to other options and routes to take. There really may be a better way (our friend Linda, here in WA will love that!)
  • It doesn't take nearly as long or as much effort as you expect to transform bad habits into good ones. It was only 30 days, I kid you not, a mere 30 days of my life, and everything to do with taste buds has changed. I am not saying I will never enjoy a delicious creamy cappuccino again, or devour a "comfort food" chocolate again - what has happened though is those are no longer irresistible cravings for me. My preferences have changed. So it is with our businesses. When we cannot bear the thought of writing another review, or the disappointment of no traffic or sales. We need to press on. The day will come when things do change - we will be more passionate about writing reviews to help others, we will become more focused on what our target market needs from us and then attract our tribe. The result being a successful online business.
  • Healthier, happier and more balanced life. Once we can make and implement the changes we will feel healthier, happier and more balanced. This is certainly true for my body, I do feel healthier, happier and more balance - I am not physically craving the things that are bad for me, my mind may have thought otherwise, but my body really does know better. I wake up happier with more energy and enthusiasm. The lack of caffeine and sugar highs and dumps has resulted in a more balanced me. My energy levels are more predictable, much fewer highs and lows. The same can be said for our businesses, we can approach them knowing that the outcome will a healthy business with happier clients and a more balanced income. Is that not what we are aiming for ultimately?

So ending this blog off, things are not always as they seem - especially when we read the words - What an Anti-climax!

Blessings always

Welcome to the health nut world, dear Louise!! :-) For my birthday, I was super excited to get myself.... 2 ripe kakis, green olives and a pot of fresh parsley!! Hahaha! Delicious!!! "Good thing" I still have my beloved husband to incite me to have chocolate, fries and profiterolles! That's what I call a balanced diet!! Hahaha!!

Enjoy your renewed taste buds!

Hi Nathalie
You did make me laugh! Thank you :-)
Your husband definitely sounds like a keeper - lucky lady.
Blessings
Louise

Oh yes, he is a keeper indeed!! For so many reasons! He is such a beautiful soul and I am so lucky indeed! :-)

Well done, you have made a choice toward a more healthy life-style. I started a change in my eating habits two years ago this month and find I can enjoy a McD burger occasionally, but to eat them often does not appeal.

Here’s to a healthier (and happier you)

Barry

Hi Barry
Good for you! I hope I can last too, I do feel better this way so there's no reason why not - other than my mind :-)
Great to see you here, thank you.

Louise

Hi Louise.

Wow, for a moment I thought that you were going to lambaste the platform.

What an antic-climax... 😉

Just kidding!

Regards,

Tayo

It's not a chore, Louise. You've always got something interesting to say. 😊

Thank you for sharing. :) I love the way you relate everything to WA. And, yes, I do want a healthier, more balanced life.

Hi Lorraine
Thank you for reading and commenting, really appreciated.
Go for what you want, there's no time like the present. If you need some more encouragement read this blog I wrote too: called. That concept has helped me so much!

Hi Louise! Thanks so much for your encouragement. :) I'm off now to read your other post for more encouragement and, of course, I'm down for eating chocolate daily for 7 days... ;)

It's all about building habits. Programming the mind really. Once can have either good or bad habits or a mix.

My philosophy is everything in moderation. No need to deprive one of things we love. Just don't overdo it.

I have come to love WA. It can consume ones time. A word of caution. No matter how good it is to make progress here, it is important not to neglect other important things. Like family.

But you already know that. I loved how your mind was reprogrammed not to go for the bun!

Hi Edwin
That's exactly it.
I agree that moderation is good too.
I also agree with you about family, this business really can take you away for far longer than you realize!
Thank you for stopping to read and share, much appreciated.

I guess it's kind of good news in a roundabout way!

Hi Owen
Yeah, it is for me. It may just be a stage but I do quite like it :-)
Thank you for your visit and time to read and comment.

I hope I can control myself from coffee. I drink twice a day, morning and afternoon. My mind says stop it but I like to sip it anyway.

Hi Jimmy
I think that is control, limiting it to twice a day the way you do.
Coffee doesn't seem to be good for me, not when I look back at how dreadful I felt when I stopped drinking it. Perhaps you are different and it is good for you.
Thank you for stopping to read and leave me a comment.

Sometimes it's good but there are times it's bad for me because of my migraine.
And maybe I have to make myself the specimen if what I feel when caffeine and sugar be lessened.

You have a wonderful way with words Louise :-)

Thank you, Gordon :-)
I do enjoy writing and it gives me great pleasure when I receive positive response. Really appreciate your time to read and write back to me, thank you..
