Today began as calm as can be. I woke very early to a still and gorgeous morning. Birds just waking and twittering, gentle sunlight and the peace only the stillness of a new morning can offer. Stay with me as I offer Pearls To Share - Day 3.

Mistake #1

Mel Robbins takes great pains to explain the science behind why you should never hit the snooze button - did I listen? Umm, nope, not this morning.

  • it was warm and cozy in my bed,
  • my furbabies were calling me back for a cuddle,
  • I could pray as I dozed

Our brains can be our worst enemies and mine certainly was my foe today.

The result? I lost 2 hours of working on my own business time. This did not set me up for success with the Daily Pears blogs - currently I am running way behind schedule!

Mistake #2

When employed, do not believe that your time is your own - ever!

After losing time in exchange for the warm cozy bed, cuddles with my furbabies and falling into the deepest slumber instead of dozing as I prayed ... I decided to minimize my "getting ready" time and stick with the least amount of grooming possible, to make it into the office as quickly as possible so that I could still write this blog and be ready for my employer when he arrived at the office.

Only .... other tenants in the building have taken me on as their PA, with no notification mind you, and they organized for security installations this morning!

My first hour-and-a-half in the office comprised of dealing with urgent security installations on behalf of another business - not even the one I am employed by.

That particular tenant is still not in the office and who knows if he has scheduled any additional appointments for me today.

Mistake # 3

When logging into Wealthy Affiliate, go straight to the tasks you have set out for yourself for the day. Do not deviate, if you do, you shall surely spend at least half an hour reading the blogs and comments of others and even sign up for an affiliate program you hadn't heard of before!

That was me - I had a jolly old time distracting myself whilst the security installations were taking place around me. I found some fascinating information, via fellow WA members blogs and comments and a brand new affiliate program to sign up with. So exciting! And so off point and off schedule!

Mistake #4

Whatever you do, no matter your plans, leave the daily reading for later ... you can always get back to it when the time magically makes itself available!

So here, I am, 11.39am and finally getting to my morning read and writing this Pearls To Share blog, in haste!

Pearls To Share - Day 3

Today's message is all about "Room To Grow" and "leaders in some organizations do not recognize the importance of creating a climate conducive to building potential leaders."

Initially my thinking was along the lines of ... well, that's just great, now I don't even have any pearls to draw on for this blog. A quick re-think made me realize, ah, but you do, you so do!

As owners of our online businesses we are not confined to the limitations of leaders in organizations, well, not unless we are those leaders confining ourselves.

The daily read ends off with these words "Only leaders can control the environment of their organization." Guess who that is? Yeah, it's you and it's me! The joys, oh the joys!

So, what are you, as the leader of your online business, doing to ensure you and your business are growing?

  • Spending time in the WA community is a surefire way to do that (ironically)
  • Challenge yourself with something like a blog a day.
  • Take an online course.
  • Set time aside on a regular basis for your training - there is more training available to us within the WA community than any of us have time to complete. We will never run out of training, we may run out of time though - if we don't allocate it and stick to our scheduled times.

Create A Climate Conducive To Growth

What are you doing to ensure your growth? The natural by-product of that will be the growth of your online business. Do you agree?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Blessings always

I believe we all go through these changes and distractions each day. While I am presently retired, I veer off course many times each day. Structure is important to me as well as it seems for you, but I find that when I veer ,I also find gems of information which will add to my success.
This information may not show me this quickly, but I get up take a break regroup and move through it all, since the benefits are surprising if we look at it positively.
take care,
Bill

Hi Bill
Yeah, it's the human condition :-)
So long as we remember to take that break to regroup, it's amazing how much we can achieve through it all.
Thank you for taking the time to share here, much appreciated.

well it can't be that bad to self indulge occasionally having said that you did manage to do what you set out and even extra what;s the deal with others in the building? one thing to be kind hearted...another entirely to be taken advantage of!! any way thank you for today's offering...;)
R.

Hi Rami
Absolutely - self-indulgence is necessary on occasion!
Thank you for the reminder about watching out for being taken advantage of, that certainly is happening. I don't think its intentional, I believe he is also very busy and doing his best to settle into new premises whilst doing the business juggling act. Will keep an eye on this though and say my piece if necessary.
Thank you for stopping by.

your very welcome my lady!! and you make sure you do that!!
Don't need to tell you however as you know the saying if a snake shows it head cut it!! more than most!! ;)
R.

Hi Louise,

It's true that being self employed required us to be self disciplined.

That is why it's imperative that you understand your purpose and passions that God created you so these chores become a labor of love.

I personally look forward to working on my investment portfolio... Especially in this turbulent market!

the next activity I enjoy most is writing about God and finances, helping my daughter with her music career and interior design.

My insurance business is not my a favorite pastime. Even though I spent over 30 years in this field.

Therefore I made the decision to only take new clients on a referral basis and dedicate time to the things I love.

Hopefully my love will soon expand into working and donating to charitable causes that enrich our society.

Blessings,
-ALLAN-

That bed can be like a venus fly trap sometimes - you have to fight to escape it!

Thanks for the excellent post, Louise!
Isaiah 😊

Hi Isaiah
That is a perfect description! Haha! I love it. Tomorrow I shall fight the good fight!
Thank you for your high praise, really appreciated.
Blessings
Louise
