Pearls To Share - Day 1

Life can set us back in ways we cannot anticipate and these set backs can take a hold of us and bury us for some time. In the time that we are buried, we have a choice, are we going to make use of that time to grow, see sometimes we are buried to bloom. That doesn't make sense until you read a quote by Christine Cane "Sometimes when you are in a dark place you think you've been buried, but you've actually been planted." I was "planted" in October last year when I lost the vision in one of my eyes. Long story short, I had surgery and am able to see with both eyes again (I am thankful for that!). There are still challenges, for example, working on a screen for long periods of time causes double and blurred vision. This has taken its toll on me. So what am I doing about it? I'm back to daily visualizing, reading (which is where I find the pearls I shall be sharing), exercising, eating healthy and so on. I wrote a blog about this last year: Eat Right, Sleep Right, Hydrate & Exercise. The intention now is to blog on a daily basis and develop great writing habits once again. Today is Pearls To Share - Day 1.

Where Do I Find These Pearls?

Currently I am reading two books daily:

  • 365 Day Promises to Live By We Believe ... We Live ... which is a Christian book based on the promises we can count on.
  • Daily Wisdom For Leaders - John C Maxwell also a Christina Daily Devotion

What I love about both these books is that though they are Christian specific, they also offer wisdom that is easy to relate to in our every day lives - no matter what our spiritual beliefs are.

Understanding the rules of the Wealthy Affiliate community, I shall not be writing religious blogs, rather I shall share the wisdom I am receiving so that we can all learn together. Hope this is ok with you?

The pearls I find in these two books are primarily what I shall be sharing. Knowing that Readers Are Leaders, I am also reading another book about money, which almost contradicts what you may expect from me. The book is entitled You Are A Bad A** at Making Money by Jen Sincero. So don't be surprised if I share some little gems that need stars in the words, lol!

Daily Wisdom For Leaders

When I bought this book I felt far from what anyone could call a leader. Perhaps that is how you feel too? The truth is that we are all leaders, especially when it comes to our online businesses. If you own a website, it is your online business, that makes you the leader of your own business. We are also leaders in our homes and families and communities, sports and all sorts of arenas. We just need to step up to the role.

Pearls To Share - Day 1 - If You Fall, Get Back Up

It is interesting that I decided to start writing Daily Pearls before I saw the subject for today. Some may call this synchronicity, others coincidence. I call it Godincidence. Let's get into it.

The text goes on to a quote from Austin O'Malley who said "The Fact That You Have Been Knocked Down Is Interesting, But The Length Of Time You Remain Down Is Important."

The daily read goes on to speak about how long you stay down and the decision to get back on your feet as quickly as you can. Also, the importance of leaning from the mistake and getting back into the game too. Finishing up with the well known Henry Ford quote "Failure Is The Opportunity to Begin Again More Intelligently"

My most recent "failure" was not getting back up quickly enough. Granted, vision challenges cannot prevent you from writing, research and proofreading are a different story. What if I had written just a part of a blog every day instead of being down about not being able to complete a blog every day or two? That brings me to consistency too. Even if we take a small step every day, so long as we do it on a daily basis we will surely reach the end goal, with more certainty than if we take a small step once a week. My experience is that it is easier to fall about of the habit of anything if I do it only once per week. Daily activity is the path to consistency.

Remember the quote from Christine Cane "Sometimes when you are in a dark place you think you've been buried, but you've actually been planted."

I love this image - what a fighter!

Hi Louise. Like you I find a lot of wisdom from the Christian books I read but also from about every thing I read from business ideas to successful thinking.
I also like to read fantasy novels, never know what you can learn.
Glad to hear that you are still getting through your problems with your eyes.
Have a blessed week ahead.
Ray

I have been in a major automobile accident many years back and had major setbacks and took several years to get going again. Still today I deal with problems from it and will from now on. I did not lay down and give up just took a long time and a carrier change to get going again.

I would say my pearls was the gift of life and the strength to pick myself back 🙏🙌 up.

Great post!! Thank for sharing.

Hi Bobby
Well done for never quitting! Incredibly valuable pearls you have shared. Just goes to show the strength of the human spirit!
Thank you for taking the time to read and share.

First, I'm so glad your eyesight was restored. We often take them for granted until something happens. I'm an avid reader so I try to take good care of my eyes.

Don't you love coincidence??? I had a sign above my desk one time that said "Coincidence is God's way of performing a miracle and remaining anonymous"

Your photo of the flower coming up through the crack -- I took a photo very similar to that. I thought it was inspirational.

Hi Debbi
Thank you so much. I hang my head in shame at how I took my vision for granted. We do better when we know better :-)
I love that quote from the sign on your desk! Thank you for sharing.
I love the tenacity and cheekiness of that little plant, completely inspirational!
Blessings

Thanks for sharing Louise. I like your perspective about being planted rather than feel like we're being buried.

I've been knocked down many times, but somehow, had to find ways to keep moving forward, even in small steps as long as I'm doing something daily.

Thanks for the post!
Isaiah 😊

Hi Isaiah
Thank you, glad you appreciated the post.
I am sure I've seen you taken leaps and strides :-) Keep going!
Blessings
Louise
