Oh Boy, So Now I Have My Work Cut Out For Me!
Perfect image for this blog - busy bees! Only I wish there were more of me, it is me, alone, and extremely busy! It's all very good though so I am truly not complaining when I say Oh Boy, So Now I Have My Work Cut Out For Me!
What Happened?
I took a bold step and went live in my Vision Board Workshop Facebook page. See, I figured that with 60 members, I should definitely not be the only one contributing. I mean really, wehat is that about? So I decided to show my face and let my group see and hear who they are signed up with. GULP! I would be lying if I said it was easy peasy - my palms were sweaty, I was terrified that I would just go blank in the middle of it all - or worse, right at the start!
My Little Secret
But let me share my little secret with you. I have a private Facebook group where I am the only member. Uh huh, that is how I practiced. Hehe! I am very happy to tell you that the practice did help. Was it a case of practice makes perfect? Nope, you cannot compare going live for real with going live in a group so private that you are the only member! It definitely did help me order my thoughts and manage my delivery.
Going Live For Reals
After a practice run in my very private Facebook group, I took a deep breath, counted, 3, 2 1 and pressed "Go Live" and watched the Facebook counter, 3, 2 1 .... I was live! Low and behold, I even had someone watching me - I was mindful that may happen but hadn't practiced it. I am happy to say that I managed to look casual, glance at the bottom of the screen, notice who it was and greet her by name! Not too shabby!
I explained that the purpose of the live video was to share who I am, face, voice and all, and explain a little about why I started the group. I let the group know that we are now 60 members strong and my desire is to have everyone involved and contributing to the group. (My vision is to create a vibrant group of women who straighten each other's crowns without telling the world - I shall have to share that on tomorrow's live video).
I almost begged everyone to participate - actually no, I didn't, but I did encourage the ladies to please be brave and share something with the group. the bravest a few ladies got was to like or love my live video, outside of one friend who congratulated me in a comment. Does that count?
More than half of the ladies in the group have watched the video, so that is saying something I guess.
Taking A Poll
After the live I posted a poll with 3 different options and asked the ladies to please vote. Which they have - YAY! Buuut, there is an even split between two of the options. Either one of them entails work on my part, but now I have work to do for two of the options. It's only fair that I do of course.
My plan is to offer value with these options, by the way, they are also free. It could be kept really simple or I could go all out and make it extremely special. As this is the launch of these options, my thinking is that I need to go all out. Very, very exciting!
What am I creating?
1. A daily challenge for the month of August
2. A daily "to-do list" for challengers with a journal to go alongside it
What Does This Have To Do With WA?
My reason for sharing with you, my awesome WA community:
1. I aim to inspire and encourage other members who may be feeling discouraged
2. To spur anyone who needs it into action!

Hi Louise. I'm glad you didn't hurt any men when creating you Facebook page. In all seriousness, what a great idea to set up a practice site in FB. That's certainly thinking outside of the square. That could work well in many ways. The practice could come in handy if you set up a you tube site. All the best. Jim

Haha! Nah, I really do love men - I was raised with brothers, what more can I say?
I wish I could take sole credit for the private private Facebook group idea, I learned it from somewhere - just cannot recall where. I also post a lot of inspirational stuff in the group that I want to keep to use later and just to encourage myself. It's a great tool to have.

Thank you so much. I have to admit that it did take me a while to go live, this has been on my mind for at least 4 weeks. The ice has been broken now, so hopefully, it will get easy.
Funny you should speak of a brand, this group doesn't even have a brand identity, colour, logo, absolutely nada! I have to do that today too! Will keep it simple and just grow it out from there. May even be a way for more engagement, get the members to vote on a couple of logo options :-) Hmmm, thank you for the idea :-)

I know it's a big step for you, Louise. And it was not easy at all. I congratulate you on your courage because it's not so easy to show your face that way. It might seem like you're feeling naked in front of others. Then we end up realizing that it may be more reassuring for others to know who they are dealing with. People come more easily to a person who dares to show pictures than to someone who prefers to remain anonymous.
It's a real pleasure to see you move forward and evolve towards the business woman you are becoming.
