Loves and Wows, Not Likes
Hey everyone, I have it on good authority that Facebook has changed things up (just for a change) and our best results are now achieved by Loves and Wows, Not Likes.
Yeah Facebook, We Have You In Our Sights
Love them or hate them, Facebook offers us an amazing reach into an awesome audience. Only, we have to play by Facebook's rules. That's okay, we just need to keep our eye on the rules as they change and mutate.
Oh, Now What?
Apparently Facebook has changed the response rating up. Our Facebook posts no longer gain much traction with just a like (or thumbs up). So now we need to give each other some Love, or Wows for a positive rating with Facebook. I suspect that Laughing, Crying and Angry faces may give us decent ratings, but suspect we may need to keep these appropriate to the post. Knowing Facebook, they'll find a way to use these against us if their inappropriate.
A Little Traffic Light Format for Clarity's Sake
If you are planning on giving a fellow member (or a loved one) some Facebook traction, have a look at the graphic below to see which are best:
Just to re-iterate - we are working with traffic light colours (or robots as they are known in my home country). Yes, you've got it, Red for Stop; Orange for Proceed with Caution and Green for Go for it!
(PS If you do ever drive in South Africa, or Africa for that matter, please be aware that traffic lights are taken as suggestions and not necessarily adhered to in this part of the world - I kid you not. ALWAYS PROCEED WITH CAUTION ON THESE ROADS!).

No for the the thumbs up - apparently this does not offer much value anymore.
Yes for the Heart - the heart shows love, love, love. All we need is love, tralalalala!
Yes for the Laughing Face Face - if it is funny
Yes for the Wow! - shows Amazing! Exciting! Incredible!
Yes for the Sad Face - if the post makes you sad
Yes for the the Angry Face - if the post makes you mad
I had some fun with creating this blog, otherwise it would have been hopelessly short. Hope you've read it with the same amusement I have in creating it.

Awesome post, thank you. However, apparently the sad and angry faces are supposed to reduce that posts reach now. Apparently. Liking has almost no effect now, it's all love, laughter and wows. These algorithm changes have been making the rounds in many of my groups for awhile now. All of them said angry and sad are no good at all, except for specific nonprofits and causes, they are often exempt from certain algorithm changes.

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. One of the things that Kyle says is that we can be opinionated and generate engagement that way too - I guess we should keep that for our websites then and not ruffle anyone's feathers on Facebook. It's a pity actually, there is nothing wrong with a healthy debate on contentious issues, now Facebook is taking away the "healthy engagement" on that too.
I must check that my non-profit childrens home is listed as such so that they aren't penalised for anything too. Thanks for the heads up.

(And, just so you know...traffic lights aren't adhered to around my neck of the woods in Minnesota a whole lot, either. Nor are stop signs, yield signs, speed limit signs, or basically any other sign! It is pretty much "take your chances if you decide to drive around these parts!")

What is wrong with us human beings that we cannot adhere to basic principles which will keep us alive - we are crazy beings!
At least I am getting great practice here for if I ever need to drive in your part of the world too. Though we drive on the left, so just that will keep me very focused! lol! New Dehli is an eye-opener too, I was ferried about in a taxi there, don't think I'd brave their traffic! OPurs is still orderly in comparison, haha!
