Yeah, I know, it's a "chick thing" - the ladies will relate, men - please just believe us on this, we really can be in exactly this place - I am So Happy I Could Weep!

Social Media Is To Blame

I have a love-hate relationship with Social Media - as many people do. Most recently I have found myself drawn to watch the dreadful and incredible things happening in my birth country, Zimbabwe and Malawi and Mozambique. I say dreadful and incredible because these three countries have been very hard hit my Cyclone Ida - here we are five days later and there are still people stuck on roof tops and in trees in Mozambique! Children, Men and Women, some too tired to hold on! Not to mention the livestock, the wild game, the farms, the land! I just can't bear to think about it all!

The Incredible things have been people pulling together, risking their lives traversing washed away infrastructure to get to those in need. Cycling the areas to do recces, taking their own private boats and anything that may just help! Communities already so poor they are unable to clothe and feed themselves, yet they have donated truckload upon truckload of provisions (food, clothing, blankets, water - everything you could think of!)! Zimbabweans especially, make my heart swell with pride!!! They give so much from so little.

Please pray for all three countries - Mozambique is definitely the hardest hit - they are all suffering so much!

The love-hate relationship existed prior to Cyclone Ida, I find that Facebook particularly takes me on an emotional roller coaster. It's a drug to me - FOMO is real, I want to know what is going on - but I don't. If only Mark Zuckerberg would create a good news only Facebook! That would suit me fine! No doubt, I would still visit the bad news one, I cannot be helped!

My online business necessitates a visit to Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter daily - yes, i post every day on all three platforms. Sometimes it's scheduled so I do not have to look - but I am not so organized that it's for weeks ahead. Most days I try to "pop-in" at the very least.

Why So Happy I Could Weep?

No, it's not the pride I feel at being part of an incredible nation - though I suspect the latest happenings have predisposed me to tears.

It's my social media posts - they are receiving attention, likes and even shares! It's been so much hard work training, researching, writing, finding mistakes, kicking myself, re-assessing, re-writing, correcting, re-posting, selecting images - you know the drill - it is just A LOT of hard work; and to stay committed, persistent and motivated when it looks like nothing is happening, well that's a whole other story!

Yet, here I am, nothing has gone viral - but all three platforms are starting to show some love!

My Goal...

is to create financial and geographic freedom AND to make a difference in the lives of others.

The activity on social media, though slow and sparing, shows me that I am on my way to reaching my goals - and when I do - I shall be making a difference in the lives of others! I shall be donating money for provisions, I shall be paying for rescue missions, I shall be there in person, helping where I can!

Standing on the sidelines praying and weeping, is not what I have been created for!

A superlative post, Louise, but also a deep emotional one too. You are a wonderful woman who cares about the fools.
You have all your personal considerations about you.

Ioan

Hi Ioan
I appreciate you input here, thank you.

Louise

I'm in your assent.

Ioan

Hi Louise, I'm sorry for the strife your homeland is going through. I really like your WHY. My goal is to separate myself from making someone else money and to be able to work where and when I need or want to without driving through relentless rush hour traffic putting wear and tear on my car.

And, to provide for my wife and I even in our later years when I can still be involved in Affiliate marketing.

Cal

Hi Cal
Thank you for caring.
Great why you have there, makes perfect sense - we've been duped into thinking that commuting for hours is the way to live - I wish you speedy arrival at your destination so you can do more interesting and valuable things with your time.
Blessings
Louise

Thank you Louise, actually, I do get to work from home 3 days a week in my current job. And, that 20 foot commute is perfect.

Cal

The way you put it really touch your readers. Great post, inspiring lots of empathy.

Here's another like for you. Well spoken!

Thank you very much. 😊

Hi there,
If this is how all your posts sounds you will definately go very far.

I too saw the devastation on the new last night - and i did have a little cry.

I am happy that i have enough food and a comfortable place to live - i cried because i could not help.

I too would love to help others when ever i can. I see my "why" for joining WA every single day - there is no turning back for me as i hate quitting, and i honestly don't know how to.

God bless and i will also pray for these 3 countries.

Hiya
Thank you so much.
Yeah, it's so hard to watch what is happening - those poor people. I can understand why it made you cry, that feeling of helplessness is tough to manage,
Wonderful to see your why - go for it! I look forward to reading your success stories.
Thank you for praying.
Blessings always

Hi Louise,
That is so kind of you to want to help and have that be your motivation. You are doing a great job. I am sorry there is so much devastation in those countries.

I know how you feel about social media. I hate how much time it can suck up but there is an upside. I feel amazing when a post I share about a sweet dog or cat in a kill shelter (if they don't get adopted quickly they are killed) needs a home and others share it. Sometimes we see that the pet got adopted and then it is the greatest feeling in the world. I also feel good when I write a post about a product that can help people keep their pets healthy or deal with a behavior problem so they don't give up and dump the pet. I am glad I can help people and pets.

I hope my human health site gets to the point that it can help people as well. I have learned through personal experience there are many, many conditions that regular doctors here in the U.S. don't understand and don't learn about. They tell patients there is just nothing they can do to help them or the patient is given drug after drug that cause painful and deadly side effects. I know there are simple solutions for many of those conditions that often come back to simple nutritional deficiencies. That is a controversial topic here though since the drug companies cannot patent and therefore make massive profits off natural vitamins and minerals. People are taught it is just quakery even though it could literally save their life and certainly save them tons of money and pain.

Here's to helping people as our motivation to do what we do!

Jessica

Hi Jessica
Thank you.
I agree with you on m the positives of social media, I too share so many posts about furbabies looking for homes - like you say, it can and does make a difference.
Bless you for having a soft heart too - it's not easy to have but necessary in this world.
Yes! Here's to the motivation to do good!
Blessings always

Very beautiful and heartfelt, your efforts will show the differences soon! Social media can be cancerous in a way, but it can also be used to relieve and grow. :)

Hi Ryan
Thank you so much.
Yes, Social Media is a necessary evil - so much good but oh boy, so much bad too.
Thank you again.
Blessings
Louise

My heart goes out to your people and homeland Louise...also good news the social media starting to work for you...I am still trying...

Thank you, my sweetheart, the world is all upside down - I know things have been rough your side too. Hugs.
Keep going with social media, it has to happen if we are persistent and consistent.
Blessings

PS We should chat about social media too, maybe compare what we are doing - I have to go offline now but we can pm for tomorrow maybe?

I am useless at it. .maybe this time you can teach me something...I lost $$120 to FB for just 1 click now avoiding it. IG gives me a headache with all these people telling me to check their friends profiles out - not sure what that's about, and Twitter lost me, as for Pinterest, everyone follows other pins but not my niche or WA site

Let's connect and chat about SM in the week.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend!
Blessings
Louise
