It's all about commemorating the first democratic election in South Africa.
National Braai Day
Some celebrate Freedom Day with a good South African Braai.
Truth be known, National Braai Day is actually also National Heritage Day and is held on 24 September. This is a day when many Saffers do what they do best! In other parts of the world this practice has a much posher name, the barbecue". Down under, its "the barbie"
A Face Well Known To Many
This man means more to me than words can explain, but not for the reasons he is so well-known. He did take the "Long Walk To Freedom", but I am not speaking politically here at all . I am referring to the freedom he chose for himself as an individual, as a human being. The freedom of his own mind, heart and soul. Oh if we could also take that journey successfully. If we could also live in forgiveness and optimism. Do what we were born to do. He did what he was called to do and believed in, and came out the other side a truly beautiful human being.
"Courageous people do not fear forgiving for the sake of peace" Nelson Mandela.
"As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison" Nelson Mandela
How Does This Relate To WA?
We are privileged, we have freedom that many, many people do not. We have access to incredible training and an awesome community! Access to building our own online businesses and creating wealth in ways we may never have imagined before.
That is the freedom I speak of, "if we do not leave our preconceptions behind and if we hold onto the way things have always been done, we will always be in the prison of working 9-5 for someone else and realizing only their dreams, not our own. Not those we have been created for".
May we walk in this freedom, carving a path for others, as Kyle, Carson and many others have done for us. Showing the way and making a difference in their lives too.

I remember well, feeling the same Joy, at the release of Nelson Mandela.
It was a freedom felt 'round the world!

Happy Freedom Day Louise ! I hope you enjoy a wonderful Braai.
I remember first learning Nelson Mandela's story when I was in Junior High. This was around 1964-65. I followed his life story and accomplishments the rest of his life.
I have only personally known one person from SA. She was a friend and co-worker at my last job. She told me how when she stepped off the plane her first time in Chicago the temperature was only 9 degrees (fahrenheit). I always admired her for sticking around.
