Yeess!! I celebrate this day every year.
I am half-blood and my African part is also
important for me. Then I eat fondue on Swiss
National Day and for African Day I make a buffet
at home where I invite all my family, friends and my neighbors.

Long live to our beautiful AFRICA!!!
Ingrid

Hi Ingrid

Thank you Louise for bringing it home, the Annual Commemoration of the Foundation of the Organisation of African Unity now known as the African Union. Great post.

Thank you for sharing.

Regards from Canada,

Paul.

Happy Africa Day!
C & P

Thank you so much โ˜บ๏ธ Really appreciated!

Hi Louise.

I'm not enthusiastic about Africa. It is wasted potential wrapped up in balls of ignorance, packed in cartons of incompetence and tied up in ribbons of corruption.

I can't speak for the whole of Africa but I can say something about Nigeria.

Some get to ask a God a question as a special blessing.

Before he died, Yasser Arafat went to God and asked, "Will there ever be peace between Israel and Palestine?"
YES, said God, BUT NOT IN YOUR LIFETIME.

One pope (name withheld) asked God, "Will you ever place a greater baboon than Richard Nixon into the White House?"
YES, said God, IN YOUR LIFETIME.

President Yar'Adua, before he died, asked God, "Will Nigeria ever become a strong and stable country, free of corruption, respecting the rule of law?"
MAYBE, said God. BUT NOT IN MY LIFETIME. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Regards,

Hi Tayo

You made me laugh, as always ๐Ÿ˜‚ Thank you for that.

On the subject on all the things wrong with Africa - that's right, you won't have me defending or denying any of it. The people who could (& should, in my humble opinion) make a difference, all leave the rest of us suckers "holding the baby". I belong to a few Facebook groups and am frequently subjected to the many criticisms about Africa by folk who are living in comfort as far away as they possibly can without even lifting a finger to vote from their new homeland. Yeah, we could have a healthy debate on this topic my friend ๐Ÿ˜Š

"without even lifting a finger to vote from their new homeland"
I'm guilty of this. In fact, until you said so, the thought hadn't even crossed my mind. I do have a defence though.

**No one can help those who don't wish to be helped.** I wasted two precious decades trying to make a difference, but all I got for my troubles was a bad back and a deep cynicism.

I'm done.

"Yeah, we could have a healthy debate on this topic my friend ๐Ÿ˜Š"
Looking forward to it. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

Hello there
If you're done there is no debate, just different choices & opinions.
We all get to choose & then live with those choices.
It's never too late to change a choice though - just saying โ˜บ๏ธ

.
" there is no debate, just different choices & opinions"
Well, that's debatable... lol

Happy Africa day!

Thank you Mickey,
Happy memorial weekend to you too. Is it correct to say "happy memorial", it's a sad memory really?
We can be happy for Africa day though.
Blessings always
Louise

Hope you're celebrating now you know.
Blessings
Louise

I didn't celebrate but I certainly appreciate your telling us about this. I may celebrate next time if I don't forget about it.

Happy Africa Day. Thank you for sharing this moment of knowledge.
Michael

Hi Michael
Only a pleasure!

Interesting. Memorial Day is a holiday in the United States for remembering and honoring people who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces and is this coming Monday (celebrated this whole weekend).
I love African day's "Healthy Lifestyle Prolongs Life:" theme. I will keep African Day in mind all weekend long ;-)

I'm not sure what the correct wish would be for something like a Memorial Day, whatever it is, that is what I'm sending your way.
Enjoy the theme for Africa day as you commemorate the USA heroes.
Blessings
Louise
