Yeah, yeah, I have an error in the title - just to emphasize just how easy English is! So come along for a little light entertainment and take your mind off the pressure of producing content, just for a short while. English Is Easy (Write?)

Have A Laugh

According to an article in Psychology Today entitled You're Not Laughing Enough, and That's No Joke, there is some debate on how often children laugh versus adults - apparently it may be a myth that the average 4-year-old laughs 300 times a day and the average adult only 4. How sad is it though that, myth or not, us adults do tend to laugh less often than our younger counterparts. I just need to spend time with my young adult daughter to experience the truth that she definitely laughs more often than me. (Granted, it could be the giddy feeling of young love, it could also be the "benefits of Gin" that she is currently testing out).

Either way, the fact is that laughing is good for us. The following short paragraph is taken the same article, "You're Not Laughing Enough..."

"Laughter Enlivens Us

Norman Cousins famously chronicled the effects of his self-prescribed "laughing cure" in his book Anatomy of an Illness as Perceived by the Patient (W.W. Norton, 1979, 2001, 2005). Cousins, who suffered from inflammatory arthritis, claimed that 10 minutes of hearty guffawing while watching Marx Brothers movies brought him two hours of pain-free sleep—and that both inflammation and pain were significantly reduced. Research since then has shown that laughter reduces levels of stress hormones such as cortisol, epinephrine, and dopamine; increases health-enhancing hormones (such as endorphins), neurotransmitters, and infection-fighting antibodies; and improves blood flow to the heart—all resulting in greater relaxation and resistance to disease, as well as improved mood and positive outlook."

I am all for those benefits - how about you?

Linking It All Back To Our Online Businesses

Writing can be a lonely task and our online businesses too. Even for those of us who really do love to write, it can become a chore and a bore.

Let's be real, spending time on the beach, in the mountains, on a walking tour in Italy, a cycling tour in Vietnam ... just to name a few examples ... is hands-down better than sitting alone staring at our screens!

Thankfully we are not entirely alone as members of Wealthy Affiliate!

Even Alone We Can Laugh

I found this on Facebook and it gave me a good chuckle!

Go on, admit it, it tickled your funny bone ... just a little.

Whilst we are spending what can feel like eternity writing blogs for our sites, instead of doing so many other activities we love, we can lighten up and enjoy the process. Find the humour and joy even on those seemingly endless days of staring at our screens!

Let's take ourselves less seriously some times and breathe, extend our arms out straight and lean away from the screen ... look for something amusing and have a good laugh. Then share it within the community, heaven knows, we can all do with light relief from time to time.

Thank You

Thank you for reading this short blog that offers no money-making advice (but may save someone's sanity) - I appreciate your time and trust you cracked at least a smile when you read the above. My favourite is keese - just imagine and old movie with a row of keesing beeths at the fair ... lol!

Which is your favourite Or maybe you have others you'd like to add? Please feel free to jot them in the comments below.

We can all add our two cents to this blog English is Easy (Write?)

Blessings always

I need laughter so much!

Another benefit is that on long drives, when I get tired/sleepy and can't stop until a rest area comes along on the highway, I'll listen to a favorite comedian. The laughter allows me to take in a lot of oxygen and keeps me awake.

As usual it's a great post, Louise !!

Yes, it is true that as we grow older we tend to forget that laughing is good for health.
In Switzerland our former president made a speech about laughter and how it helped to get better.
Without realizing it, sometimes we get into patterns of life too serious and we forget the light things in life.
As you say so well, go for a walk, ride a bike, spend time with our loved ones. It reminds us of how light and pleasant life can be.

So let's keep smiling and healthy!
Friendly!
Ingrid

Hi Rami

Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed this one.

Ugh, makes my skin crawl thinking about those greasy "gentlemen" they deserve so much more than a dirty slap.

Hi Louise,

Great play on words using a homonym!

Leading a balanced life also increases productivity.

Meeting other people either online or in person increases interaction and fellowship. A virtue that is very pleasing to our creator.

Blessings,
-ALLAN-

Hi Allan

Thank you - I learned from you today too - now I know what a homonym is (it's possible that I knew before and forgot, but I looked it up and learned again today, lol).

Thank you for stopping to read and leave me a comment, much appreciated.

Blessings
Louise

She, shis and shim, that made me laugh! Thanks for this great post, Louise. I do laugh quite often as me and my boyfriend often have fun, sometimes even in crazy situations.
Yeah, we should be more like children, not take things too seriously and laugh a lot.

Hiya Lenka

Glad to see you had a laugh at this share. You're incredibly fortunate to have a man you can get crazy and laugh with :-)

Agreed, we should be more like children - life can get far too serious.

Blessings
Louise
