This is probably a very silly question but does being logged into my site affect people viewing my pages and posts? Or is it only the specific post you're altering? I seem to h

Thanks everyone - I think I'll get in touch with tech support as there's definitely something up....

You should be okay. Once the site loads, the script doesn't usually automatically reload until they click another page =)

Only if you are activating plug-ins, changing themes or upgrading Wordpress - those things will take you into maintenance mode and could bump people off your site.

No it should not give any problems that you are logged in and working on your site.

If people are seeing errors or blank pages, it is probably coming from something else. Ask the people that tell you about to tell you what pages the errors are on and check them on different browsers. Sometimes there can be errors on different browsers depending on the theme.

Or if everything looks fine from your end maybe it was just a glitch or you should consider contacting support and see if there is a technical error.

I have had a couple of emails now from google adsense saying:

"We've noticed that the ads.txt file on one or more of your sites that you monetise with this adsense count

Hey Louise,

When copying and pasting code, if we miss so much as one character then it will not work properly. Therefore, I suggest you go over the instructions one by one though starting from fresh, to see if in fact, you may have missed a character... or more.

In fixing code that is not working properly it can be a little like finding a needle in a haystack but that is your only option to finding your error.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks - I've definitely copied it correctly so I'm really not sure why it's not working.....

Try Google searching the phrase you received in Google's email (without the quotation marks, of course). I can see several posts offering suggestions on a fix.

Hope this helps you.

Hopefully this article can help you out.

Thanks, I knew most of what was in the article already - what I'm trying to do is fix it so I don't get the error anymore? I've put an ads.txt plug-in with the codes - is there another way I should be doing it?

As Triblu suggests, you might want to contact Amazon. To me OneLink has been a bit of a disappointment as I don't seem to be able to use it as I'm based in UK, and the UK site doesn't have it. Or am I wrong? Any UK based people that could use OneLink out there from Amazon.co.uk?

Giulia

Yes, that's exactly my problem - I think it only works one way so for us being based in the UK we still have to have two separate links.....I will do as you both suggest and contact amazon - thanks for your help :)

Hey Louise,

I would highly recommend that you contact Amazon support in your Amazon Associates account. Having had issues trying to get my link to work, their support staff were amazingly helpful.

Hope this helps you.

It is really problematic, the same here. I asked people from UK and Canada to check so it is totally unreliable, some links work some not.

Hmm it should work. I only use US links, and since I configured OneLink I got sales in UK and CA.

I created an ad for one of my Facebook posts a couple of weeks ago and it was very successful. I'd like to promote the post again to a difference audience, however, there is no

Hello, it seems you have the answer already but you can do this in the ads manager. I also recommend that you DO NOT press the boost button. Instead, boost the post(s) from the back end. Also, edit your placements and don’t use recommended. Boosting by pressing the button is not the best because you can target more specifically by not pressing the button. You can watch tons of videos on it on YouTube or read some articles on Google about it. Hopes this gives you some insight!

Thank you :) I can't believe I didn't know the Ad Manager was there! You're right, it gives you a whole load more options. I'll definitely be using it from now on!

I may be missing something but I really can't work out how to do it! I tried a completely new ad but it wouldn't let me as I'd already boosted the post. The only way to reboost is to edit the old promotion which then adds the cost on from the end date which was around 2 weeks ago??

Any ideas?!

Did you try to go into the ads manager and create a new campaign? And then from there select the audience and post.

I just tried to do it that way with a post that has already previously been boosted and it seems to work.

I went into the 'Insights' tab which I'm presuming is the ad manager? I couldn't find it anywhere else.....

The insights tab is not the ads manager. You find the ads manager in the top right corner by clicking the little error. Here you should be able to see something called "manage ads" - click that one and it will take you to the ads manager. Here you select to create new campaign, and choose the engagement objective. Then you can first select the audience and then choose which post you want to advertise/create engagements for.

hope this helps

Thank you so much - I had no idea that was there and had just been using the 'Boost Post' buttons! It's worked :)

You are welcome. The ads manager gives so many more options so it can be great to use. Glad I could help.

Mikael

It was a great help - thanks again!

You can use the ad manager. Go there and create a new ad. Choose engagement, and then you can select audience and which post you want to use it for.

That should help.

All the best
Mikael

You can definitely run it again, quite often they will ask if you want to add a budget or boost again etc.

Go to your page, then in Insight. Scroll down and find the post that you want to boost again. If it is finished it will be written view results. Choose that button and the new window will be opened. So there you can edit the ad and boost it again.

That's where I went but it didn't let me put in today's date and was just editing the old ad?

Can you make a screenshot so I can see what you are doing and give you instructions?

The promotion is trying to run from the old date (ie. the 9th August.....it's saying I need to pay £14 when I only want to run it for 3-5 days at £1 a day?

Select first the period than add the amount you want to pay (minimum 1£ per day)

That's what it doesn't let me do - see the red at the top. It's asking for a minimum of £14....?

As it's starting from 2 weeks ago...

I think I realized what the problem is. Did you first boost it for 14 days £1per day? So I think now its counting that period also. Maybe if you put 17 instead of 4 pounds will be ok.

Hmm, I will try that. I only did it for 4 days originally but it does seem like its starting from the original start date! Thanks :)

Give it a try and please share afterwards what what happens.

Hi Everyone,

I have a privacy policy and affiliate disclosure on a page under my 'About Me' section but I have noticed a lot of people put a brief affiliate disclosure on

Disclosure is becoming more of a legal issue these days and you must do all you can to ensure that your site meets the required guidelines.
Techhound has nailed it in his response below and this post by Loes would also be very helpful Terry

Thanks Terry!

Go to know I will access in the future

I politely tell my viewers that it doesn't cost extra to click my link and that I may or may not make a small percentage from their purchase on all my reviews. And thank them for their support.

I have mine in a drop down menu, headed "About" if you click on this the drop down menu shows About Me, Affiliate Disclosure and Privacy Policy.

John

No need to have it on every post.
I only have a general page for that.

Robert's suggestion about links ties this up in a full networking loop with short text unifying every page. Go with it Louise!

Thanks Mike!

Here are the guidelines taken directly from the FTC.gov website:

The Guides say that disclosures have to be clear and conspicuous. What does that mean?

To make a disclosure “clear and conspicuous,” advertisers should use clear and unambiguous language and make the disclosure stand out. Consumers should be able to notice the disclosure easily. They should not have to look for it. In general, disclosures should be:

close to the claims to which they relate;
in a font that is easy to read;
in a shade that stands out against the background;
for video ads, on the screen long enough to be noticed, read, and understood;
for audio disclosures, read at a cadence that is easy for consumers to follow and in words consumers will understand.

A disclosure that is made in both audio and video is more likely to be noticed by consumers. Disclosures should not be hidden or buried in footnotes, in blocks of text people are not likely to read, or in hyperlinks. If disclosures are hard to find, tough to understand, fleeting, or buried in unrelated details, or if other elements in the ad or message obscure or distract from the disclosures, they don’t meet the “clear and conspicuous” standard. With respect to online disclosures, FTC staff has issued a guidance document, .com Disclosures: How to Make Effective Disclosures in Digital Advertising, which is available on ftc.gov.

Thank you, that's so helpful! :)

I recommend you read the T&Cs; of every program you sign up to as Amazon for example requires specific wording in regard to disclosure. I think most members find it easiest to simply add their disclosures in the footer.

I have made my own banners and place it under my posts, you can also put a link under it, or in the footer or into your side bar widget. I believe Amazon has its own rules for it

That's a good idea putting it into the footer.....I like your banner! :)

Thank you, I think it's more attractive and visible than a link, you can make a niche related one

Once is enough and if you want to, you can put a link at the bottom of posts.

That's good to know, thanks Robert. Putting a link to the page is a great idea, I hadn't thought of that.
