Review: The Wealthy Affiliate Online Business University
There are hundreds of companies offering online business training and resources. It’s almost impossible to tell the good ones from the scams and until you sign up and pay, most of them do not show you what they have to offer. I have been interested in building an online business for many years because it creates revenue streams that pay me even when I am sleeping, which is how I plan to build my retirement plan. For those of you not familiar with online “affiliate” marketing businesses, you get paid for selling “other people’s products and services” in the form of commissions that most of the time are monthly recurring payments. The more products you promote the more you make as each one is its own revenue stream. As you build your email list you continue to have new products to offer those who have signed up for another product and them you keep repeating the process with each new subscriber. See how the money can grow exponentially- into the millions.
I take at least 1 personal development course each year and this year was looking at the online business options. I tried a couple of the “free” ones but was not impressed with them. Primarily they only gave me one part of what I needed but not enough to really help me build a business. I still had to create my own website and then study all the tricks for driving traffic from social media, SEO and so on. I know nothing about this.However, during my search I did stumble upon a unique site, and I mean unique- called The Wealthy Affiliate.
You should know that I have been in the business world for over 30 years as an attorney and management consultant specializing in business development models. I do not say this for kudos, far from it; I say it so that you can see that I am an authority on this subject and that you can trust me and my opinions. This post is not meant to be a comparison between different sites and frankly, there are more scams than good ones. It is a review of an amazing and unique online business building site that I stumbled upon and have been using myself. I am building my retirement plan by creating multiple revenue streams that will continue to pay into my retirement because let’s face it; the Canadian government is not going not have money for me when I need it. I want to live well- and Wealthy Affiliate has been rated the #1 community in the world for creating and growing an online business.
Why? Most online business training programs are good, it’s not that they are all scams or do not work- actually there are some excellent ones out there that I have used and still recommend. The ones that say “they create the site for you” and do all the work- don’t. You still have a ton of work to do and it is not as easy as it seems. Others provide specific training such as social media or Google ads and are great because they are only intended for one purpose.
Wealthy Affiliate is unique in so many ways. Nowhere can you find the training, the community, the help, the free domain name and web hosting, the free websites already loaded with all the traffic generating apps, the tools with all sorts of materials ready to be used to get your business off on Day 1, and the expertise of over 400,000 people all in one place. With all of these services you have an incredible competitive advantage as an affiliate business owner within any industry or niche you want. It is a fabulous mix of Facebook, a blog, a university with courses and online classrooms, web designer, web host, and so much more.
Each course level has modules within which you complete “tasks” before you can move to the next module. There are minutely detailed videos that are fun to watch and tons of hand holding. You can’t move on until you have it right as each module builds on the last one- it's idiot-proof! The website builder is worth millions itself!You build your own with no technical skills needed. Step by tiny step build your own online business just the way you like it. The training literally walks you through how to set up a website with NO technical skills required. Many of the best tools to drive traffic and SEO your site have already been loaded and come as part of your template. So as you move thru the classes you are building the business and can begin making money from it even before it is finished.
No other site out there has an active community that participates in your success, let alone an online community at all. This is not only a big distinction but an important one. What a brilliant write up. You put it all in a nutshell. You have a way of putting on paper what other people (including myself) have in their mind but are unable to put into words. Well done Lori.
