Wordpress Inconsistencies - Picture Placements & Columnisation Coding
Hello All.
As a website constructing novice, I'm grateful to have been introduced to Wordpress - I would be hopeless at CSS. Wordpress is mostly intuitive and straightforward and allows the layman to do what would otherwise be impossible. But seems to perform with maddening inconsistency. Has anyone else noticed the following oddities? Has anyone else found solutions to these annoying issues?
When placing pictures, if your pictures have a caption for the picture, a border is created weather you want it or not. And you cannot place them sequentially, left to right. You cannot put one to the left and one to the right on the same line and have the text on your page flow between the two pictures. If you try placing more than one picture on the page they stack on top of each other all of their own accord.
However, if you add pictures without a caption, no border is created and you can place pictures sequentially, left to right.
I overcame the problem by using shortcode to columnise part of a page - fiddly but it worked. However, when I tried EXACTLY THE SAME THING on a second website, the shortcode displayed as visual text and the columnisation didn't work. (Even though the shortcode displayed correctly under the HTML tab in Wordpress Editor.

Hi Michelle. Oddly, I got the above inconsistencies using the same theme. It's good to know that different themes don't support columnisation though. Thanks! Ken.
