Hi Brian.
I'm just hoping it quits popping up. It seems to be a constant thing ... :-(

I was experiencing that also and after a little back and forth communication with site support--they fixed it

Hey Lokhi,

Here's a video to help you: Hope you find this information useful.

Trish,
The video actually does help and is very useful, thank you.

Log into Google Search Console. In the menu to the left go to Index > Coverage. Click on Errors and then scroll down to the details section. Click on Error in the states column to get more detail...

Thank you, I appreciate the help. I'm still working on fixing it, it's a struggle, but hopefully I'll get it done soon.

Any time.

I actually didn't mean to do that, I had thought I was selecting the size and position of my ads. I can be an airhead sometimes.

But these ads are in places that I don't

If you log into Adsense you should see a menu on the right side that says "Home" at the top. Click on the "Auto Ads" section - it will take you to the Auto ads screen.

Next you want to click on the pencil Icon in the Global settings section. This will take you to a page that should say "Auto ads global settings" at the top. There you'll see the different categories for each type of ad that is being displayed on your page. On the right side of each section, you'll see a switch for each section that you can toggle on or off.

Once you're done on this page, make sure to scroll down to the bottom and click the "Save" button. From what I've noticed, if you turn off your ads, they don't stop showing instantly. You may still have to wait a while to see the changes.

I hope this helps.

Thank you ... very, very much. I appreciate your help. :-)

Have a blessed day,
~Lokhi

Thanks! Happy to help :-)

Remove the code in the head where you placed it when applying for Adsense. Once you've been approved you don't need it anymore.

Now go back to Adsense and create your own Text and Image ads and use the plugin to place the ads where you want them.

I am always amazed at how much you know!

Thank you, Marion. I swear it was driving me crazy seeing those huge ads on my site. I can stop fussing at my monitor now ... :-)

Have a blessed day,

Hey Lokhi,

If you can, try setting your text back to your theme's default settings. Then if you don't like your theme, choose another one. I learned along time ago not to fiddle with the fonts as this can cause some major issues with the different browsers and devices.

Here's a great tutorial to help you find a more suitable theme: Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you, Trish ... I appreciate your help.
I went ahead and changed out the theme. The one I was using just wasn't making me happy. I found one that I like so much better.

Best Wishes,
~Lokhi

That was my understanding too, but after reading through the replies here, I'm seeing that it depends on the plugins and how well they work together. :)

Yeah I had a read after I did my comment and was surprised!
Great news though.

Can they? Yes.
Do they by themselves? No
As long as they "play well with each other", the total number is meaningless. Check out my blog I just published.

I have 23 plug-ins and about to add a couple more.

Mark

Thank you. I went over and checked out your blog. I have it starred for reference. Your blog post is very informative, I'm glad you shared it.

Hey Lokhi,

Yes, and some plugins are worse than others for slowing a website down, which is why it is suggested to limit our use of plugins.

Also, premium themes really are better in the long run as a good theme will reduce the need of many plugins.

However, you need to focus on Kyle's lessons for now and not worry so much at this point in time.

Chances are that once you complete the training you will want to change your theme anyway, and by then you will be able to focus on site speed issues too.

There are several different tutorials and blog tips that are offered here on WA that I'm certain whatever your need you will find the help in training and/or blogged tips.

Here's a tutorial to show you how to find helpful information here at WA: Hope you find this useful.

Thank you, Trish.

I decided to slow down on the site and get back to focusing more on the lessons and tasks ... which will probably have with a lot of the questions I have. :)

You're right about wanting to change my theme, I did exactly that but I know I'll probably change it again.

Definitely going to check out that link you shared.

Thank you, again. :)

So here's the deal. I actually have 11 plugins on my site. Plugins take processing power and, as such, they can slow the site down. The trick is to use quality plugins that are well coded. These will be the most efficient and won't slow your site down (as much).

Thank you for this. I've been using plugins that incorporate the processes of other plugins, so it cuts down on the amount of plugins. It doesn't seem to affect the speed, so I'm running with it ... for now. :)

plugins are really useful, but there are some that can really effect your site speed. The best thing is to check how many downloads it has had and when was the last time it was updated. If it hasn't been updated in a while, it might no longer receive support. Which can effect your site speed, but more importantly your site security.
You will always need plugins, if your site speed is good, then i wouldn't worry too much about the number at this point.

John

I read your reply, then went immediately over to my site dashboard to look at the plugins that I have installed. I wanted to check the update thing, the downloads, etc. I always check the ratings and the reviews, but lordy, I didn't even think about how long it's been since they've been updated and such.

Thank you for this.

~L

no worries, it is a good metric to check whether they are safe or not to use. A couple of weeks is fine, but if it hasn't been updated for 6 months it shows that the developers have given up on that plugin...

Yes, they do slow it down. But if you prioritize speed, you can choose the least slow plugin for what you need. Just test before and after you install it to decide if its slowing you down.

Some plugins are great. Just try keeping it under 10.

Thank you. I'm slowly working my way to that part of the training ... unfortunately, I got ahead of myself when I was working on the site.

Right now, I have 6 ... or 7. I think it's 6, though. :)

It's really not the number of plugins if you do it right and you add speedier plugins that work well together, plus plugins like lazy load, you can have quite a lot.

That said, I try to only use what I absolutely need!

Hi, ML,
Maybe this can help: All the best.

Thank you, KL.
I'll check that out (I haven't quite got that far in the training yet). I've been told that I'm a bit too focused on the site. :)

You are doing fine, ML.
Just take it one step at a time.
