Did I really read this in live chat? Are you kidding me? [rant]

I am rarely in live chat, but I do follow up sometimes along the sidewalk. Also getting involved by sending people answers using PM. But I am really shocked when I read some replies!

We suppose to be helpful and supporting, encouraging and accompanying.

Live chat conversations

Telling people to take a hike????

Too lazy to explain what affiliate marketing is...???

Never heard of that one, but perhaps it's a fact, but not really an encouraging one...

You are kidding me, really????

Please people, who are attending the live chat, watch your language, be helpful and answer correctly, don't send people over to their referrer, Google or YouTube to find answers themselves.

They are in live chat to get instant answers from YOU.

Not to be send over to Google, Not to get a kick in the ass, and not to be discouraged!

Always remember, you are talking to a referral of someone here, you also don't want people that they talk to your referrals this way!

I agree Loes I have seen a few comments etc that are not nice nor helpful and sometimes the people who are trying to help get the short end of nasty remarks to ... but that is people for you unfortunately I have often said to my grandchildren if we took the people out of the world it would be a far better place.

That's for sure Katie, people van have strange habits to mess things up

I sometimes send people to Google when I don't know the answer, I'll admit to that. But I would never tell someone to take a hike or tell them that they will work for months with no return. When folks ask how long it takes to make money, I always link to one of Kyle's 'expectation' posts that I have bookmarked.

Also, if I search the main search var and find multiple pieces of training created by members I will usually tell someone if they 'search for X' that there are multiple pieces of training that they can choose from, mostly because I haven't taken any training on that subject (like Pinterest).

Last night I watched too relative newbies get into an argument over whose answer was correct (BOTH were wrong, btw). I get frustrated sometimes when folks ask a question and three of us answer, and only one answer is correct,

I support you 100% on this, and I'm in LiveChat 4-8 hours every day.

Mel, you are one of the persons I admire in live chat, short, to the point, accurate answers

Thank you so much Loes, that means a lot to me... 20+ years on a corporate helpdesk were not wasted on me... lol

Good one Loes! You tell 'em!

Just like the question feaure here, when a member asks question, some answer like 'oh ive heard of it but sorry can't help'.

Why you bother to answer the thread then if you can't answer??

Live chat, is similar, in that you are either asking for help or giving advice.

If you say look on google or Wa hosting no good, it is you that needs to quit and leave WA.

You know, you can delete those answers, to get your question back in the unanswered section

I've been in live chat a few times where new people get extremely frustrated if they don't like the answer you give to their question. I can count on one hand (2) the number of new people who have been very abusive in chat that I have seen. I drop in when I can and when I see someone being abusive I can only take it for so long before I feel the need to say something--constructive--not critical. These people--like I said, there are only few--make the Live Chat miserable for others who are genuinely seeking help and answers.

So I guess I just wanted to put my 2 cents in here. Live Chat is a wonderful way for new members to get answers but there are times when it can be a bit tricky for all of us who are trying to be helpful. Alanna

I know live chat is a wonderful opportunity to get instant answers, rudeness, from both sides, newbies and established members, don't belong there.

I very seldom go into Live Chat but do monitor it when I can. A great way to pick up on some good training and tips. (Keeps me from asking silly questions)
Have seen some pretty weird stuff too, but it is what it is. Some questions should not be asked and some answers not given.
Sanders

Yes, I focussed on the answers, but you are so right, there are indeed some very stupid questions too:)

I haven't seen those exact cases, but I'm commenting generally to this subject.

Some people find it easier to ask in a forum or a chat than trying to browse through a lot of search engine results. I also know some people who are not so good with Google and coming up with good search terms. They shouldn't be punished for asking.

Because this community has a live chat feature, it should be ok to ask anything there, even very basic questions.

That's right, and they have the right to get a decent answer too

Yes, exactly!

Just ridiculous. I think it works automatically. If the system sees there was an ANSWER, however ridiculous it was, the question is considered answered. The person might not have a chance to get a valid answer to their question. And maybe they will never ask another question. I think I wouldn't.
But with me, it was lucky. I used to get up to ten, or even more helpful answers to my questions. So live chat really works, if we use it thoughtfully....:)

Most of the time live chat is very helpful Vera. But sometimes... I really have to shake my head over it

Yep... I sometimes think some people just try to boost their rankings writing there or asking funny questions.Questions which have been asked thousand times.
I understand life chat is done for some burning issues, that is something to be dealt urgently. But when people ask about differences of ranking by Google and Bing, for example- just search for it- it's been asked many times..Just my take on it...:)

I know, live chat is amazingly good working to get your ass into the ambassador's seat:)

Oh, really??...:))

I entirley agree with you Loes.
I see a lot of useless crap that are supposed to be helpful answers to specific questions.
99% of the time it will do more harm than good and the sad part is the new members wont know the information they are getting is crap.

I don't go on Live Chat very often myself but when I do I know I have the answer to a particular question.

I can point people in the right direction where they will find useful information.

Oh well we are all supposed to learn from our mistakes so onwards and upwards.
have a great day Loes.
Robert

Thanks Robert, when they don't know the answer, they shouldn't try

No Probs Dear lady, I know members will agree or disagree on the kind of help they receive but at the very least people should try to give information that could help them even if it turns out it wont.
Have a great day over there in the Netherlands.
I'm off out into the glorious sunshine here in Edinburgh.
Might even get a tan lol.
Robert

Enjoy the sunlight Robert

This does occur. I was also a victim after the first 5 minutes I discovered WA. I signed up. Decided to check live chat out. Made the mistake of asking what WA is about, how you make money here and my blunder "how long does it take". The answer I got was "If you are here just for the money maybe this is not the place for you". I replied with "You are right maybe this is not the place for me". I was not in the mood for rudeness. As I wanted to close the tab another member jumped in and saved the day. I was a few seconds away from leaving and never to return again.

To this day I refuse to participate in Live Chat. I just get angry when I see things like that.

So do I, I get very angry, glad you stayed :) Most of us are very kind and helpful;)

For the first time I have decided to just quickly check out live chat. I had to smile. There is a guy looking for someone who can help him escape his country. You are an expert around here. Wanna help him or give some advise ??? :))))

I saw that one too, there must be millions of possibilities because millions went before him and reached Europe

Good for you for bringing this up.
The examples you show really do go against the spirit of WA.

I’ve not come across these kind of responses in live chat so far.
Maybe it’s just the time of day that I log on to live chat, but so far the guys have always been helpful and polite to anyone asking questions.

Luckily, most answers are really helpful:)
