7 tips for the starter

You start your site at siterubix.com

I wrote this blog for starters, because I had to adjust so many things, which I had done right at the beginning if I only knew the "how to"

What do you have to know after first the steps you make.

1. Every picture you add, you have to give alt tag

alt attribute should be used to describe the image. So if you have an image of a big blue pineapple chair you should use the alt tag that best describes it, which is alt="big blue pineapple chair."
title attribute should be used when the image is a hyperlink to a specific page. The title attribute should contain information about what will happen when you click on the image. For example, if the image will get larger, it should read something like, title="View a larger version of the big blue pineapple chair image."

2. Give some pages an outbound link, a link to another site.

It is good to link to another page of your own website too.

3. When you purchased your own domain, correct your privacy policy (about 10 times it is saying siterubix.com

4. Use every keyword phrase only once, every page and post needs its own phrase.

In the article you can use it frequently, but donnot use the same keyword in different blogs.

5. Make sure your keyword appears in the first paragraph of the copy

6. Try to avoid the words "of, is, be, etc" in your keywordphrases, use preferably

nouns.

7. Write on every page or blog at least 300 words, more is better.

Good advice, Loes!

I am honored to hear that from you, Carla

Thanks Loes. Good info I didn't know.

I just wake up with it:)

Great tips Loes :)

Thanks Crystal

Thank Loes. Very useful. I don`t think I have put Alt tags to the images in my website. How can I do it?

Click the little pencil and add at the alternative text box

Sounds like lessons well learned!

Hi Melanie, I just did it twice, because I got a lot of these things wrong, so it was a good lesson:)

Good advices, but 200 to 300 words seems to be a little bit too short for a normal post, even if there's no rule about it. The average post lenght is today about 600 to 800 words. But one is for sure don't write more than your content need.

Glad not every post has 800 words :)

Hey, Loes - great article. What is an alt tag? I have tons of pictures on my site! M

You put your keywordphrase/ most likely is that the same as your page title, into your background of the picture, in the box alternative text

When you add a picture, you usually see the name that you downloaded it with and you need to change it so a dash is between each word. For ex: baby_boy would need to be changed to baby-boy. Then there is a space for a description and under that you see alt tag. That is the description that someone sees when they hover their mouse over the picture. I always change mine to the same thing I named it with but without the dash. ex: baby boy. I read something on here somewhere (lol...that's my memory for you) that recommended putting something in the alt tag box that you want the reader to see, such as "ways to play with baby boys" or "go to babyboyscom". I haven't changed any of mine yet even though I plan to do something different the next time I upload a picture. Hope this helps and I'm not completely off the mark. Someone correct me if I am.

Thanks! Looks like I have a bit of work ahead of me! Somehow, I missed that one. M

Thanks! That's helpful info! M

I put in my keywordphrase at alternative text and the name in the caption where I want to have a name, otherwise I leave it blanc, and a pagelink on the picture from the page where it's on, to prevent losing costumers

Thank you for clearing that up. I figured I wasn't recalling what exactly when in the alt box. Now I remember why I need to go back and change those.

When we see a pic of a Girl, we can instantly recognize it. But the Search Engine bots can’t see and identify like us. They need clues to understand an image. ALT text helps them to identify an image. It also helps images to get a better rank on image search engine.

Thank you! You are right and I have been working on changes those items.

Thanks for some great tips, they will surely come handy for us newbies.
