So here in Taiwan, Yahoo is still King. It is one of about 4 countries where Yahoo outperforms Google. In fact, Yahoo is co-owned by a Taiwanese guy, and it is the single most visited website in Taiwan. Yahoo.com.tw also has way more options and services than a single search engine.
Anyway, I have some friends with businesses here in Taipei, and their websites do OK, but I think with my knowledge I can help them to rank a lot higher in Yahoo and Google. (Google IS slowly increasing in useage here). My question is though, do the same local marketing methods in this classroom apply to yahoo? I imagine using "Taipei" in their keywords is going to work no matter what search engine is being used, but would things like Google places, google +, and local directory lists (yelp.com etc) boost Yahoo local rankings too? Any ideas?

Could you provide a sample screenshot of a typical local business search using Yahoo in Taiwan? By looking the serp, I could help you out.
For example, maid service or carpet cleaning
