Hello wonderful family, Good morning, good afternoon or good evening to you.

Firstly I want to say sorry for peoples sites not working properly, it has been because my site has been being attacked for the past 2 days and still happening.

Support has been fighting it all the way and they have put my site on a server all by its lonesome.

Hopefully, your sites will be okay now!

@tdbabineaux (Terry) asked me about living in Tenerife so I thought I would show you some pictures. These are of Lanzarote which is one of the other Canary Islands but it is basically the same as Tenerife.

The photos were taken today.

There are 8 Canary Islands, they are situated off of the west coast of Africa but they belong to Spain and are Spanish speaking.

As you can see the flowers still grow in December!

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and it has the highest volcano in Europe. It has not erupted since 1907 but it is considered to be active.

Tenerife's main produce that it exports is Bananas. They are a lot different than those from most other countries because they are smaller and in my opinion sweeter.

Tenerife is one of only 7 microclimates in the world and that means the weather here can be very different in different parts of the island.

You can go a couple of miles and it will be very windy, another couple of miles and it is baking hot and has no wind. Go to the North and it's very green because it rains a lot. The South is very dry and may only see up to 7 days of rain a year.

There are Palm trees and Lizards that are native to the Canary Islands.

I was sunbathing today on Christmas day. I also know people were doing the same in Australia, but here it is winter and there it is the start of summer.

People who live in Europe come here in the winter months because it is a warm place. Tourism is Tenerife's main industry. The peak season is winter Sun from November to March when it is still often 20 + degrees C.

In the Summer months, it can hit 40 and even 50 degrees C but it is a dry heat.

The Volcano has stopped erupting on La Palma and it has not spewed any Lava for 10 days.

We have visited Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote so a few more to go.

There are internal flights between the islands that take between 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

Our families mainly live in England and they come and visit us as opposed to the other way around.

If you ever want to know anything feel free to ask me.

Merry Christmas.

Lisa :-)

Beautiful Islands, Lisa. Interesting about those micro climates as well.
My only question at this time is why is China building a naval base off the coast of west Africa and how close is it to your Island? I have not trusted the motives of China for years, and we are at a point in the U.S. that we have the weakest leadership that we have ever had.
Is there any talk in your part of the world about China being a threat there?
Archie

Hey Archie,
Not heard anything about China building a naval base and cannot see that being true as there is no landmass big enough on any of the islands near us.
The islands are all European owned and don't think they will be collaborating with China.

Hey Archie - the Chinese are attempting to build a military base in Equatorial Guinea, which is about 6,ooo kms / 3.500 mies away from Tenerife (to the southeast of the islands)

China's interest in Africa is natural resouces - especially the rare elements required for electronics. Currently, according to Forbes magazine, the Chinese have invested over $300 billion across the whole of Africa with a $60 billion aid package also on the table.

Also, according to the same article, Chinese firms in Africa are worth some $2 trillion! Africa is now China's biggest overseas trading partner, trading $2 billion per year.

One could almost say that global economics are the new world wars.

Apologies Lisa, didn't mean to hijack your feed !

No Problem Dom. What you have written is very interesting to know and makes sense as Africa has tons of mineral resources.

They actually made an Island off the coast of the Philippines, Lisa, and declared it as theirs; even though it is within 3 miles of Philippine coastline. Real purpose is to control entry into China Sea.
Archie

Hi Dom. I appreciate the additional information. I am aware of the base projected in Equitorial Guinea but was told by a trusted friend that a naval base is going in off the west coast of Africa somewhere. I hope he is wrong but I am concerned that China is interested in more than just mineral resources.
Archie

Looks fantastic Lisa, although I do my best to get to mainland Spain at least a couple of times a year, sometimes the Balearic islands too, the canary's on the other hand I have not visited for a long time...

Hopefully that will change in the next couple of years though! You might even find me knocking on your door one day waiting for a poolside mojito!!:-))))🍹

Having you knocking on my door would be awesome Nick :-)

I'll hold you to that my friend... one day it may just happen!!:-)))

Just make sure you have a Ribeye waiting for him, Lisa! 🥩🙄

Not a problem being married to a Chef :-)

I look forward to it! :-)

Haha, I wouldn't suspect that would be, Lisa! Thank goodness, he is a successful one!

Jeff

Mind you I can cook a rare steak as well. Had a good teacher:-)

I'll bet that you can, Lisa! 🥩

Jeff

Will get to meet you one day as well my friend :-)

I certainly hope so, Lisa! That would be awesome!

Jeff

I think so too my friend :-)

You are very correct in your assessment, Lisa!

Jeff

I think we are on the same wave length Jeff :-)

I know that we are, Lisa!

Jeff

A ribeye poolside barbie Jeffrey!🥩🥩🤣

I look forward to it too Lisa!:-)))

Doh! Now why didn't I remember THAT part, Nick?? 🙄🥩

Now remember, Lisa--a ribeye poolside Barbie for Nick! 🙄😳

Maybe too much festive 'spirit' still flowing through your veins Jeff?🤣

But what can I say, the door was open after all!! 🍺🍷🐫

I won't forget our barbie faces the pool :-)

Just as a barbie should do dear friend!:-))🤣🥩

Yes, Nick! It was, my friend! I saw the opportunity, and took it, just as you have many times!

🐫🐶🐪🍺🥩

Got to have a mean Mohito as well Nick :-)

You are both very adept at taking opportunities Lol :-)

🤣🤣 Perhaps, Nick!

🍺🍺🐫

A door slightly ajar will almost always needs further investigation Jeffrey!!🐫🤣🍺

Nothing better than a good strong, mean mojito when relaxing poolside Lisa!!:-) 🍹🍹

With the poolside ribeye barbie, of course, Nick!🤣

Very true my friend :-)

🤣🤣🍺🍺🐫

Absolutely my friend!:-)🤣🍹🍹

They still cannot fix my site!!!

And today Lisa? Is it fully functional again yet my friend??

I am still hopeful that someday I shall buy a property there, the pandemic ruined plans. From what I see there are always considerable monthly community taxes attached to properties that are on the market, those that are built in separate complexes, sometimes gated. Wonder how this is in the area where you are.

I used to live in Santa Cruz and never needed heating, a perfect place.

You are right about microclimate. From Santa Cruz, in several hours walk you are in a completely different climate; wet and mild if you go to the north, and cold and dry if you go up. It is a bit warmer where you are, but you are a lucky person to be there.

Some complexes have big community fees but not all of them. We love living in the South where it hardly ever rains and is predominantly sunny.
Have a great day :-)

Lisa, Lisa… your site did not cause the DDOS attack. Don’t apologize or hold that weight on your shoulders!

It was a somewhat common cyber attack that happens from time to time online and it affected some websites on WA’s servers, but as usual WA took care of things swiftly.

It wasn’t caused by your site. Even if there was an event where someone hacked your site directly that wouldn’t affect my site, as an example.

No apology needed :)

Okay, Thank you, Eric. I was just saying what support said that it was my site being attacked and it was moved to a server all on its own :-)

yeah a DDOS attack is an attack on a network or server, the effects of which can result in sites on that server being down or super slow.

:) It wasn't your site causing the temporary slow down. Don't worry.

Okay. Thank you :-)

It sounds funny Terry :-)
