Hello there I too have a problem on 2 of my posts, I started to go through the process of linking onto Amazon and somehow on my highlighted wording on my posts if you put the cursor over it it comes up amazon but when you press on it it does not link to the Amazon website it comes up with 404 error, and I know theres the Labmans helpful video but for someone who understands it. Im finding this problem extremely hard for me I don't have enough knowledge I think to understand the process of getting rid of the error theres quite I process it seems, so if anyone out there knows an easier process to get rid of the 404 error please help. I cant carry on with my site until I clear this up? any help most grateful for. My website is theworldofastrology.com

hmm...I believe your problem might be the amazon affiliate link you are using. Try only copying the link that is within the quotation marks when you pull up the amazon code. Not sure if this will help, but let me know!

Hello, again! There is a way to make a Static Page. I downloaded your Theme, along with you, and it is there. I will PM you, again, with the instructions. I don't see any 404 Errors. I also don't see your Pro Se Problem Page...where did it go? I know how much you loved it!

Linda, I can relate to the total frustration of those 404 error codes.
Here is how I got it corrected. However, I am just relating how it was resolved for me, personally, so I'll not try to second guess if it will work for everyone.
I was being plagued with 404 error code for a number of weeks and having tried all I could think of, even asking the community, I got desperate and did the following.

I went back to my original blog template, and contacted the creator of that particular template. After explaining what I was having trouble with, the creator of my template, took the initiative to correct it for me.

However, for him to do so, I had to give him access to my WP back office, which included giving up my log in information. He accessed my WP on 2 or 3 occasions. Afterwards, along with a few more emails to him, everything was working perfect. He even went a wee bit further and fine tuned everything to make it better than it was before.

After all, the template I was using was his "baby" and he wants to promote it.

No only was I impressed, but now I'm a "happy camper" because everything is working better than ever.

What next? I just simply changed my WP log in information so that now I am the only one that has access.

Hope you can get it fixed soon.

Linda, I had a look at your site (I think it's great BTW) but I couldn't find any pages that gave me errors. I use Chrome browser, and all pages seemed to work correctly. I did notice that your home page is actually your Blog page.
You could create a page just by itself, - not a post, but a new page, and call it Home, or Welcome, and link Home button to that page. (A suggestion to keep your landing page to a minimum size)

Did you change urls as well by moving around pages?

Yeah....it looks like the articles are missing for the links. You may want to delete them and re-post them (with the appropriate date).

My first question would be is this a new symptom? If your pages were working previously and are now getting errors, is there a chance that you added code for an affiliate link or something like that? Try and remember that last time it worked and what you have changed since that time. Try undoing the changes.

If it has never worked, you may want to remove the pages and try recreating them. Leave out any additional links (like pictures, etc). at first, and then add them one at a time to see if one of them is causing the errors.

Allanb555, I will try your suggestion. I have tried everything else. Yes the site was running fine until. I had the idea to improve pages. I moved pages around and all sort of improvements to content. Wow, did I learn not to move things not knowing what I am doing. This has been a very long week and it is just Monday. thanks you again.

Hope it works. Let me know how it goes. happy MONDAY! : )

My blog here will explain it for you

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/bazboy247/blog/the-static-home-page

Barry

bazboy247, Thank You.

Go to the page you want to make static under the edit page option. On the left menu go to appearance, the customize. there you will see static page option. Check box and your done. Hope that helps.

Keldubry, the page I want is not showing up on the menu list under customize. When I click view site from the dash board. It opens my Blog. I want it to open the Home page where the page I want is located. The home page is not in the list under customize. however it does show on the menu list of the site.

However you bring your page up, choose edit page, then you can make it your static page by going under the appearance menu option in the customize section on the left menu bar. I hope I am understanding your question, if not, I apologize.

Keldubry, That page is not showing up under that menu. Tell me is there a maximum number of menu items in that list. maybe, I need to eliminate one of those items in that list. this is making my head hurt.

Check under your posts.

The easiest way to do this is as follows:

Make sure your landing page is a "Post"
Click "Quick Edit" within your dashboard
Click the box that says "Make this post sticky"

Steveo5770, Thank you for the reply. The page I want seems to be showing up as a page and not showing up under post. what should I do?

Still having an issue? I can help!

You can always create a post, paste the content from the page into the post, then delete the page.

Yes, Please advise.

I will PM you...

What's the difference between an "article heading" and a "page title"?

Hi Linda! -

How are you!

Is there a reason you have chosen - not to follow the training?

Kyle teaches us to use - 'All In One SEO Pack'.

I hope you don't mind me asking! :)

Hi Davy, No I don't mind you asking at all. I had my site competed and setup with the all in one SEO for a while. I have been studying and viewing a lot of the live video classes in WA and other sites. and Several referred to yoast SEO as a good visual SEO. I am going back now trying to tweak my post and pages to rank better now that I know a little bit more about optimization and monetizing my site.

That is excellent!

So you have managed to achieve all that since August - that's very good going! :)

I see Carla's response and she is right on! Do I need to be doing something...like you have explained? This is new to me!

I guess I am tired. I am using yoast SEO and I have tried everything to get my article heading and page title light to turn green. Now, I am on a mission to find out what the difference is and where each are in the post or page. thanks every one for your help in advance. I need to do this for every post and page of my site.

To me, an "article" equates to a post. So a post title or heading is what's at the top of your post. A "page title" is what you name a page. Posts and pages are two different things. Hope this helps!

That is a good question actually now that you brought it up. Sometimes mine are the same, but a lot of the time I make a heading then create a different title that is relevant to the heading of course. Curious to see some of the input here. Thanks for asking. :))
