Almost three years with WA-my journey
As I joined WA in November 2019, I think it was time to write something more about myself and this incredible journey in the online world, and my experiences here on this platform.
I am kind of at a "turning" point in my life, now that I have joined the 50+ "older, middle aged" people of this world (euh, really? Where did this come from lol)
I now have acces to yogaclubs with a huge discount and "gym for the elderly" , seriously? whahaha
Anyway... got a bit sidetracked there;-)
When I joined WA in 2019, I litteraly knew NADA , NOTHING, ZERO about affiliate marketing, let allone build a website.
But kind of being "forced" to do online work from home, because of health reasons and an horrific journey in my life in that part (I had to quit my 9 to 5 desk-job) , and doing this and that online, a former friend pointed me to WA and I was hooked.
I wànted to make this work, I was being this stubborn old Lizzy, making the teachers at school going crazy with her silly questions and observations and some people here must have thought: "That's something strange or stupid to ask".
So , the first 6 months, I am telling you: I was struggling!
I didn't understand this, or that, and I often got lost in the rabbit hole, drowning in information and basicly not posting good blog posts and hoping that I will get to see some earnings, which it didn't...
Shouting at my screen: "why am I still doing this then, it doesn't make any sense"!
And while I was already chronicly ill (ever since I got a kidney disease at 27, I never really recupareted from it), then there was Covid19..
Although it was a "mild case", I feel overwhelmed with fatigue some days and I cope with cognitive decline and brain fog. (well, that could be the beginning of menopauze to, so there you go :-p )
But here comes the stubborn part again of Lizzy: move on! And I know that I am intelligent enough to make this work.
Luckily enough, I now have a partner who is completely behind me on this journey and I know that I am blessed for that, so kudo's to him as well!
I got a little side tracked again (I blaim my hormones), so anyway, my journey with WA.. lol
So, about 6 months further, I finally got the hang of it: my writing got better, my skills got better (thank you @Jay from Magistudio's for explaining things so clearly!), my social media pages finally got some life into it, and I now focus on three main affiliate companies for my website.
At first, I was amazed that people even got to 5000 visitors a month on their website and I thought it would be impossible for me, in my niche.
Results after three years of struggle, frustrations and rabbit holes that were way to deep?
(keep in mind that I can only post about a maximum of 2 posts per week because of fatigue, most of the time it is just one)
- I now have about 16K views per month, and it is growing faster at this very moment then it ever did. ( I do believe this is because I made some SEO adjustments lately ànd have been focussing on writing articles with fantastic low hanging fruit keywords)
- There is a HUGE difference in my articles then the ones from 3 years ago and people on social media appreciate my honest review on things, just be yourself!
- I have a growing Youtube channel as well, and I'm quite sure that I will have 1000 subscribers by the end of the year, so I can get some earnings from that as well. Thanks to the lessons here about Youtube as well!
- my email list is growing as well, although I probably am not investing enough time on it
- I now have the confidence to go redising my website/homepage one day, it is on the to-do list. Partly just for fun as well, and it is a new-found interest of mine: graphic design, maybe one day ;-)
- my hobby and passion is dollhouses and miniatures, no , not the Barbie-thing, but well designed houses and miniatures in all kinds of styles and themes. Fairy gardens being one of my favorites.
It is FANTASTIC that compagnies that I love, like the miniature kits from Robotime, reach out to me for coöperation or sending free products! (yeah, I know that they mostly reach out to me for their own profit, but still, keep those fancy miniature kits of 100€ and more comming :-p )
- I love the fact that I have a FB group of almost 4000 members and 1200 followers on Pinterest ( 885K views per month).
The question you all must be asking by now: am I banking? Right? You can admit it haha
Well honestly: not yet.
I am making just enough to pay for premium plus membership here, hosting, one or 2 payed plugins, and hiring a writer for my second new website.
(I hope that this second website will cover the fewer income I get from my first website during the summer, as that is the season when nobody seems to craft lol).
Maybe I will hire someone (from here) to take a look at my website and to see what I can improve, besides more blog posts, obviously. (am I not linking enough to my money pages? The user experience isn't good? I have no clue).
See: I think that I am overthinking things again, that's those hormones I guess :-)
I finally have my hopes up that I will hàve a minimum wage sooner or later and that the taxman in my country can finally come and tax the hell out of me. *grin

Awesome job Lizzy. I have a suggest if you want someone to look at your website why don't you put in for comments and let the community look at it.

that is a good suggestion for the user experience side of things, and I will surely give it a try, but I also wonder if my SEO is any good and what a professional would say about it.
Tried to apply a few times for the "hot seat" here, but sadly Jay doesn't seem to do these anymore ;-)
thanks !
Well what I would do, is get some comments and take it from there.
I can't remember if on the comments did it ask about SEO can be detected on the website.
I am not sure, I have been gone for awhile and there have been changes made. I am still feeling my way around.

This was an excellent read, Lizzy! You seem to be well on your way to even more success! Very well done, indeed.
I hit five years in November, but goofed oof entorely for the first year and a half, just deleting emails and the like. My business was booming then and so I did not have the time to devote here, and I was also writing my book series at that time!
You have really come a long way and your work is paying off very well!
Greater things are in store for you! Keep Succeeding!

Nice to read a story like yours. I think that is all about with all business adventures. I bring more spirits in me. From my past experience I could that my weakness is about wanting to have the result now, no result now, then move on. But I am getting wiser now, probably because of age, I am also in 50+ groups like you. Patience and persistence will bring me someday to the goal I set up. Thanks for the story.
welcome and good luck with your journey!
