It's been a while since I have blogged and the truth of the reason behind that is becasue I have been going in way too many directions at once. I have started new websites only to realise there is no way I can run all of them at once with the time that I have. I have the typical entrepreneurial disease-too many ideas and passions and shiny object syndrome. On top of that-I have a feeling of financial pressure which is also part of the problem of being focused. I keep looking for a 'better' option to bring money in faster.

So I had to sit down and get real. I looked at what's working already in terms of what I have done so far...and the truth is, most my income from blogging has come from ONE blog post on my very first website. It is a review post which has been sitting on page one position one of google for at least 18 months...It recently slipped to position 2, but hey-it's still there.

I had been doubting my niche and doubting my direction which is why I thought I should start more websites. But, the truth is, I think that until you have msstered the first site and have several blog posts sitting and earning on page one, you probably shouldn't start another website. This can get boring of course-but that is all part of the journey. Focus on one thing. Master it. Get the results. THEN move on....

So, I guess what I am saying is WRITE THE REVIEWS PEOPLE! And write reviews on products that are new to the market in some way. This is where I have had my biggest success. The timing was right, the keywords were right and the product is quality (it is an info product) Research the product, buy them. live them. Yes, this is slower and takes a lot of time. But I think it is actually the best long term strategy and your best chance of deliving real quality and value to your audience.

I will be refocussing once again. I think I might even take all the training again! Thanks for reading. :)

Thank you Liz for this very pertinent advice. This is just what I needed to hear and now I have the big task of acting on what you have suggested. I have built about 10 sites and it is way too many to keep up with as you have found and stated in your blog post. .
I am going to have some time in the next few weeks so that is what I will focus on.

Great! Glad I could help you gain some clarity!

This is something that I have been internally fighting with myself. I keep seeing shiny objects but so far I have been able to keep myself focused on my one site.

What I found helped me while I was waiting for my pages to be indexed and ranked was to go back to my post and go over them and see where maybe I could improve. Whether it be updating the content or getting more relevant photos. It has helped me so far.

Great advice! Thanks for the tip. :)

Congrats!

Congrats Liz and thanks for sharing!

Well done Liz - Success stories help us all.

Cheers

Thank you for your excellent and encouraging blog post-Liz. It is great that your blog post has stayed on page 1 of Google for so long, just imagine if you had multiple blog posts on page 1 of Google how much this could earn you!

I hear what you are saying about having too many websites, I have been there and there is only so much that you can do in a day.

Enjoy your weekend.

Roy

I know right??!1 That's what I keep kicking myself for at the moment-if I had just stayed the course, I'd be a lot further ahead now I think with less financial stress...but ahwell. Lesson learned...

At least you are on the right track now Liz, good things ahead!

The shiny object syndrome is what I call my problem. I always seem to start more than I can handle. You are right, master one before you move on. Wise words. I like your advise in writing reviews. This is something I have not done.

Thank You for sharing....

It think one of the reasons I didn't keep up with the reviews is because I thought 'surely it can't be that simple', and 'isn't that kinda boring?'. You see all these gurus online with their big brands and their multiple social media channels and their huge launches and big advertising budgets and you kind think you need to be aiming for all this too. But the truth is, in order to make money online, you really don't have to do much of any of that. Just find a topic that interests you. Check for affiliate programs. Ideally buy the product you want to review and be passionate about it. Research the keywords and write a good review. Rinse and repeat!

Awesome!! Hard to believe it is as simple as that. Your post clarified my first objective. I appreciate you sharing your insight and experience.

Can I ask? you choose the way to write a review is actually buy that item-> then use it-> then write a personal review on that product? how about at the beginning when you first write a review for the task in the training?

I am a fan of Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income and that is what his advice is when it comes to effective affiliate marketing because when you really embrace the product you are more credible and speak from true authenticity. I am into info products and in the personal development niche so I feel this way is probably more relevant than if I were into physical products. I want to walk my talk if you know what I mean??

Thanks for sharing, Liz.

Pleasure!

Thanks for the info.
