Roller Coaster of Google
The last two weeks have been literally highs and lows from Google Analytics and my graph literally looks like a roller coaster!
Just when I was going up, I go back down, then up and then go back down even lower, then today, an all time high for the month!
I really don't get Google... I think I have to just expect this from Google, there's always going to be up's and down's because not every single site can rank at a high all the time, so that's why the dips?
No idea.
Though, I know on Fridays and Saturdays, my traffic always go down, but last week, it was going to down more mid-week which was worrisome.
Then, Tuesday, all time high for the month!
Crazy!
It's hard for me not to check everyday, I know I have a problem! Lol
I know it's a good traffic day though when I get new referrals. :)
Just wish those last 32 referrals will upgrade already!!! :(
Anyone else have a low upgrade rate lately?

I'm just using the generic reports that's available on the left side when you're logged in.
If you haven't set it up, it should be in the main training in the GREEN button on left menu here.

Ahhhh, the enigma of Google! It's a constant battle Grace and is fast becoming a bugbear of mine. That and not getting enough conversions!!!

Just have to keep churning out those darn posts and hope for the best. :)
I think it just has to do with offline life. Some niches dip on weekends while others prosper on weekends. The last 2 months have been not so great in regards to conversions for me, but I hear holidays are over in the States and its back to work. So in the last week conversions have picked up again. But before that i had 33 in July and only 1 went premium. So I wouldn't worry at all as its not a huge drop or anything like that. The trend of your graph is going up, which is very good :)
Thanks for your input Josh, I'm glad you also experience this! It's a relief to hear that. I was wondering why the more referrals I got the less premiums I got! Lol. Not cool... but hopefully I'll get better conversions in the Fall. :)
I just posted about my highs and lows for the week! I hadn't seen this yet.
I don't know what is going on but I was doing ok and then just crashed and now going back up. I don't have any sales, my revival of Flipboard totally isn't working...lots of downs.
On the other hand when I added a new post to my site and started requesting comments again everything soared! I have my first #1 post on Google now as well as my website name which has always been #1.
It is never boring!

I'll have to check out your post then. But yeah, just when I thought my site is finally gaining traction, it dips below the line that I thought I would be above from now on. It's frustrating and also great to see when it goes high again. Lol
I've stopped requesting comments from here because I don't want my traffic skewed by WA traffic. When you request it, mostly only your direct traffic goes up, not your organic search... that's my experience anyway. If it works for you, then awesome. :)

But if the comments raise the rank of our posts then they are more likely to be found by organic searchers. That is why I am doing it. I know the traffic is skewed at first but by raising the rank of the posts dramatically it seems to bring in more organics.
Yes comments work for sure as it adds word count to your posts and Google likes engagement. I just couldn't keep up commenting on so many sites really and I was starting to get organic comments.

Yeah, mine was worse than this but it's getting better. This just shows though even if it's getting better, you will still have dips.
Yes it's definitely hard not to look st those stats. You seem to have some good traffic flowing though. 32 referrals is awesome. Keep up the hard work

Hi grace - first half of the month was good conversions, but not the second half!. With google, I notice my traffic highs and lows normally comes from a few different pages - various reasons, but I think in one case, the company I was writing about must advertise or something strongly at different times and I suddenly get surges in traffic and then it goes back to normal again. So, it can really be up and down! But gradually rising overall, I guess that is the main thing.
Thanks Natalie, appreciate you letting me know your insights. :) Interesting on that one company. I do have an upward trend, but just wished it always stayed up.
