No More Ads for YouTube Accounts Under 10,000 Views

ACCOUNTS UNDER 10,000 VIEWS

Effective April 6, YouTube has stopped all ads for any account that has less than 10,000 views (lifetime)!!

This come quickly after big advertisers pulled their sponsorship after finding out their ads were getting served on videos that included racist language and other questionable content.

This limit restriction on ads is supposed to weed out these bad video content so they can't make any more money on it. As well, this is supposed to also weed out the accounts that profit by using other people's content.

They are also putting other measures in to make the application to be a YouTube Partner harder to get into the program.

MY ACCOUNT

To give you an idea how much 10,000 views is... My YouTube channel started mid-December, has 54 subscribers, 14 videos, and 1,280 views (lifetime).

Wow, I have a long way to 10,000 views.

I need to find out ways to increase my views and keep producing videos.

Anyone else affected by this?

If anyone want to give me more views, my channel link is in my profile, bottom right. You'll have to follow me to be able to see the links.

You just have to watch up to 15 secs, for sure 30 secs, to count as a view.

I will do the same for you if you have a YouTube Channel too, PM me. :)

Thanks for you support!

Nicely done, very good stuff on your channel, and your voice is very clear and to the point. Love it.

Bishop

Aww, thanks so much, so grateful for your views! :)

I have not started a channel thus far, but will take a look at yours if it helps, thank you for sharing.

Bishop

Thanks for your help Bishop! Any views you can offer would be awesome. :)

I did a few of them. Very clear voice and to the point.

Thanks so much!!

I've been hearing about this for awhile. I do have a channel, but I've never produced any videos for it. I'm just getting into blogging, though. At some point, I'm sure I'll find myself wanting to do something with youtube. Anyhow, I did find your channel and I subscribed. You have some very interesting videos, so you can expect to get several more views from me. :-) Best wishes and thanks for the valuable info!

Mark

Thanks so much for your help Mark! So appreciate this. :)

Hi, Grace...

I had heard about the change on Facebook (I forget which group) but really had not paid too much attention to it...

I do see your point though, and I am willing to help you out...Reciprocating would be appreciated hehe...I will even comment!

Thinking that I have one YT account posted on my profile page when you have a moment to return the favor, think it is the e-store channel...

Cheers!
Dave : )

Hi Dave, yes, I will do the same to your channel! Thanks so much. I will sub, like, comment, and definitely view as many as I can.

I'll do it throughout this week.

Thanks!
Grace

Thanks also....You have a great channel, I like what you have done...More sophisticated than mine for sure, and the icon is...catchy (a good thing)! Cheers! Dave : )

Thank you Dave, I've done some viewing and commented and liked some too. Will do more another day. :)

I have a YouTube channel but I've only added 3 videos I think. I haven't even checked the # of views. You know me Grace, I'm too busy writing :) I'm sure it won't be long before you reach 10k. Does this mean you cannot add affiliate links to the Description unless your channel has 10k views?

Each of my videos is accompanied by a blog post with 1K-2K words... so these are not just videos I've made for YouTube, I always write a detailed post about the video topic.

Yeah, I just have to make more videos and I'll get there to 10K views.

You can still have affiliate links in the description. They are only stopping ads being show in your video so you don't make money from Adsense.

Do you mean you write a blog on your website and embed the video from YouTube?

Are you planning to use Adsense?

Yes I write a whole post about what the video is about and usually has more tips or info about the topic, and embed the video there too.

I am using Adsense, you have to already be approved with Adsense in order to apply for the YouTube Partner Program (ad program for YT).

Just jumping in to clear something up.

As long as things haven't changed, the last sentence is incorrect.
It is usually much easier to get Adsense up and running on Youtube as it is for a website.
YouTube belongs to Google, so if you want to show ads on YouTube, you can just get a "hosted Adsense" account.
You might need a certain amount of subscribers, but then it is easy.

Again:
This might have changed. It is only my personal experience from a few years back.
Since they changed it that you need 10K views before you can display ads, they might have changed the requirements, too.

Maybe you or someone else can clear this up?

okay, thanks Grace

When I applied back in Dec, it seemed like you needed an Adsense account already.

But yea, the process is going to change, not sure what that will be yet, but they had mentioned they will be more stringent on approving future accounts for the YouTube Partner Program.

They definitely seem to make things more strict now.
Apparently, they are trying to get rid of people who were abusing their monetization system.

In the long run, that is good for us.
We are taught here at WA to do legit marketing.
It will pay off. :)

Yes I hope so! :P

Thanks very much for sharing, much appreciated. :)

carl

You're welcome, hope you liked this.

I guess we need a YouTube thread here to like YouTubes :)

Yes that would be cool... and for viewing each other's videos too. :)

Thanks for the info Grace .. Cheers, William.

You're welcome William. :)

Thank you for sharing this Grace, it is helpful to know the things.

You're welcome :)

Interesting.
I didn't know that.
Luckily, my channel has over 20.000 views. ;)

But it's an old account I am not even using anymore.
It doesn't make me much money anyways. :D

It's good to know for my future YouTube channels.

You only need one video that goes somewhat viral and you get those views.
Are you using SEO for your YouTube descriptions/titles?

Cheers
Moritz

Hi Moritz, yes I have SEO in my videos. It's just still new, my first month didn't have much views at all, most of the views were received within the last 2.5 months.

I had a look at your channel now, too, and agree with the others that your voice is great.
Clear and very easy to understand.

The SEO could be better though.
A few quick tips:

- Add the title of your video in the description in the first line

- Write much longer descriptions (nobody will read them, but the YouTube bots decide how to rank the videos after going through the description)

- Add only relevant tags in the "tag box".
That is very important. Add as many relevant tags as possible. BUT all those tags (we call them keywords here) must be in the description, too. Only add a tag, when it is in the description.
Otherwise, YouTube will punish you for "tag stuffing".
So, your description must be longer and really describe what the video is about. Try to put in the tags naturally in the sentences, of course.
Don't just list them in the description.

- Add a "secret tag"
That has to be a tag nobody else will use. Can be your channel name, if it is unique enough.
Use that secret tag for all your videos. After some time, YouTube will realize that those videos belong together. Then your videos will appear more often under "recommended videos" on the sidebar and after your video.

Hope that helps a bit.
Moritz.

Thanks for the tips Moritz. I will update those when I can. It's hard to write more after already writing a 1.5K word blog post for the video. Your tips are great and will follow best I can.

Yes,
that definitely can become a bit annoying.
Your YouTube descriptions don't need to be that long.
I hardly write more than 300 words in the descriptions.
Simply describe the video with words and put in juicy keywords. :)

Okay that doesn't sound as bad. :) I'll expand my descriptions then, thanks!
