Getting Started

ive started to build my website but still not 100% sure about my wesite name. Is there a way of changing it or do i have to start over again?

When you recreate from a backup you should be ready to go. Start researching .coms and word variations now Lisa!

Are you referring to the domain name? The address you type in to reach to your website?

Yes thats it (can you tell I'm new lol). Ive just created one on a free siterubix domain

Oh. Yeah, I think the only way you can change is if you save a copy of your theme and all your posts (download it) then create a new website with a new name and upload everything.

Kyle has an excellent training on how to backup your website that you should check out if it is that you've already made great progress with your website and don't want to start over:

Ok thanks for the help

Not a problem!

Keyword, Niche and Market Research

Newbie needs advice. I have 2 niches i want to work on, can i do more than one. Would you recommend it? or concentrate on one before working on another? Thanks

you really need to concentrate on just one so you can pin down all of the many things you need to do and focus on building it up.

After you get it indexed and getting some traffic, move over to another one.

I stuck to one until I finished the training and then created my second one. I would for sure recommend sticking to one Niche while building your website and going through the training

Be really good at one thing

Barry

You are gonna get answers both ways here. Here's my take and limited experience (20 months in WA).

Hell no!

Stick to just one and lay it on thick with that one fabulous blog rather than spread yourself thin across two (or more) blogs and end up compromising your quality.

Keeping on top of just one blog and keeping up with at least 3 fresh posts per week can be hard work. From keyword research to article research and writing, to making sure your SEO is all go to go to beautifying each post with images to managing your social media and comments (both getting them and giving them). Of course not forgetting your ongoing education and progress of training via courses or Jay's weekly webinars and yep - email marketing.

I still find two sites a lot of hard work I tried it and fairly quickly hit the pause button on the second site as the quality was getting compromised on my main and at the time year old site.

Once your site is successful and gaining traction via the search engines and you are getting sales, then by all means out source your content creation by hiring a writer. Once your content is 100% outsourced have a thought about a second niche site.

Finally, after 20 months I am just about ready for site 2, and will most definitely be bringing my paused niche back to life in about 3/4 months time!.

Oh and I add I do WA full time as I am lucky enough to have an income source that required zero seconds work per year, from which I live and pay my bills from!.

Thanks for the valuable advice
Lisa

I need to know your secret :D

Simple. Work Hard, follow the training and never miss a webinar!

You could work on more then one niche, but when your just stating out like me, I would suggest to focus on one niche and one website because your still learning.

Kyle suggests one niche and concentrate only on that. I agree

First see if you can blend them in one cover niche with two categories Lisa. If that's not feasible you have to rank them both in terms of passion and monetization and pick one prioritizing on those attributes.
When you feel comfortable with one. Start a site with the other. Steady as she goes. No race here!

I can actually blend the two niches as they are kind of related, but would this mean im going too broad?

You have to define what the reader audience is and best ways to target them.

Not necessarily so as long as they are related. For my main niche, I was actually thinking about making a second specific for a related one but I cover it rather nicely not as a category but is mentioned in my content when it is appropriate as it is very related. I will be making a category. It is called diversification.

Sort of like you open a pizzeria and you sell besides Pizza, some pasta, spaghetti and drinks too and not just Pizza's!

Focus on your main niche though then, over time diversify. Jay has it all very well explained here.

And btw - you should be looking to diversify your niche anyway!
