This community has been so kind and helpful to me, I wanted to give something back, hope this helps!

I have seen many people in the Wealthy Affiliate community ask "How to Get a Logo Designed". I asked that same question just to see what all was suggested. Some posts were outdated or expensive so I decided to use my tried and true method for all things art related...Fiverr.com. I thought some of you may benefit from this information.

Some of you may have heard of or currently use Fiverr, if so, please add your tips and comments below.

First, you need an account - go to Fiverr.com and click "Join", the picture of the person may be different but the information will be the same. Use an email you often check, it can be personal or the email associated with your blog.

If you already have a PayPal account, you may want to use that email to simplify the payment process.

Once logged in, you will see a screen like this (or similar):

Click on "Graphics and Design"

A drop down menu will come up, click on "Logo Design"

Next this screen will come up:

If you click on "I know what I want", this is the next screen you get:

If you choose "I need a design partner", this is the screen you get:

They are both asking you to choose a style, you can always start over so there is no wrong choice.

Underneath both of the above screens is more options...they are starting to show you designers to choose from.

Before choosing a designer, I always "refine results" to the following:

Delivery Time - I usually choose anytime but if you are in a rush, you can change this.

Budget - I enter $5.00 - $20.00. Most designers will design for that range but charge extra for source files, etc., that is why I start with lower amounts.

I just leave "seller availability" blank.

If you know what style you like already, go ahead and choose the "logo style". If not, leave it blank and you can choose later.

For "file format" you will want something you can open on your computer which is usually a JPEG or PNG. You may also want a vector file so you can manipulate later (make it bigger or smaller without changing quality) or you can ask for different sizes. The file format is up to you and I'm only listing what I have needed in the past. Make sure you check what you need (a large logo and a small one for the favicon, maybe?) and work it out with the designer ahead of time.

For "logo includes" make sure you ask for what you need. Again, source files and vector files may be important, a transparent background may also be important to you. Again, work it out with the designer ahead of time.

"Seller level", I prefer top rated but a level two would also be fine.

Choose the language you are most comfortable with. I never choose "seller lives in" but if this is your first time using Fiverr, you may be more comfortable choosing your home country.

Once you check all the boxes, the screen will refresh and all the designers that meet your criteria will pop up. You can click on the choices and usually see a portfolio of their work. They will also list what is included for the price and what is extra.

I randomly clicked on one to show you want to expect:

Pay attention to what is included and what is extra. The same designer offers three packages:
Take a look at the packages to make sure you are choosing the best one for your needs.

I find it helpful to send the designer an email before placing the order to make sure I like and feel comfortable with their communication style and response time.

Some designers require an initial email to make sure they can do what you ask, if they require this it will be stated. You can rate them after you receive your order and they want to make sure they can do what you want and get a good rating.

Once you have found a designer you are comfortable with, go ahead and place the order. After the payment has gone through there will then be a screen that appears asking for information about the order (you will get an email requesting information too).

Be as specific as you can, you will get better designs. You can list colors you want or specifically don't want. You can list fonts, what sizes you need, what it is used for...whatever you think will help them design something great.

You will receive an email when the order is complete and be able to request changes (if the gig allowed revisions) or approve and accept the order. You can also tip, which I do sometimes depending on the original price.

Helpful tips:

  • Make sure the designer allows for at least a couple of revisions
  • Have an idea of what you want, or don't want, before placing the order
  • If you have a font you love, send the font name
  • Make sure you get the sizes, file formats, and anything else you may need
  • Speak up for yourself - I specifically said not to use yellow in a design (I love yellow but didn't want it for this design) and they used yellow. The designer did not pay attention...twice! I had to speak up, louder and louder, to get what I wanted.

They are always updating the website but the steps should be similar.

I hope this helped! There is a solution to everything, we just have to find it!

Thanks,

Lisa

Lisa,

Thank you for sharing - for those who cannot afford to buy
a logo at this time they can use Canva to create one of
their own.

Susan

Oh, that is a great option too!
