Hello everyone!

Hi Linda,

I do my best to write and publish new blog posts every week.

And I update old posts only when there is significant changes or updates required for the old posts.

Here's what Digital Marketing Expert, Neil Patel says:

"Google looks for quality content, so even if your site is recently updated, Google will still prefer the high-quality content that was published years ago. By updating your old content, you can give it a second life and transform it into content that will continue to drive massive search engine traffic."

So, that is what I practice.

Great advice, Timotheus! :)
The problem with old posts is that some of them are shorter than they should be and it is a good idea to update them I think.

You're welcome, Linda. :)

The length of the post is not the issue. The quality of the content should be the concern.

Is there new information that is of value, quality and relevance to add to this old post? If there is, then it is good to update it.

When you do, you would be already adding more text and images. And that makes it a longer post, too.

True. But some of my past posts are too short because I just wanted to publish more articles than worry about the length of the posts or if there is enough information there.
I agree with you. But hearing some people are posting at least 1500 word long posts, I start to feel a little bit discourged. :(

Just to add my opinion, A post should be as long as it takes to fully address the subject. I am experimenting with micro-stories. Those are posts that tell a complete story in around 500 words.

Most people are not readers. They are impatient. Micro-stories force you to get to the point without the fluff. If a story needs to be longer to accurately provide all the information needed, I write a longer article. Then I abstract a micro-story and link the two.

I only update old posts if I can improve SEO or provide relevant new information. I discard old posts that are no longer relevant.

I'm currently updating an old site that has been arou0nd since 2017. Amazing how crumb some of my early posts were. I was trying to build traffic and not trying to ell stuff. not a good idea. I believe in the 80/20 rule. 80% information, 20@ sale in the form of product reviews and best 3 olf...

Hope this helps

Hey Linda,

Yes, I'm with you on your saying: "...somewhere in the middle and always good to improve old ones and at the same time write new posts."

Bets you'll be surprised when updating older posts but I too deem it important to add new, fresh content on a regular basis.

Hope you find this helpful.

:) Thanks!

Hi Linda,
Both are really important. You should be creating new content on a very regular basis. As often as possible, really. And it's also good to update older posts regularly as well. I try and update at least a few older posts each week.

Hi, Mary! I agree that both are important. But not always have time to do something better with old posts.
Yes, I know. I am trying for now I am testing a little bit some things and doing some keyword researches etc. In December I will start writing and publishing new content daily and, of course, improving old ones.

I maintain a writing schedule but also try to update 1 or 2 posts a week as well :-)

Nice. Thanks! :)

As Kyle and many others have stated writing 2-3 posts a week is important to let Google and the other search engines know that your website is being constant and will help you move up the ranking and authority.

Also improving old posts particularly those that may not be ranking as well always can use some tender love and boost their ranking.

So, in the end, both are important yet new posts would take the lead followed closely by updatingd old posts.
Enjoy your day Linda.

Andre

Hi! Yes, I know about 2 or 3 posts per week as a must-do, but I know some people daily publish new articles. I once tried that and was so tired of it. Now I am planning to start publishing daily, a little bit worried about how it goes.

Yeah, they both are important.

Thanks! You too, Andre! :)

Just do what you can and continue to believe in yourself Linda

I will, Andre! But sometimes I don't. How to know if it will work better this time than it worked in the past?

By believing in yourself do your meditations you know how to do that and continue to move forward.
Remember you have your fellow members here to help you along the way as well.
You overcome other hurdles and you will overcome these.

Hello everyone! How many of you are using Youtube for your online business, creating videos there, getting followers, etc. and that way promote your website?

Hi

Vlogging is a great way for organic outreach, and after uploading to YouTube you may then embed share in your blog.

You may also include affiliate links in YouTube descriptions.

if I input "YouTube Magistudios" in search top menu, you'd find plenty resources in regards.

You may also follow up on Roope's blog posts and training

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/roopekiuttu

Thank you AbieAJ! I will keep this in mind. :)

You're very welcome.

Still working my way up to that.

Do you already have the channel? I have it, but I didn't upload anything there yet. It seems that will take forever. :(

I made a channel sometime ago but haven't put anything on it yet.

Similar for now. But we need to do something abut it
I have like 270 articles that can be made in videos and posted there

270 articles? Well you have me beat. How long have you been a member of Wealthy Affiliate?

A little bit more than 270, but I should have written more. I am here for a long time. My first website was created in 2017 April. :)

Yes, YouTube is an excellent way to attract visitors and give a more visual representation of what you’re offering. I definitely recommend having your own YouTube channel.

Yeah, I know. But I didn't do that yet. Was thinking how many bloggers here are doing it.
I am planning to do it, it is more like planning than actually doing it. I tried to create a video and got stuck there.

Hi Linda. Have you had it sorted out?

Hi, Lev! Not yet. Just came back to this place. I was busy with other things. Thanks, everybody for answering my question! I will try to fix that issue. :)

This is normal.

When your screen size is below a certain width then the sidebars appear after the main content. Make your browser full-screen and don't zoom in and the "problem" will disappear.

What you see on a pc or laptop will be different from a mobile phone or tablet.

Hi, Marion! thank you for this! It was so simple and I feel so silly now. :)

We've all done it, Linda. Don't feel silly.

Hey Linda,

Hopefully SiteSupport can restore your website for you. IF SO... before making ANY changes, you should ALWAYS backup your site.

Backup plugins are as follows: If you made ANY changes inside the theme files, yes, updating your theme would remove those changes... which is why you are never recommended for editing theme files.

Instead, you should create a child theme to your chosen theme and then, inside that folder, you would keep only those files you wanted changes made on.

If you need help creating a child theme, see the first screen print below to see how to find them.

To find SEARCH... click on the magnify glass on the navigation bar (see second screen print below...)

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi, Triblu! I was thinking to ask Site support, but I was thinking that answer may be something simple.

Yes, I was thinking about creating a child theme, but somehow I didn't.
I do some kind of backup from time to time and it is usually before updating.

Thanks!

Hi, if you know when things have changed, you may submit a ticket to site support and ask them for a previous back up.

WA system update has nothing to do with our sites.

Thanks for the idea AbieAJ! The issue is solved now

Hi, are you referring to this blog? https://howtoreducestressnaturally.com/

If so, it looks like it's displaying correctly for me.

H, Mary-Elle! I see.
I was worried because I checked on another device and it didn't show the way how I wanted.
Now it is fine :)
