Niche Dilemma

I have been a member of WA since August, and I have never written a blog post here until now. Now that I am writing one I wish that it could be some thoughtful, inspiring post like many of you write daily. I so enjoy reading the encouraging and helpful posts that some of you write. But instead, I am asking for some thoughtful opinions and guidance.

My site is about makeup for women over 40. I am not near as far along with it as I would like to be. I am now having second thoughts about whether I chose the right niche. Finding low competition keywords is not exactly a piece of cake, but I suppose that is true for many niches. I have struggled to find time to work on my website, which brings me to my dilemma. I work full time, and most of my time outside of work is spent caring for feral cats. I manage colonies of feral cats in 3 different counties. I also rescue cats and dogs in need, and I am currently fostering a dog. All of this in addition to caring for my own cats and dogs. Should I be creating a site about cats instead of one about makeup?????

When I was trying to choose a niche, some of you suggested animals, but I was really interested in doing the makeup site. However, since then, I have started a non-profit group/organization ( I have a page on Facebook) to try to pull people in my area together for the purpose of raising money for TNR (trap, neuter, return) and caring for the many feral cat colonies in the community. I feel that I am started to build a reputation for myself and that I have become known among animal lovers, especially cat lovers, in the county in a relatively short amount of time.

Would this give me an edge as far as getting traffic to my site? Would those who like my cat page also come to my affiliate website about cats if I had one? These are local people where I live, of course, but traffic is traffic and many people may share my site or posts with others. But what products would I promote? Most cat rescuers and feral cat lovers that I know don't have much money to spend, as we spend it all on food and vet bills.

My makeup site just got indexed, which is encouraging to me and makes me want to stay with that site. So I struggle with indecision. I always overthink things, so maybe I should not be giving it a second thought and should be working hard on the site I already have in what little time I have to work. I do enjoy makeup very much and wear it faithfully.

Basically, I just don't want to get to August (one year from joining) and have no success because of such indecision and overthinking. Perhaps some of you can look at this from an objective point of view and offer your thoughts on what I should do at this point. Maybe you can offer some thoughts that might help me sort things out a bit. I value your opinions!

Hi Linda...
Mike's idea is great...
Another suggestion is to start the WA Affiliate BootCamp training...
I see you have completed Course 1 of either BootCamp or Cert course...
If you start the BootCamp training you will quickly get a sense of achievement....what you learn from Kyle here will set you up for success in whatever niche you decide to go with...
Let me know what you think...
All the best...
Steve

Thank you Steve. o much of business is finding a meeting ground!

Not sure how many PMs you get, but I have been inundated and pretty much the same question keeps cropping up!
Do you agree my advice is a good idea for those having an initial struggle with what to do?
I would appreciate your opinion...
Thanks...
Steve

Thanks. Still working on level 2 certification then I may start Boot Camp.

If you get stuck please let me know...
I'm sure Mike won't mind you helping out as well...
Good luck with it!
