I am busy with Christmas parties, not by invitation but have been hired to do. I will do my Christmas shopping, secretly, so my wife don't know I'm hunting for a gift.

She always tell me, "Dad, (she calls me Dad) no need to get me anything. I'll get my own present." Do I buy that? Nope! Do I wanna die! I don't fall for that. To live I ask my daughter what I can get for her Mom.

So that's what I want to share my thoughts about Christmas.

Thanks for the platform Linda! Nice to share!

Frank =)

You always bring a smile to my face Frank thanks for sharing
Linda

Thank you Linda, Merry Christmas!

Frank =)

Linda,

Bah humbug, lol. I'm not much of a Christmas day lover. Although, I do respect the people that do celebrate it for religious and traditional reasons. I appreciate the season and the meaning behind it but I do not get carried away with it.

(But) I absolutely love Christmas Eve. Probably because my dad made it so much fun. I would hang my stocking on the stair railing and leave out a glass of milk along with some cookies for Santa and in the morning the stocking would be full with all kinds of goodies, yes, I remember even getting an orange in it, and oh my goodness, the cookies and milk would be gone too. That was magical for me. To this day I still leave cookies and milk out for Santa. Yeap, I absolutely do.

So there you have it, lol, ask and you shall receive. Thanks for an amazing question, Linda. That was a lot of fun.

Merry Christmas

Becky

Even though it was a Humbug? you still had fun, that is what the Christmas Spirit does It helps us remember those that are near and dear to us. Good food good company how much better can it get.
Hugs
Linda

I spend Christmas with my family. We all come together, relax after the frenzy leading up to Christmas, eat great food, the kids unwrap their gifts in a flurry of excitement and we all quietly reflect on how lucky we are, to have what we have.
Jenny

I spend the holidays in a quiet setting with those with those I care about - biological as well as adopted/extended family. All the best, Linda.

You are right, Linda. The first of December definitely means that it is not long now until Christmas. Christmas means family time for us too.

I come from Austria and now live in England. Since Christmas Eve is the really important day in Austria, we tend to celebrate Christmas on the 24th with one part of the family and on the 25th with another part. Will no doubt write more nearer the time.

Wishing you a wonderful month of December!
~ Isabella

Thanks Isabella for sharing with us. Austria wound be a nice topic for others to hear because there are traditions that we probably have never heard of before. All though Canada is a multi international country and much of are culture is integrated into our culture.
Merry Christmas Isabella
Linda from our house to yours

Good Morning Linda,

I have fond memories of when I was small. In Holland we have
3 Christmas days/evenings. We had the following tradition.
On the 24th we would only be the 3 of us. That was the evening the Christmas tree candles were lit the first time.
On the 25th my grandparents would always come and then on the 26th some very good friends.

This year I had to order the real Bolsius candles for my tree as the stock was used up. Still waiting for the candles to arrive.
One of the Christmas days we will visit friends who came here last year.

I am looking forward to our visit to Malaga, lots of people in the center having vino and tapas and at the same time enjoying the Christmas illumination.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Christmas tree candles how interesting I have only seen them in old moves I had no idea that they are still used. Ya three things Christmas-eve, Christmas-day, and Boxing-day. I am glad you brought that up Taetshe Lighting up the streets houses stores is all part of the holiday season. It sure helps with the Christmas Spirit.
There was a wonderful tradition started in Costa Rica over and it is not very old I think they are in there 7th year know. Like the Rose Bowl parade in LasAngelis they call it Parade of lights. and it has become a delight for all the Costa Ricans.

We have a local tradition for lights., every year there are compatitions for the best light home. The public The Municipality put the public buses to work and for a very small fee you will get a tour of all the best light homes.

Thanks Taetske
Merry Christmas to you and Michael

Here you can see the candles Now it is late and I am going to bed.

Talk to you soon Linda.

Abrazo, Taetske

thanks for the birds eye view that was wonderful
much love Linda

Christmas is Family time. I live in a small Australian bush town mainly cattle and sheep.
All the young people finishing school leave if they want to get a better future for the cities.
Christmas and Easter the town triples in size as the children and grandchildren come home if only for a few days.
Others in the cities leave for the beaches. The cities become a little more peaceful.

Hi Tom. No matter were you are in the world Christmas to me means family also. I spent 31 years in Central America and after Christmas we to would head out to the Beach from the 26th to the 31st. I kind of miss that here in Canada. I don't much like the cold . I would rather site at my Bay window and watch the snow fall it has a very soothing affect. But I love the Christmas spirit The song "baby its cold out side". is more me.
So Tom a very merry Christmas to you and yours
Linda

I spent most of my Christmas at the Gold Coast beach for 50 years. 50 years ago last Thursday my wife and I married. I was a lifeguard on the beach when I met her. There was a song out at the time, "Don't speak to the lifeguard."
She did and I had to go and get a real job.
Tom.

it's kind of different isn't it when we talk of spending Christmas at the beach and most of Christmases is about Santa in a Sled snow falling all Christmas adornments have snow on then. In Costa Rica it more about nativities and the birth of Christ.

One Christmas my Mother and I did a live Nativity with the children of the town.

My daughter was three months at the time and she became Jesus I don't think the Lord minded that the Christ was a female.
Most importantly the children loved it.

We also had a Santa but not the Santa that we know. My brother was very good at pantomimes so he did a pantomime for Santa. If you can imagine Santa with a white face it was very comical. The Kids loved it.
Linda

We have a different Christmas with our own versions of carols.
Santa in a sleigh riding the surf.

That would be comical to see Santa on the surf. can you him imagine him in a desert. Surfing the duns

I will have a look for our photos and add them later. I have to help my wife now.

How many would you like?

very entertaining Tom thanks for sharing with all our WA members. I hope a lot more people will see them.

Christmas for me, remind me when I was a child, the preparation of the decoration of the Christmas tree, the light, the gifts, the family getting together, the music, magic!
Jacqueline

All that and more Jacqueline, I think all of us in some way relate to Christmas as a child. Magical
Merry Christmas Jacqueline
Linda
