WOW Impressed with Google

Somebody mentioned that the G at the end of Page Speed Insights meant the article had been indexed. So I had to go and look. (I am supposed to be doing orders, clearly not happening)

Off I went, hovered over the G and nothing about being indexed BUT up popped the words "View in Google PageSpeed Insights" So, has to be done, I clicked.,

Jumped to a page and told me a lot of numbers for that blog post. Was NOT good reading. I thought I was doing pretty well on that front but apparently not. No green, all orange and red.

Tried a few more, the same!!!

So clicking about and reading, I discover Google advises either the Lazy Load plug in or AMP plug in, to load quicker stuff first and the slower stuff next. Makes sense.

Though to be fair I could have got that wrong, I tend to speed read, Plus I can be impulsive and jump in too fast.

So without anymore to do.... I leapt.... as you do. If it feels right go for it, is my mantra. Doesn't always work out but more often than not.

I tend to be the one that shocks the salesman by trying something and immediately saying YES, I will have that. Then hold up a hand saying, I don't want to hear all the bumpf, no credit stuff, I just want to buy it now. Last things I did that with were a new 3 piece suite and a few months old car. This was included to show it doesn't just happen here, lol.

Anyway.... I had a fast read about the plug in, downloaded it, waited a couple of minutes (may have been less) went back to check the page speeds after clearing the cache. Some were better, some slightly worse but overall an improvement

But the best bit was this:

2 separate posts checked in the Google PageSpeed Insights. Woo Hooo!!!! Yay!!! Turning metaphorical cartwheels.

The one on the left isn't as good but it is green!

How cool is that? That plug in is going on all my sites immediately.

After which I WILL be working hard on orders. Siiiigh.

It's Sooo exciting. What do YOU think?

I wanted to share this news so everyone can benefit from my findings.

I need to take a look at this, thank you very much for sharing

Thank you Lisa, you are most welcome.

Nicely done, I seem to remember Kyle saying something about using the Lazy Load plugin, at some point in the SAC, must have been quite early on.
Still, that one made a difference. Anything that helps with site speed is a good thing.
I have shelved my journey down that rabbit hole and am blaming it all on Google Adsense.
It's still a win for you.

Thank you Twack, I think its a win so far.
I had tried the Lazy load but didn't really see much difference and removed it, though I had much less on my site then.
I tried the new AMP one, so will see how it goes on the first site for a bit. I am learning a little caution, probably won't last.

Well Google is a good one to blame as most things that go wrong are their fault, so it seems reasonable.

I'm not sure if my theme liked one of the AMP plugins I tried at some point, I started getting errors and some of the text starting moving around, it was one of those 'Aaargh' moments, thinking I had broken my site. Luckily once I had removed the plugin, everything went back to normal

Oh dear Twack. I am going to have to check my site then. Thank you.

It may well have just been my theme, as the plugin came well recommended. Not every plugin is the right one I guess.

Can also depend on your other plug ins too. I am careful now to check numbers before and after to stave off disaster.
Google has said one of my sites now has an 'amp' problem whatever that is. Dont think its a coincidence that its the same name as the plug in. Have removed it from there, will see if that has fixed it. Siiiiigh, nothing is ever straightforward.

True words indeed.

Very interesting to get advice from Google. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I take it that's from Google as its their page.

That is Awesome, but which plug in did you go with?

Thank you Chuck, I went with the AMP plug in. I downloaded direct from their page.

Thanks for the info

What do I think?

You asked...

It is always exciting to see motion and activity.

Keep your spirits up.

Thank you Brad.
