Will you Succeed?

This was inspired by another blog, as is often the way, about the pro's and con's of having your own business. I found myself writing a lengthy reply and figured it could become a short blog of my own.

"It can be overwhelming at first, so much to learn and do and obstacles to overcome. But there is no better feeling than earning money for yourself, for your own business."

You dream of arranging your hours to suit you ........ to have time for family, friends, hobbies etc. You probably saw yourself, getting up, doing a bit of work, then swanning off out and about to have fun.

Anything there sound familiar?

The reality?

Long hours, very long, the pay is less, if any, at first. That time off for yourself becomes a distant dream as you plod along, always something more to learn. Other commitments eat away at your time, maybe a full time or part time job, plus other responsibilities. The more you learn, the more you realise how much you don't know.

Many months or a year or more into your dream, you become aware if how hard it is alongside everything else. Doing your taxes shows you that there is more going out the coming in.

Now what do you do?

Plod on for another year hoping it will get better? Only to find there is still more going out than coming in. Less than before, the gap is closing and you wonder....... Is it worth it? Really?

This is the point, or maybe sooner that decides the future! You either give it up as being too hard, or.

OR, you grit your teeth and decide you will work longer and harder because you WILL make it!

Others are mocking your efforts, telling you it's not worth your time and effort, constantly trying to lure you away.

BUT you are building for the future. For your own future and (maybe) your family's future.

Those that are destined to become a success, however big or small, don't give up at this point. They keep going, sheer stubbornness/determination makes them go on fighting.

Then comes the day the books show you broke even.

Then .....................

you actually have to PAY

tax!!!!

The first time you will jump for joy, I did. It was amazing.

From then on you keep up the pressure and grow. Earning a living wage is a success. You are finally working for yourself!!!

You have YOUR own BUSINESS!!

I've always loved Self-Employment!! (Not crazy about Tax Time...).

It's only the first one or two that are exciting Shaunna, it loses the gloss after a few years. Good job the self employment is so attractive.

Paying taxes is great as it means you are successful
Working consistently and never giving up even when it gets tough is the key and so many people put things in the too hard basket and quit before the gold
Everyone has the opportunity but not everyone will take it all
All the best Linda
Vicki

So very true Vicki, thank you. Many give up because it takes too long or they find the continual learning too hard. The successful are those that kept going regardless.

Good afternoon, what I have found to be true is, if you really want this with all your heart mind and spirit, and if you refuse to stop no matter what, you will succeed. More taxes it's still a beautiful thing, because you have more money to do good and at the same time you're adding True Value to society, what a beautiful thing it is. May Prosperity be always with you.

I agree with that Earl, it took time but I never gave up, kept learning and plugging away at it. It's what we do and keep doing until we succeed.
Thank you, may prosperity always be with you too.

I love your Insight, and I love your attitude, May success be always with you.

Thank you very much Earl. May success always be with you too.

The more taxes I pay the better I like it as it means I am earning more.

Derek

Exactly Derek and I love that all the expenses of my business comes out first.

Have to pay the goose that lays the golden eggs. A healthy reminder and a great read, thank you Linda.

We do Twack and finally reaching the level where you have to pay, however small an amount becomes an achievement. Later years not so much.
Thank you for reading and commenting.

Very welcome.

Bring on the taxes Linda. It all takes persistence and focus. All the best
Jim

It does take much persistence, sheer stubbornness at times, dogged determination and the focus, of course. Focusing on the dreams of success.
All the best and great success to you Jim.

So very true Edward, thank you. At the beginning though it was a very steep learning curve but I got through it, as we all do.
