Social Media is GOOD!
All I keep hearing is how scary/bad/useless/time wasting and other words about social media. WHY?
So you haven't tried it?
It's NOT scary!
You write content and want visitors to read the content. Do you wait months or make a bit of effort to build a social media following and get traffic now as well as in the future with SEO?
Yes it can be a time waster but doesn't have to be.
TWITTER: The quickest and easiest to start with.
Don't go to read stuff, get there, check new followers, follow them back and do a couple of retweets each.
Next check notifications. Those that have retweeted yours do the same with theirs. I personally don't bother with likes on posts, cant see the point but you can reciprocate with that too if you want to.
Following back is something you do because you like what they tweet and retweet. If I don't like what they have in their timeline I don't follow back. It is not mandatory.
You do NOT follow people and then unfollow as soon as they follow you, it will get you a bad name and posssibly blocked by many.
Many, me included, do a check with various apps to see who unfollowed in the preceding few months. You might think you got a way with it but trust me you won't.
Don't complain about lack of traffic if you can't be bothered to make an effort with social media. A new Twitter account I started a few months ago now has over 400 followers and now I remember to go back twice each day for retweeting, mostly, it gains new followers every day. It maybe only a few some days but its growing.
My main account has between 10 and 20 new followers a day.
Every day more people are aware you are there with social media. All you are doing is encouraging visitors. People only go and look at what they are interested in.
Why pay out good money for ads if you don't have much content yet? It's a waste of money
Why not give social media a go? It's a FREE resource.

Thank you Mike.
I find it crazy that people talk about paying for ads when they haven't even tried a good resource that's free.
Hi Linda.
Absolutely.
I have been twittering away and Pinteresting away and have actually gained followers from people in the same game as me. Its a no brainer really.
Mike
Good to have followers in the same game but even better to have a good diversity of followers.
Terrific advice Linda. For us newbies just growing a website social media sounds our best best.
Thanks for sharing
Lily 😊
Thank you Lily. It's free and the more you grow the platforms, the greater the traffic possibilities.
Me too, I don't like facebook anymore either Jim. It's a shame because it used to be very good for small businesses.
I have a few automated posts going out each day and I pop in occasionally to say Hi and that's it.
I don't use anyone in particular Fleeky, mainly because I never remember which one I used last. I either put 'unfollowers app' into the search on Twitter or into google. I just use a free one.

Great post Linda, thanks.
I do get frustrated with many of the Twitter followers who follow then unfollow ☹️ It just seems like a different ethos there compared to FB. On Twitter my following goes up, goes down, though fortunately slowly in the right direction upwards, whereas on FB my pages grow, again slowly, though the followers tend to stay so it’s a more consistent climb there.

Now I have more followers, I don't follow others unless they follow me first. I keep a check to ensure that when I follow back, they don't then unfollow. If they do, they get unfollowed and no second chance.
It is a bad practice to be discouraged.
If you go on daily and retweet all those tweets you like the look of then each day you will find you have new followers.
I generally check out their timeline before following back. If I don't like the look of their tweets or retweets then I don't follow back.
Thanks Linda; good advice.
