Hi WA family,
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy.
Well here is a copy of the e-mail I got:
I wanted to follow up on my previous email ab
I've bookmarked this post as some of the comments are brilliant and have given me plenty to think about in this regard.
I've had a good look round their site and nothing struck me as odd. They are providing plenty of information with a spattering of affiliate links.
The article on insomnia had links to various official bodies, articles and reports, to back up claims made within their own article.
I'm no expert but nothing jumps out at me that might indicate something untoward.
Hi Twack, thank you for your response. Much appreciated. I looked at their site again this morning and I too did not see anything to make me suspicious.
I did write them an e-mail with a few questions. Just going to wait for a response and go from there.
All the best,
Michael
Michael,
Unless you initiated an email to this person, I would consider it a phishing email and ignore it. If you are curious I would as mentioned below to email them back off of a contact directly to that Communications director and initiate a phone call to them. If they gave you a phone number do research about the company and see if they are credible.
I am very skeptical unless a phone number properly is given and then I research even more before contact.
Let us know how it works out for you.
Best to you.
Bill
Hi Bill, thank you very much for your response. No I had never heard of this company before. Their main focus seems to be in selling internet packages, although they have about five health related articles. My website traffic is low, and I was considering using a back link to them. But I am not sure now.
Appreciate your time.
All the best,
Michael
To me it doesn't have the looks of a spam email. It's professionally written, and they've given you a lot of information that you can check out to see if they are legit.
With the research that other commenters have shown, I'd delve into it further and see if it's a good opportunity for your site. If it is, then a mutual backlink to your site could very well work out great for you.
Janelle
Don't discount this sort of email as spam straight away. Others are right to be wary of these emails, however do your due diligence on the company first. This could be a business opportunity for your website. Deleting the email without checking could be a mistake.
Looking at the company in more detail i can see the website has been registered since 2015 so not likely to be spam.
Looking at the person who signed the email "Shae Verdouw" i can see they do work for this website/company. https://www.zoominfo.com/c/decisiondataorg/454892860
The Alexa rank of the site is 182,653, thats not something to overlook.
The article they link to, is on their website and to me doesnt look anything untoward. (Search their website on google and head to their news section).
If can negotiate a deal and have your website linked on theirs as well, that not a bad back link to have.
Great advice here, I would follow this. Thanks Mark for doing this research and sharing your thought process.
Presuming Shae and the content is legit and valuable to Michael's readers...
Could there be backlinks benefits here for Michael too?
they ave a high trust rating
https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/decisiondata.org
checking their article it looks good
use site:decisiondata.org insomnia and it comes up with the article.
they have got a bit of authority -so if your site could do with a backlink then.....
do a bit more research than i did
good luck
phil
i did have a quick look at the backlinks to that site and it has good pedigree - ahrefs or moz have a free backlink checker and a lot of sites i recognise

Hi WA family,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with a plugin I just installed. Not much more of a description I can offer you. It has increased my mobile site
Interesting I am just increasing speed on my sites and wondered about AMP. ATM I use WP Optimise and it working great. Had a big clean up of obsolete files. Site speed is increasing but I think have other things affecting my site. Thanks for asking. Jen
Hi Jen, right now I am re-considering using this AMP plugin. Will re-check in the morning.
Michael
I installed AMP and recently uninstalled it. You are right it does improve mobile performance. However, it comes with a cost.
You completely lose all branding. It gives you speed by making your site generic.
Your content on AMP will lose a lot of the special design and brand recognition that you’ve worked so hard to build.
AMP also takes over the architecture and the optimized content now doesn’t technically belong to you, the original creator.
If advertising is your monetization strategy, this means there could be issues with driving advertising revenue.
You spent all that time creating new content, and yet you might not even be able to monetize it.
I agree with Martin, if your site is responsive, that is good enough and find other ways to improve speed.
Hi Stanley, thank you very much. Sure do appreciate your comments.
Always got to look at both sides of the coin.
Best wishes,
Michael
As long as your theme is responsive in design you don't need the AMP plugin.
There are a few reasons to use AMP and more reasons not to.
Cheers,
Martin
Hi Martin, this plugin did increase my mobile speeds by about 15% and I would use it but, it did bring up errors with google analytics.
Would love to know the pro and con reasons if you have time.
Appreciate your help. Thank you.
Best wishes,
Michael
Hi Michael,
I'd be happy to. I wrote an extensive post on one of my sites discussing the pros and cons of AMP and I'd be happy to send you the link if you DM me.
Cheers,
Martin.
I keep meaning to test this Plugin, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’ll move it up the list and let you know how I get on with it.
Hi Chrystopher, I would be interested to find out your conclusion on this plugin. Thank you for responding.
Best wishes,
Michael

Hi, I have been recieving several organic messages with referals to other sites and individuals. Just got back after helping out with people in need of food. Can't handle this
My spam filter would not allow something like this to get through. Akismet Alternative - Antispam Bee
This is a spam comment, I receive them every once in awhile. I would mark it as spam and not approve it.
Janelle
I can understand how hard it is to edit or change. You are very kind hearted.
Love,
