My Respects To A Prince

Hi WA family I hope everyone is doing well, staying safe and healthy.

I am quite aware that these blogs are mainly for WA business. I hope you excuse me for wanting to pay my respects to a Prince, a gentleman I have grown to admire. Maybe it is the Scottish and English blood from my grandfathers that makes me feel this sentiment.

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburg. Born 10 June 1921 – 9 April 2021

Born in Greece but his family was exiled from the country when he was 18 months old. Educated in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Served in the Royal Navy at age 18. Served with distinction in the Mediterranean and British Pacific fleets in the second world war.

He married Elizabeth on 20 November 1947. Just before the wedding, he was granted the style His Royal Highness and created Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, and Baron Greenwich by the King.

When Elizabeth became queen in 1952 he left active military service, having reached the rank of commander, and was made a British prince in 1957. Philip had four children with Elizabeth: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Goodbye to a Prince. May you Rest In Peace

To me, Prince Philip was one of the most dignified gentlemen. I have this respect for him because of his candid and honorable ways. He was a Prince but when it came to giving of himself he was a generous man. I know my mum would have wanted me to do this as she loved the royal family. This is also dedicated to her.

I thank you for allowing me to share this.

Wishing you all the very best,

Michael

I appreciated reading your heartfelt post, Michael. I think there should be space for that here. I learned a little more about Prince Phillip in your post. Thank you. The royal family of Great Britain has always held a special place in my heart too. My ancestors are mainly from Ireland, Scotland, and England. One day I hope to visit over there (I live in the USA) and feel my DNA buzz with recognition.

All the best to you,
Kristina

Thank you, Kristina. I appreciate you sharing a bit about yourself and your ancestors. One day you will get the chance to visit Ireland, Scotland, and England.

Wishing you all the very best,

Michael

Oh, Michael, Thank you!
I, too, admired Prince Phillip.
Just to be the support of Queen Elizabeth, in this respect, he was a model for all.
I was born on Queen Elizabeth's birthday, which is this Thursday, April 21st. Sadly, this will not be a "Happy" birthday for your Queen, this year.
May he Rest in Peace, knowing his "Mission" is accomplished.
Your Mom will be pleased, Michael!
Best!
Barb

Hi Barb, thank you. A huge void for the Queen after 73 years of marriage.

A loss for the world.

I do believe he did start an honorable mission and was able to accomplish his mission.

I really appreciate your words Barb.

All the very best,

Michael

Thank you, again, Michael...
The Prince has been in my prayers, and your message was the first I'd heard...I really don't watch the news.

Hi Barbara, I watched the tribute to Prince Philip through the honors bestowed to him through the ceremony of his passing. It was quite spectacular.

Michael

Recently, PBS had a series "The Queen" ?... Excellent!
They really showed a lot about the Prince, and how he "Found his purpose" within the Royal to-do's.

He has helped a lot of kids here in Canada. I think he did go above and beyond his title as a Prince.

Yes! That show was "The Crown", Michael:)

Hi Barbara,

To be honest I am a bit disappointed in WA at this time. It is just only my feeling.

I am quite aware this is not a social media site, but my gosh have we lost our humanity.

I think the connection to life and respect may have been lost. This is not the WA I joined.

I think I will be blogging about the weather and taking my dogs out for a walk.

Michael

Michael, thank you for this, he was a man that I met several times, just an allround great guy, did send the Queen a message of condolence
Stuart

Hi Stuart, my gosh you had the honor of meeting a great gentleman, a Prince.

Being in the Royal air force I am sure was a great experience.

Thank you, Stuart.

All the very best,

Michael

Michael, your respects to Prince Philip bring back many wonderful memories.

My sincere condolences.

Hi Valerie, I certainly would love to hear about those wonderful memories.

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

All the best,

Michael

He certainly was quite a Marmite character.

Hi Geoffrey, not sure what a Marmite character is. Thank you for commenting.

Best wishes,

Michael

Lol. You either like him of you don't, no inbetween.
