Whoops! I forgot.
I'm in the dog house now. Things started out as normal. We ate breakfast and took care of getting ready for another day. As, we watched the news, to see what was happening until there was a knock on the door. My daughter entered and then it happened. She had a card and handed it to my wife. It said "Happy Anniversary!". I thought, oh no! I am in trouble now. My wife grinned at me and said, "I forgot too!". I told her "Your birthday is coming up so I will buy you double boxes of candy." My wife agreed and all was good.
The blessing in all of this was that this is the first time in a long time that I made that mistake. It is our 54th anniversary. I think we are allowed a senior moment now and then. Thank goodness everything is fine in paradise.

Nothing Here For Me
I do not always get an anniversary card or even a "happy anniversary" verbally, but I don`t mind at all. There are so many good things all year round that I value.
What with when it's cold outside and I think out loud, I don`t have any coffee in the kitchen, it`s Sunday, shops are closed but I ran out of my cigs, I want this letter posted today but can`t face going out in this rain and the list goes on and on.
All these hubby will jump up and say, it`s ok, I`ll go get it. It`s ok you relax, I`ll go bring in the washing, it`s ok, I`ll cook dinner tonight, it`s ok you don`t have to take the garbage out I`ll do it etc.
To me, these are real values, so even if I never got a Christmas present, I`m fine with it.

I suggest if you are not already using a web based calendar, that you think about starting. This way it is convenient and easy to maintain a complete list of things to do, important dates and appointment scheduling all in one. I hope this suggestion prevents you forgetting about your anniversary for the future.
