Using YouTube For Traffic? Then You Must Do This.
If you're like me you use YouTube to generate free traffic to your website. And if you're not, you should be.
YouTube made a change in April of this year regarding the monetization of your videos. This short post is not about that, but it's something you need to do to use some key features of YouTube.
So as of April 6, 2017, channels that have fewer than 10,000 views cannot run ads on their videos.
And this was done because YouTube saw more and more original content being re-uploaded by others who try to earn revenue from it. I know it happened to me many times and I had to submit a copyright infringement notice to YouTube.
Now I don't monetize my YouTube videos (Ad Sense) because the amount of views you need to make any real money is ridiculous.
But you do need to enable ad sense to use the linking features available with YouTube. And I'm talking about Cards and End Screens.
These two features allow you to have clickable links within your video to your website. So if you want to have these features available to you, and you do.
You need to enable monetization on your YouTube channel. And you can do that right inside your YouTube channel.
And if you’re not sure how here’s the link to YouTube’s partner program giving the steps for enabling monetization https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/72857
Once you've enabled monetization, the linking features are now available to you. And it's those links that get people to your website.
I believe in you

Thanks Leo, it is good to have tips on how to get people to view your pages. Thanks for the info.
I uploaded a video today and noticed this information about ads. I have slightly under 10,000 views, so don't have long to go. But like you said, you don't earn much anyway. I will definitely be enabling the link feature, and it's so much more efficient than just directing someone to a "link the description" .
Thanks for sharing!
