Another One Of My Review Tactics

Like many members I do reviews of products and services. And the majority of my reviews are in the MMO space, so needless to say many of the products I review turn out to be pure crap.

Now to do an in-depth review in most cases I need to buy the product.

Now if the product offers PayPal, I do that, plus if the product is crap, I can get a refund with no problem.

However, if the product does not offer PayPal and only offers the use of a credit card. I do not use my regular credit card.

What I've done is gone to one of those check cashing places like Money Mart and gotten a free prepaid credit card and this is the credit card I will use. I put just enough on the card to cover the purchase price.

And I don't have to go to the store to load the card I can do everything online. So easy peezy!!

Now I can make the purchase and I don't have to worry if they try and charge that card with a hidden fee, or hidden membership charge - which some programs have done in the past. And if they try crap like that with this card it will declined. I’m happy and they are sad – yeah me!!

And most importantly, some unethical marketer does not have my "real" credit card on file.

I've seen people try to get refunds or payments stopped on their regular cards from some product vendors and some people have had to go so far as to cancel their credit card to stop things. And we know what a pain in the butt that would be if you had to do that.

Just wanted to share a little food for thought if you're not sure who's on the other end of that purchase.
