Another Music Legend Has Died Tom Petty
Another great musician has passed away - Tom Petty died todayOctober 2nd, 2017 - he was only 66.
Like many people I grew up listening to his music - heck I wasjust listening to his Dame The Torpedoes CD yesterday. He'll definitely be missed.

It's so sad that a music legend as Tom Petty has passed. He was truly one of the all time great and his memory will live on in the hearts of all his many fans.

Tom Petty was also one of my favorite musicians. I even play some of his songs on my guitar! "Last Dance With Mary Jane", "Like A Refugee", "Learning To Fly", "Won't Back Down", to one of his earlier hits, "Go Ahead and Give It Too Me."
He will surely be missed. Like a bottle of wine, he kept getting better with age.

Mine, too, Ken. He was pretty amazing. Clearly one of those who gave us fun, positive art to warm our world. We needed a couple more decades of Tom Petty, but I'm glad about the powerful decades he gave us.
This has been a bad year for the good guys.
My favorite song was, Refugee. I heard he was in the hospital with no brain function. Sad, he was only 66.
Just like I said the other day, famous people die in threes. I heard about Hough Hefner, then the guy who created Let's Make a Deal and now Tom Petty.
Now CBS claims they can't confirm Tom Petty's death -- evidently the LAPD reported he was taken to the hospital with cardiac arrest, then was taken off of life support. Later they backed off saying they can't confirm his death... I guess we will know more soon?

That's the new reality of news - little budget and less time for good fact checking, and general erosion of professionalism across the board. Who knew the 21st century would bring down the availability of and belief in TRUTH...
No kidding, I added an update to my original post – hopefully I can update things saying he has not passed.
Sad news. 66 is way too young.
Like you, I was listening to his stuff recently while driving and my elder son asked who it was that we were listening to. He seemed to like it, so this seems kind of strange....
