What Is Better, Sparrow Or Pigeon?

In my language we have a saying Better a sparrow in hand than a pigeon on the roof. This is one of the sayings like Money doesn't grow on trees etc. It is a killer of dreams. It tells you to go for something "secure" instead of having a vision and going for it.

I was thinking about the most successful businessmen. What it looks like when they write their success stories. When they say it took them one year to see serious money coming in, we just flash this information and only see the final result and say wow, they made so much money.

But a year is a long time when you go day by day. You have to be aware you need to keep your vision in front of your eyes and keep repeating yourself that the big guys started just like you. From scratch. And they struggled and failed on the way many times.

There is no shortcut. Or maybe there is, if you are ready to pay a lot for advertising but that still doesn't make sure people will click on your adds and buy. I believe we have to learn a lot and gain confidence first to convince people.

Have you ever thought about how confident the ones who got there are? What vibes they emit? Because they know. They know it works. They have done it.

But they had to start somehow and go step by step. Day by day. They had to believe.

If those successful people held their sparrow in hand and settled, if they didn't have their dream, they would never have achieved anything. They wouldn't be inspiring us now.

It is a constant learning process and the more knowledge you have, the more confidence you have. The more you succeed, even with small amounts in the beginning, the more you believe because now you can also experience it.

But it takes time. It is a way.

Hold the big picture in your mind and never give up on your dreams.
You deserve more than a sparrow!

Have a beautiful day on the way to your dreams!

Hi Lenka,

We say a bird in hand is better than 10 in the tree but it is used in exactly the same way you describe.

Business is about Risk if, you like you say do not like risk than you are not going anywhere if thought about properly life is a risk in general.

It is how you approach, manage and mitigate that risk that is what is important, in life the opportunities and in business the finances basically cash! lol

Manage those risks well and you will see improvement for sure!

Rami.

Thank you for your insights, Rami! Attitude is everything. It's only up to us how we decide.

Your most welcome.

The pigeon just leaves a lot of poop on your roof.
My dad would always say, when I complained about my childhood allowance not being enough, A bird in hand is worth two in a bush.

You need to work hard to reach your dream and believe in yourself and your capabilities.

Barbara

Absolutely, Barbara, hard work must pay off.
And to be honest, I don't like pigeons :) But for the sake of this post...
Blessings,
Lenka

Lenka,

I'm with you on the pigeon thing!

Barbara

Hi Sophie,
Wow, You have made my day! Great and very insightful work! Also, with cheering applause that I have received your work and accepted formally your efforts with honor and merit. As you can see, I take the time recognize and praise your hard work in my first paragraph.

This is because it is true that I am impressed and elated by another masterpiece of yours. You have turned hard and time-consuming work into the art of doing and actualizing real great work on the fly. This has been well-documented and artistically designed and inspired. Therefore, I become totally motivated and satisfied.

Thanks again Sophie, you hit another homerun!
Charles

Thank you very much for your kind words, Charles! I just wanted to motivate everyone who might feel down or not seeing results as this really is a long run.
Have a beautiful day!

Completely get what you're saying. I think it is very understandable why we (people in general) view things wanting the tangible now over the invisible future.

It's just the uncertainty of it. When there are no results... that feedback should normally be interpreted as "what I have done and am doing is not working so I must adjust what I am doing".

It's not like there aren't people out there who have wrote articles and / or made videos for 6 months, 1 year, 1.5 years and never saw any progress from it. And there are certainly cases where people finally discover the one or two things they were doing wrong... and correcting them... suddenly they started getting results and wished they had known that from the beginning.

So although I do get it... we all need to have the vision to keep us moving forward... we also need to be sure we really are doing the right things. Because it makes no sense to waste 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or more putting in work that is just wrong in some way.

Anyway great article and completely get it. Just I have been thinking a lot about this whole thing and why people quit, why some people see results in a few months and some struggle still even after 2 or more years.

Yeah, you are right, there are big differences! We have to constantly question ourselves if we are doing things the right way. That's what I'm doing. But for instance, for my site that is 3 weeks old, it is impossible to get big traffic. Especially in my niche. And even experts say that.
So I have to trust the process and keep going. Check if I do it right but still keep going. Expecting it will take months to get somewhere. But I don't mind.
I still think that even if someone wastes 2 years and finds out what mistakes there were making, it's still not a waste. Because in that 2 years someone else was doing nothing. So it still means being ahead of those who don't get out of their comfort zone.

Yeah 3 weeks is very short amount of time.

Wish you all the best of success with your new site!

Thank you very much! I will need a lot of patience before I reach hundreds of posts there!
