Sometimes procrastination may be a good thing :)

Hello everyone at WA!

I've just realized procrastionation may actually be good for something. Why / how?

Well, I was a bit stuck with posting more content on my website and consistency etc. and I was reading some posts here on WA and I just realized I can have multiple niches or subjects on my website. The thing is I am interested in many things and I was struggling to put it all together somehow.

So what am I interested in?

  • personal development
  • language learning
  • nutrition and health
  • wealth creation

and that's just the major things :)

Apart from that, I love dogs and cats, cosmetics and everything that makes us look good.

When I put something on my FB or instagram, it is always something different so there's no consistency and I felt like it was not good.

And I found a solution. I will add some pages with various headings to my website and sort my posts according to it.

It might look like something very obvious but to me, it was not.

So just to say, sometimes you read things and ponder upon your business and it's actually bringing you some wonderful insight.

Do you have the same experience?

Hi Lenka. It's definitely not a good idea to place more then one niche per website. However, as a premium member you have access to many sites. Why not get one up and going and then move on to the next. Jim

Hello Jim, I reconsidered the original idea already after seeing so many saying it was not a good idea. Just for explanation: I thought I would do reviews of various things and sort them into categories but now I understand they still should be related to one niche only.
Thank you for taking time to comment!

Great idea. You always need a little time to look at the bigger picture.

Lily 😊

Thanks Lily, that's true :) But the thing is everyone here says it's not a good idea to have different things on one site so I am at the beginning again.lol

The focus helps and yes, sometimes taking a bit more time helps brings clarity to our thoughts. I find doing does help me learn more from my actions as well. I can correct it or make adjustments later. Looks like you can build multiple niche sites, one at a time.

Thanks Stanley, yes multiple niche sites will be probably be the solution I need.

Seems to be unanimous. One site per niche is what I have always heard and learned as well.

Yes, I know...maybe I got confused because some people have different tabs on their website but it still refers to one niche. It's just hard for me to stick to just one subject.

Me too! Kyle mentioned buckets on your web content. You can put articles for different niches in different buckets. Then when you're ready, you can put the proper article with the right site.

Hope this helps

Christine

Oh, amazing! I've never realized there were buckets there (and I haven't got to that part of training yet) but now I can see them. Thanks for sharing this idea, Christine.
All the best!

There's oh so much to learn. I'm still learning. Only 1 month in. I'm sure there are folks who can go into much further detail than I can.

Have fun!

Christine

I'm only 3 weeks in. Definitely lots to learn.
So I wish us both the best in this wonderful community!

Hi - that approach is not recommended. You need to be seen as an authority on your subject. Plus, you will confuse your visitors.

For example, if I find your website looking for an article on nutrition, but your other posts were on dogs and wealth, I would soon leave. Then you have lost a potential customer.

Thanks Diane, I know. It's just so damn hard for me to decide for one niche only :)

Hello, if I were you I'd start another site for each major niche. I have two websites because the subjects are so different. You can have quite a few, so think about what goes together and put those on one site. Best wishes!

Thank you, I'm actually considering this option as well :)

As a chronic procrastinator I´m happy you found something positive in procrastination.

However, my advice is NOT to start a website with "little bit of everything". You should have a niche site on a specific niche. Websites with "little bit of everything" simply won't be successful.

I know the struggle of finding a perfect niche, because I also have many interests. I started a poker website first, but writing about poker became a struggle, even though I love playing poker.

Now I have a unicorn website, and I enjoy writing about unicorns much more.

Even if you´re interested in something, it doesn't necessarily mean you enjoy writing about it. You need to think about which one of your many interest is such that you will be able to write about it for months and years to come.

Writing about your niche should be fun and easy. And it should be specific enough. Even your interests are too broad for a niche, like personal development, nutrition and health, dogs. You should narrow them down.

For example, instead of personal development site, make a site on meditation, mindfulness etc. Narrow down health into a niche like healthy breakfast, yoga for health... Instead of a general dog site, make a site on a single dog breed, dog collars, training puppies...

I hope you get the idea. Kyle and all experienced members will tell you the same thing for sure: DON'T make your website on a too broad topic, instead narrow down your niche.

Thank you for taking the time to share and to advice me on this issue. I know it should be a particular niche, very precise, but at the moment I feel like the only thing I can write in depth is language learning and I think it's not such an interesting subject but I'm still considering all possibilities :)

You're welcome. It´s not always easy to decide which way to go with niches, but I would advice you to pick up the niche you like writing about the most. You don't even need to be an expert on it, because you'll learn more and more while you do research for your posts.

I can relate in that reading some posts and training helps me in my niche building. I was struggling with a new post and then I read Kyle's training on Diamond Traffic Program. A review and some quality information that helped me get going again. Keep at it! That's what I'm doing!
Barb

Yep, the Diamond Traffic Program is an amazing source of information. Thanks for your sharing!

dont do it.I was like you. I built a site that had pages for different topics. google ignored it. I couldnt buy customers. Google gets confused easily. Pick one topic. focus on it for 3 months. Get it established, then build the next site. it cost me 1 yr. of time. just focus and nail it down 1 at a time!

I know what you mean, it's just so hard to pick one :) But I'm still considering everything I read here and all advice of you experienced members...thanks for that!

Just have to experiment and see what works for you.
Joe
