Overcoming Writer's Block

You know, when I write a WA post, I always feel a nudge before writing as an idea poppes out and I start writing.

Today it's different. I didn't have any particular idea when I started writing this post but I had a feeling I should. So I'm writing and I'm curious (probably more than you) where this leads me to.

The title you see above is the last thing added because this post is writing itself somehow. It's something new for me to write this way, not knowing what it's all gonna be about. Quite funny. It might be a total nonsense. Let's see.

Now the moment comes I have to think what to talk (write) about. How I have overcome my writer's block? Or shall I inform you that I'm going for a painting course tomorrow? Shall I write about how I use affirmations every day? Or how grateful I feel every single day?

All these things might or might not be interesting for you. Now let's toss an imaginary coin and choose which topic is best for today.

Writer's block. OK then.

If you read my posts, you might remember how I wrote about how important it is to choose the people you spend a lot of time with. If you haven't read it, it is here https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/lenkasophie/blog/be-careful-who-you-spend-your-time-with If you spend long time with someone negative, someone into conspiracy theories etc., it does affect your energy.

It took me a long time not only to discover the culprit that was blocking me but until yesterday I was unable to publish a new article on my website, had about 800 words waiting for 2 weeks (!) to be finished. The last 2 days I finally added about 150 words a day, and published.

I've read dozens of posts about writer's block since I joined WA but nothing really helped me. It was a feeling like being completely stuck.

When I think about what helped me most, apart from getting positive energy from the nature every day, it was a sentence written by Lisa (LMH1968) in one of her posts. Something as simple as her saying she managed to write another 100 words on a particular day.

You know, I've always written my articles in one go. I did research for one day or two and then the next day I wrote the article. I might have let it "ferment" for another day, then comb it, add pictures and post.

I never thought (stupid me) that writing 100 or 200 words a day could add up until you have the final article ready. So thank you Lisa, a big aha-moment for me.

I'll be repeating myself but this platform really is a never ending source of inspiration. You never know what you bump into. What might help you today, or later on.

We all go through the same struggles. Just never give up.

Even the smallest steps count.

Love

You know Lenka, when it comes to writes block, I just walk away. So much has been written on this, and so many, like Lisa, have provided so many good ideas, thoughts and feelings on the matter. You and operate in much the same way. Always good to hear from you my friend.

Greg

Ps.
my practice is to never title a post until I'm finished writing.

Greg, you made me laugh. I could walk away too, any time, I love walks anyway so I can imagine spending all day in the nature instead of in front of the computer.
Nice to hear from you too.

Lenka,
You are far from alone. We all have different ways of dealing with writer's block. I've found it helpful to read posts by other bloggers in my niche and often this will trigger an idea to write about. If this fails, there's always other things to be doing like searching for great keywords and images to use later.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you also for sharing your experience, Erica.

This article was really helpful. I struggle with the writing part so small steps is a wonderful idea! Thank you for my "aha" moment!

I'm glad you found it helpful Brianna. That's always intention of my posts, hoping it would help someone who's experiencing similar situations.

That is interesting - breaking the articles up into 100 or 200 words a day. This makes sense - that's how people write books and novels, by a particular word count every day. Clever idea.

Thanks Lenka
Isaiah 😊

It is indeed. It really does make sense as it takes away the burden of having too many words to write.
Thanks for your comment Isaiah, always appreciated.

Thanks for sharing Lenka.

Thanks for stopping by Eleazar.
