If You Want to Have a Better Life, Be Grateful

Much was said about gratitude. I think I have written a post about it too but I just feel I have to share my thoughts and, most of all, my experience with you on that.

If you want to have a better life, to be happier, have more money or whatever you wish, be deeply and genuinely grateful for all you have. It is not just empty words. It is about the feelings.

I've read and heard so much about gratitude that I decided to give it a try because I'm always ready to try something and get better at whatever I do.

I started to begin my days with thinking about what all I was grateful for. Counting my blessings, you might say. At first, it was just creating the habit. You can easily forget about it. Normally when you wake up you just think about what you have to do etc. You can add the extra few minutes to express gratitude but first you have to remember!

So I did that for a while to create a habit. And somehow it just became part of myself. Now I don't do it every morning but you know what? I became part of me somehow. I feel grateful many times out of the blue, just looking around me.

And do you know what's best about it? I get more and more reasons to be grateful for. More money coming from unexpected sources. Overpayment on the yearly gas bill AND electricity bill. Each of them about $100. More translations, very well-paid ones. It makes me feel more and more rich.

I had a conversation with my boyfriend recently about how negative some people are, how they complain all time. Then more and more things happen to them they can complain about. They can never get out of the vicious circle.

My boyfriend asked me what I would recommend such people to reverse that.

My answer was, I would tell them they shall start being grateful for what they have. Each one of those people could find many things to be grateful for.

People just can't see it. So focused on negative things, on always seeing the bad and neglecting the good. We are trained to do that from the very young age observing others to do so.

But we have a chance to change that.

Focus on gratitude!

We are so blessed to live in this time when everything is possible.

I bet you can find at least five things to be grateful for. Ten is even better.

Gratitude is so powerful. Those who are grateful get more and more reasons to be grateful for. Honestly.

I'm also grateful for having found some amazing friends here, forever grateful. Without you I wouldn't be writing now. Thanks a million.

Love

Lenka

Thank you Lenka for sharing your thoughts on this subject. It is easy for me to be grateful because of my faith in Jesus Christ. Others learn how to be grateful through whatever they believe in. I believe those that whine and complain have no source of faith whatsoever. Just my opinion.

Take care
Charlotte

Beautiful Lenka, for sharing your practice, experience and tips on being grateful. I totally agree with you and have been trying to be more aware of things I am grateful for. However, I will try out your tips to take a few minutes in the morning to build it in as a routine, great idea.
Best wishes Jude

Thank you for your nice words, Jude. I've just found your comment (and some others' ones), for some reason I don't get notified of all comments and it has been this way for a long time, I got used to it but sometimes I'm unhappy when I see I haven't replied to comments. I look like I have no manners then.
Wish you all the best!

Hi, Lenka,

We usually take things for granted and don't take the time to thank life or God for all we have. Gratitude is powerful and opens a whole new world of possibilities for us.
This reminds me of the water glass. Is it half-full or half-empty? It depends on our perspective.
At the same time, there is a fine line between being negative and being realistic. What is the difference between the two? It's hard to tell.

Thanks for sharing and motivating us. Have an excellent day.

So true, Enrique, we should never take anything for granted. In can change in an instant so we should be happy to be so blessed.
Thank you for your insights!

Hi Lenka,

Very timely post this one from you. And very thoughtful in giving some insights on how to get into this needed habit.

Also there's a biblical principle about it. So no wonder we need this to apply it in our personal lives. Thank you for bring it on.

Have a pleasant day.

Felix.

So true, Felix, it is written in the Bible and it's an underlying principle of our lives. Thank you for mentioning that.
Have a beautiful day!

Hi, LenkaSophie. Glad to see you writing about gratefulness. I am actually practising it now. I can tell that being grateful can discover more and more good things around me even the things I have owned. Just that I didn't realise but took it as granted. Negativity exits but we don't have to amplify it. You are right. We should be grateful to have so many great things happened around us.

So true, we should never take anything for granted. We are so blessed and have so many things to be grateful for.
Thank you!
