Comments again. Is this crazy?

I was writing an article yesterday and couldn't get it finished somehow so I left it as it was with about 800 words and decided to do site comments again.

Don't ask me how many comments I've given, I was like a machine! :) I always said to myself this is the last one and then another website appeared in the box so I went on. And I really enjoyed that, to my surprise.

So far, all of them are approved and two are waiting for approval. But I want to say something else.

Some of the articles were really interesting and I always tried to think of some genuine question a potential customer or visitor would ask. It's actually not difficult when I comment on product reviews to ask for advice.

But I was even interested what the answers would be! So today I went back to each of the sites as you can see a list of them on your Site Comments page.I decided it would be nice to reply to the replies and say thank you. If the comments were organic i.e. someone from the internet would find your website and ask you a question waiting for the answer, they might also thank you for your advice.

I also think that it's nice when you go to your website and find some new comment you didn't expect. It doesn't happen often if your website is new and doesn't appear on page 1 in google.

So it's a nice surprise for the website owner.

It takes some extra time though to go get back to the websites and look for your comment with the reply.

What do you think, am I crazy to do this?

Hi Lenka. I think your approach is quite normal for the reasons you have mentioned above. When one makes a comment, he/she is not just interested in - but is quite eager to know - what others have to say to that effect, hence a return to the site(s) to find out. Quite normal.

Keep up the good work.

I always enjoy getting comments - especially when somebody comes back a second time and makes a second comment.

Re-commenting is a great way to show you are not just making a comment to get the credit, but you are actually interested in what was said.

Thanks for your kindness.

Dave.

Hello Lenka,

Thank you for your interesting and informative blog post. I think it's really great what you're doing, it's always good to take the initiative and do something different and out of the norm. I also think long term Google will see your extra efforts.

Wishing you all the best.

Roy

Thank you Roy, if even Google appreciated that, I'd be happy.
All the best to you as well!

Hi Lenka:
Of course not -no. You are not crazy for to do such. Actually, you very wise in doing such. Doing such sets you apart from those who do not do such. Really, it's a big deal. And it way helps those within those pages.
Just picture it this way. The internet is keeping track of you & each of your "participations". And isn't this what we are being trained to do here within WA. I mean both Carson & Kyle along with Jay have it nailed with this internet universe / empire. What mentors we have!!!
Yet Lenka, there is one thing that can grow into the negative. And that is your personal world. Myself, I am trying to implement some strict discipline concerning time. If I am not able to write during a specific time of the day, then I will focus on other things & write @ a different time the following days. For me, first thing in the morning works best. Yet when someone enters in via a door knock or telephone call or . . ., I find it difficult to re-focus quickly so to resume. I mean really, we are pulling stuff from out of no where & putting it down onto paper. Well, not paper now-a-days, yet I think you get the notion.
.
So Lenka, what I say to you is you've got it good. You'll modify what you need to modify. No, you are not wrong in doing what you've been doing. It will come back to you. It just takes so much TIME for to get it all done. Yet I guess that's life. So who wants to "finish" life anyhow?
So,
Rock On !

You couldn't be more right, Jim! I'm well aware how time-consuming it is and I do blame myself for spending too much time with things that do not bring any real results i.e. writing on my website etc.
I know I have to make some changes in my daily schedule, otherwise I won't succeed. I have about 13 articles on my websites since September and it's by far not as much as it should be but it's much easier for me to write WA posts, comment or read success stories than writing. You are right, it requires discipline.
However, I can't push myself too hard because I also have to enjoy what I'm doing. I think finding the right balance is actually the hardest thing in life.
Thank you for your insights, I appreciate that!

Hi again Lenka:
Just had a thought while reading your response. And thank you for that.
Lenka, I agree with you in what you tell me in your response. And yes, your website's articles & content are very important & demands focus. And here is my thought.
.
Why not have a clip board with a pad of paper clipped on along with a pen. Just set it aside, yet keep it close / near by. If you go somewhere, take it with you. Just turn the writing pad upside down & clip it back onto the clip board. This way it stays private.
.
Don't try & write. When an idea comes to mind, briefly write it down. Say like keeping a topic list for future articles to flow by.
Maybe even draw out a flow chart that you can design the paragraphs within a topic by. Simply make notes & later within the day or week, go over it all & build on it. Sort of like creating blue prints for a writer, you know?
.
I could really eat up your comment space here. Think maybe I should do a training article pertaining to such?
.
I hope you get the idea I'm driving @ here. I know you'll put something together so to fit you own life-style.
Go get em, girl.

Jim, would you believe I've had a clip board on my table, actually sitting on my printer at the moment? And it did work perfectly when I had ideas on the paper clipped there. I had tasks there what I should do as well, like creating pins for pinterest etc.

But for some reason, I stopped doing it, got distracted with something else or maybe I was tired as well.
Thank you so much for reminding me how important this is.

You should do a training article about that, great idea! I think many people have writer's block or struggle with content any how.

Thanks again, have a beautiful day!

And Lenka, I think that you could write us up some intel with pinterest & how we can implement it with our WA businesses.
Talk to us as children because personally, I know not very much about pinterest. Make a post just for me & another for those with higher knowledge of pinterest. Part one, part two, part three?

I would love to do that, Jim, but I'm still trying to figure out how to use pinterest for the benefit of my website. For now I just create pins but I have no clicks on them at all. Still don't know how to use keywords there the right way.

Pinterest vs Instagram
One of these two allow for greater word descriptive content.
.
I'd think it would be a "trend" research.
Then load up on some unique trend photos that lead to a post of yours here within WA concerning Pinterest & such.
Just an idea.
Best to you, Lenka.

Hi Lenka,

Yes I have tried to do this too, I genuinely want answers to some of the questions I ask in site comments.
I don't always have time to go back to all comments I make but if I have asked a question then I do go back to find the answer.
On occasion my questions have not been answered which is a shame because visitors do look at comments and if they see unanswered questions they may not visit again. So yes, I go back to questions and I always answer questions on my own sites.

Great Post and food for more thought and effort to return to more of the sites I have commented on.

Happy Sunday
Louise

I've noticed that also, Louise! I go back to every site I commented on after a while and look whether there is an answer or reply to my comment. If there is nothing, I always think it's a shame because for organic visitors it looks like the author doesn't bother.

It also happened to me that the author didn't agree with my point of view. In such case, I don't add another comment. I don't argue with people over their opinions, it's wasting energy to me :) Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion.

Have a nice day!
Lenka
