Hi Lee Ann - lots of great and interesting comments here :-)

My take is this:
You are paying for these comments (by leaving 2 good comments in exchange for one) so you have a right to get something close to what you need.

A comment should add value to the topic and give you enough substance so you can construct a reasonable reply.

So if it doesn't do that, hit the Disapprove button.

BUT

If you ask for 1 comment, Site Comments often gives you 2, or 3. Let's say you asked for 1. If you disapprove it you will get another and another until you do approve 1.

However, I'm not sure what happens if you have 2 or 3 and disapprove 1. You may or may not get another. I know for certain in one case I asked for 1, got 3, disapproved 1 but didn't get another.

So, the question now becomes, do you want to risk throwing away a comment?

If the answer is No, you can always edit it, and I have edited several comments, some almost rewritten, in order to get another comment.

As some people have pointed out, some commenters skim through the process for the $ and I hate letting them get away with it but that decision is up to you.

Hope that helped a bit :-)
Ian

Hi Lee,

It looks like you have some great answers already and I am inclined to agree 100%!

All the best,

Diane

Thank you Diane. I didn't really think the question would this great of a response : )

Thank you for trying to help though. I do appreciate it.

Very subjectively I would disapprove. 2 short and similar comments, no, sorry. This is the disadvantage of the paid comment trend. People jump on the comment just for the money. This is not a progress in my point of view. But...

Thank you very much Anne. Although I wanted to believe that this member was actually trying, I just don't see it.

THe more and more I look at the comments, the more I think it is just a quick buck for him.

I do appreciate your input my friend.

It's up to you. If you disapprove them, you can enter why at the time of disapproval. If they are relevant and work with your post, I'd approve them, if not, reject and give the reason.

Thank you very much Scott.
I don't find either of them to be relevant per say.

i didn't know that when you disapprove a comment you were able to tell them why.

THat is great news. If this member is genuine and not just trying to earn money, I don't want to discourage him, but yet let him know that his comments need some work.

Lee Ann

If the comment is applicable to the post, I would approve it. If not, I wouldn't.

In the real world, I read spammy looking comments on people's super successful and popular post and YouTube videos all of the time. So, I would not worry about the issue too much.

The only time I edit my comments is if they added some site feedback. I'll typically take that out and leave the rest of the comment.

I'll make a mental note of the site feedback but I don't want it with my comments.

Thank you very much. is my way of thinking as well. The comments are very generic and only focus on scams in general and not the information in my article.
I do edit comments to fix typos or grammar, most of the time.
Thank you for your input. I greatly appreciate it.

Hello Lee,
Unfortunately some comments seem to come from Assembly Line Factory Ltd.
More of the same, where "same" stands for short, repetitive, redundant, offering little to no value.
Personally, I would approve one because it is very likely that a reader leaves a short, complimentary comment and disapprove the other (twice the same stuff is far from being credible). I would then send him a pm to explain him that you expect more value from fellow members's paid comments.

Hello there : )
Nice to see you helping me with this.

I tried to find the member so that I could see his point of view in case he was just getting started on leaving comments. I can't find him anywhere by his WordPress name.

The comments basically say the same things, they are just worded differently. Neither of them are really based on the information in my articles other than the fact that the articles are both scams.

I don't have to disapprove without letting him know why. I think he is trying to do right, but may need further knowledge on leaving comments.

I don't like decisions like this ; (
I am used to the comments that I receive being focused on the actual content.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me with this.

Sorry Lee, I struggled to post my reply, my internet is throwing tantrums today. Because of that, I have just realized that I failed to include this part:
"You can find him in 'my notifications', just click on the bell at the top right corner."

OMG!! I feel a little silly now. I knew that, just not at that moment. I feel ashamed. Definitely did not even think about that until you mentioned it.

Woohoo. Thank you my friend. You are awesome.

Comments don't need to be extremely different (shouldn't be copied or anything, though). But comments are about engaging with your audience, and I personally believe that you can't control (and shouldn't control) what your audience says...within reason. Don't approve spam, don't approve anything inappropriate, vulgar, etc. You can edit to fix that sort of stuff or spelling errors, but I wouldn't change the whole comment around to be different. It's probably unlikely that either person saw the other person's comment to know that something like that had already been said.

Instead, take your time to respond and maybe talk about different things in each reply to make them different.

Thank you Holly.
The comments in question were left by the same person on 2 different post.

I did fix the grammar issues. But neither comment really relate to my post other than the fact that both articles are about scams.

You have given great advice. I know there are a couple of members that I have left comments on several of their post. Having the same individual commenting, isn't an issue for me.

To me, that just makes it look like they really enjoy my content.
I will see if I can smooth it out with my responses. This will definitely test my ability : )

Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

That's great! Yeah, it's unfortunate that some people don't truly try to leave an engaging comment. If it was the same comment by the same person on separate articles, I would probably approve one and disapprove the other and let them know that they already left that comment elsewhere.

Lee,
Disapprove if you wish a form comes up for you to
explain why you are taking the stand of giving
them the disapproval so they are notified of your
reason and decision.
These people need to realize comments go out where
other people on the internet and Google sees them.
Do the due diligence of actually reading the material
and commenting properly or do not leave comments!

Many people are doing this now to make money from the
comment section and I do not approve any comments
that are not completely relevant to my post.
Susie

You are awesome Susie. I didn't realise that you were able to explain to them why you disapproved a comment.

I agree with you about the exchange of comments for money. There always has to be someone to try to beat the system.

I am not so sure that this member is trying to do that, although I could be wrong.

Thank you for assisting me with this. I really do appreciate it : )

which one is the one people are looking for when they are closer to buying?
is it when they are looking for what such and such is about or is such and such a scam?
to me the latter is when they are almost ready to push the button - hence the reason for less traffic.
they are looking for justification that they will be buying a good program.
just my thoughts.
good luck with your choice

Phil,
That is the thing. When I type it into Google neither of the 2 come up.

It launched in October 2018.
The results are making money in the service and along those lines.

I actually received a phone call is how I found out about this program.

Thank you for responding
Lee Ann

if it is that new -then it hasn't made it onto google's radar yet - so anything is fair game.
you are getting in there at the start - can't remember whether it was littlemama or jerry chuang - but they kept their eyes on the news and blogged about very new releases and have done very well.
so it does depend on the intent o the article - info or sales- as to how you compose it and how you write it.

Hi Lee, Thanks for comment, I have to agree with Glen, aweber is the big Daddy of them all, It was a good friend who explained that he had changed from aweber to Traffic Wave, but when buildabiz upgraded he now only uses the one at buildabiz, its NOT FREE but its cheaper and does the same job as Traffic Wave. Hope this helps.

mailchimp is free until you have 2,000 subscribers. $19./mo after that. Lots of nice forms and templates as well as many video tutorials on how to use it. Fran

Awesome. Thank you Fran.
That is good to know.

This is very useful information that will assist me as well as others.
I really appreciate it.

You are welcome!

Hi Lee,

Marketing automation is actually my niche so this is my specialty. You’d struggle to find something better than GetResponse at $15/month. You can set up fully functional automations, tagging, forms, not just an email autoresponder.

They have a free trial, however I think I can arrange an extended trial period for you if you like.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Shane

Thank you Shane.
This is great news and thank you.

I will be looking on your profile as well to check out your website and follow you.

If I am going to really do this, your advice will come in handy for myself as well as others.

I truly appreciate it : )

Great to know Shane. May get back to you after the new year on the extended trial offer. But like you said, $15/mth is a super value.

No worries at all Lee Ann. If you have any specific questions or things you’re looking to do, just let me know and I’ll either write a guide/blog or film some training

Certainly Mark, just let me know.

Thank you very much.
I tried to look for your website on your profile but wasn't able to find it.

I know not everyone will list their website. However I am going to follow you as I definitely believe you have useful knowledge to share.

Lee Ann

It's definitely on there. I think you may need to follow me first for it to be visible.

Maybe try checking again now that you've followed me?

I'll PM you just in case.

Cheers,

Shane

Awesome. I didn't think of that.

Sometimes I don't make it down to where "follow Shane on" appears as it takes so long to get there depending on the amount of comments on your profile.

My computer will sometimes run real slow as I get further down the page.

I will try again : )
Thank you again.

Lee Ann

No worries Lee Ann. I sent you a private message just in case as well.

I also followed you and will wait for the training.

Thank you for this question because I also wondered the answer.

THank you Sheryl.
I think we can use the knowledge of our great community and the responders that they use in order to check them out and find the best one.

Mailchimp, no doubts...

Thanks Fleeky.
But why do you like MailChimp?
What are the features that you really like?

Easy and effective

Thank you Fleeky.

Tested a lot

Takes a wHile before you reach 2000 subscribers..l

I know it will take me awhile lol.
I don't even get that in traffic yet : (

Yep

Hence my suggestion...

Are they better than Constant Contact?

For me yep

For any niche other than MMO I like SendPulse, and it's free for up to 2500 subscribers.

For MMO, I like GetResponse, 30 day free trial, then $15 a month up to 2500 subscribers.

Thank you Janelle. How user friendly is GetResponse and what are the features that you like the best?

Thank you for sharing your insight. It will be very useful : )
Wishing you the best in al you do
Lee Ann

From my research and asking others more knowledgeable than myself, Get Response is who I will choose when I need an AutoResponder.

I found it pretty user friendly once I worked with it a little bit. I use the basic features, subscription form and auto responders and will be putting out my first newsletter this month.

I chose GetResponse since SendPulse won't approve email campaigns in the affiliate marketing niche, and I've heard MailChimp and some others are the same way. I've been happy with it!

Thank you Janelle. I knew you would give great advice and insights.

THe information that you have provided will definitely help others who might be asking the same question that I have asked.

That is information that we truly need to know when searching for a good autoresponder. You are awesome.

I really appreciate you.
Lee Ann

Was comparing MailChimp and ConstantContact. Will double check on MailChimp, thanks. Kinda like the conversations with CC so far.

I use Aweber, and have so for years - they have a free 30 day trial and then they have a graduated fee. You can see that here. https://www.aweber.com/pricing.htm

They have all the features I need, way to many to list. Plus they have live chat support - that comes in super handy

Thank you very much Leo.
How complex is it to use?

I really appreciate your help.
It means a lot to me.

Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Just my 2d's worth... I used Aweber back in the day and thought it was expensive and complex then. No idea how it comapres now so very interested in the replies you get here, but from preference I'm hoping for something easier and cheaper :-)
Ian

Persoanlly I don't find it complex at all. Like anything new it will take you time to get used to things - they also have training videos, a knowlege base and as I mentioned live chat.

That's fine. It was only my opinion :-)
Ian

No worries I was replying to Lee's question

Yep, well maybe it's better now than it was then :-) And I've no idea what the competition is like so it may well turn out to be the best on offer :-)
Ian

It's all relative really - as long as the service has the features you want and allows you to market the way you want, then that's the service for you. Makes no difference who you use.

Thank you Leo.
You have been a great help.
I really do appreciate it.

I am prepared to learn and had expected it.
You are appreciated : )

Lee Ann

You're welcome

Thank you Ian.
I do appreciate your thoughts on this.
It will be helpful for myself and others to make a decision : )

I am sure they have had many changes since then.

Here's Jerry Huang's take on Autoresponders. Iy's about 1/3rd way down the page:
https://smartaffiliatesuccess.com/essential-tools-for-affiliate-marketing/
Ian

Thank you Ian.
I should have checked his profile. He is very knowledgeable and successful.

I really do appreciate it. I am going to have a look now : )
Lee Ann

I love Aweber! Also they have an awesome YouTube channel for tutorials!

Great! :-)

Do please let us know what you go for and why?

I agree with Mary below in terms of the best and cheapest. I did have TrafficWave for a while, because its one of two autoresponders which are specifically geared towards affiliate marketing and has some good benefits, one of which is the affiliate programme : )

That said, I stopped using it, and went to MailChimp. It is free up to 2,000 Subscribers, it is slightly more complex to learn, BUT it has a ton more features and benefits which are compatible with WordPress

So, long story short, for those reasons combined with what Mary and Nessa have said, thats why I chose that

Thank you Dave. Just the type of answer I am looking for.
This will help immensely.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me with this.
Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Your welcome, it really all depends on what you are looking to achieve I guess, but glad it helped

The words "Best" and "Cheapest" won't necessarily apply to the same Autoresponder, in my opinion.

I use Get Response and have done so for years. Aweber is also excellent, but these clearly have a fee and are not necessarily the cheapest.

MailChimp I believe allows you to start for free, and I believe that some here are using MailChimp successfully.

Just remember....that the whole point of using an Autoresponder is to communicate with your list. Using the "cheapest" autoresponder solution is fine, however, if your messages don't actually get to your list, well...then you've just wasted your time.

Thank you very much Mary.
I do agree about the cheapest.

My thoughts were to weigh the pros, cons, features and prices to come up with the winner : )

I value your help with this.
Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Nice answer and good reasons

I use MailChimp. It is free until you reach 2,000 subscribers on your email list. I am not sure what the price is after so I would check prior to using it.

Thank you Nessa.
What do you like about MailChimp? What is your favorite feature?

I really appreciate your insight. It wii really me and hopefully others as well : )

Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Well, I used both Aweber and MailChimp, but MailChimp is by far my favorite. My favorite part about it is the design features for the newsletters that I send to my subscribers. It is much easier to design and use than Aweber was.

Good answer Nessa, well done

Thank you very much.
I really appreciate your detailed insight.

That tells me a lot and will be very useful.
I really do appreciate it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Shane

Thank you Shane.
This is great news and thank you.

I will be looking on your profile as well to check out your website and follow you.

If I am going to really do this, your advice will come in handy for myself as well as others.

I truly appreciate it : )
Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Also if it is one that we will pay for, then we can make sure that we sign up through a member so they receive the credit : )

Thank you for your interest. I hope this helps you my friend.

Mailchimp, no doubts...

Thanks Fleeky.
But why do you like MailChimp?
What are the features that you really like?

Lee Ann

Because it gives you time to learn.... at no cost
Easy and effective

Before jumping into big business....

Thank you Fleeky.
I really appreciate it : )

Yes...

We ourselves,as internet users, have come along way as well.

Hi Lee Ann
We have a very high percentage when it comes to getting our ads approved on FB. When we have had one disapproved we have nearly always been able to make the necessary changes to get it through.
If you would like us to take a look at your ad copy and image and give you some feedback we would be more than happy to do so.

Let us know.

Jon and Debbie

Are your ads that are getting approved WA ads? I know the offer you made was not for me but I would really appreciate if you could look at mine. Please let me know.

Shwana

Hi Shawna
We have run many ads all in the make money online niche some for WA but not obvious that it was for WA.
We would be happy to take a look for you to see if we can give you any pointers
Hope that helps
Jon and Debbie

I think FB are a pain to deal with in getting ads approved. Last week they disabled my entire ad account because I had the words ‘personality type’ in my post. My website is about chronic fatigue syndrome. My post was written to help people understand their personality type can contribute to their illness. This is not the first ad they’ve disapproved an ad but it’s the first time they’ve disabled my ad account. I contacted them and they sorted it out pretty quickly. But they didn’t answer my question on if it was ok to boost that particular ad after my explanation. Being too afraid their bots would disable my account again I haven’t bothered.
Their ‘explanation’ of what is considered unacceptable is too vague to understand too. I find boosting posts very hit & miss.

I know. It is amazing at how their thought process works.
Yet FaceBook is filled with lies and misleading information and fakeness.

I reckon that is everywhere though. I will never use FaceBook for ads again.
It isn't worth it. It is a shame. I hope your luck gets better with them : )

Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Yes I’m also considering whether it’s worth the time, effort and money to pay for FB ads. I get a much better response on Pinterest and it only costs me the price of a Tailwind subscription to schedule posts.

I need to learn more about Pinterest. It seems like it should be simple, but I just haven't caught on to it.
At least how to use it to gain traffic.

Maybe that is what I will do. Stay away from FB all together and focus on Pinterest. : )

Thank again.
I will check out the Tailwind subscription once I am more comfortable with knowing how to properly use Pinterest.

Good luck with Social Media ads : )

Lee Ann

For Pinterest training start with these:

Facebook has been severely criticized for offers to make money online, proof that most of them are garbage. Though we know that WA is solid, FB doesn't and won't risk the chance of running something which could get them in trouble. Perhaps instead of focusing on making money online or working from home, you could focus on learn to build a website or learn about affiliate marketing.

Thank you Jeannine. I tried that on my last try. This is when I decided to give up.
I do know of the garbage on FaceBook. I just came across a few when I was searching for a job that I could do from home until my website starts bringing in a steady income.

I truly appreciate your thoughts and trying to help.
It really means a lot to me.

Wishing you the best in all you do

I also got some issues getting it approved, though I wrote the FB admin.

Thank you Israel for sharing. I hope that writing the admin helps you.
I myself have decided it isn't worth it anymore.

Alright, friend! Wish you much success in your online endeavors!

Israel Olatunji

I used to be able to get my ads approved an then all of a sudden it stopped. They gave me the reason that it was an MLM ad and I had to detail the offer so as to not promise things for free. The "make money online" is what the issue was. I have tried to appeal but my appeals from June are still open and unresolved.

I feel your pain : )
I am not even going to try with them anymore. They approve ads and then decide not to at their leisure. I won't pay for any ads with them anymore.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

I hear you. Dealing with them is frustrating and their customer service is awful.
Best wishes!

I ran a Black Friday promo ad last year. Had no problems with ad approval. I linked to BF post on my website. And I didn’t make any promises.

Thank you Kim.
Were you able to get approved for your ad this year?

Lee Ann

I chose not to run ads this year. I personally have not had any success with them.

Oh ok. I have just started trying to use them and I am not having much luck either.

I can't say I blame you.

Thank you for sharing : )

You need to have a website that has the affiliate link in an article or blog post and then you can do an ad on facebook using your website link to the post you have on your website. They won't accept just straight out affiliate links for an ad. Hope this helps. If you need more clarification let me know.

Thank you Cory, I truly appreciate it.
Lee Ann

You are very welcome.

Hi Lee Ann- FB prefers random junk and I dislike FB a lot because of all the crap they allow so not sure how you will overcome this
Vicki

Thank you Vicki.
I would love having a different social media platform similar but better than FB.

I don't like them either. They are horrible. I just don't understand how scammers get by with everything on there, yet those who try to be legit, can't do anything.

I am moving on to try Bing now : )

Thank you my friend.
Lee Ann

yes I hear you there my friend
If I was extremely brainy I could create one lol but in my lifetime this is not going to happen
Perhaps Carson and Kyle and the tech team could do this- Now there's a thought for today :)))

Vicki

I bet they could do it. Maybe we should put a little bug in their ear?
Maybe they are already thinking about it. I mean they are experts here and care about their members.
It would be awesome of they did.

Lee Ann

Yes bugs needed in ears lol
You do it :) Go write to them :)
Im off fishing- be back later
Vicki

I had the same problem and I gave up because anything I told them was not following their advertising policy. My problem was that the picture I used was offensive and I told them that I took the picture from their image stock but still they did not accepted my ad.

Omg. They are ridiculous. I have started using FB less and less.
Thank you for sharing with me.

Where did you end up placing your add?

Facebook does not allow affiliate links is the problem. You CAN post affiliate links on Twitter and Bing.

This is the first time I have had this issue.
I am now trying Bing and it isn't letting me sign in.

Maybe it just isn't meant for me to get Black Friday referrals.

Thank you responding.
I really appreciate it.

I actually just learned about Web talk today when commenting on someone's post about it.

It looks like you have to be invited to join the site. How can I get an invite? Sounds interesting.

I've recently heard of Webtalk, but didn't know they had an affiliate program.

Good question.

See it as facebook or google...
Everybody talks about it

There is a difference, when you talk about Facebook or Google, you're not convincing people to join them so that you can make money. So how you talk about Webtalk on the WA platform can be considered spamming.

Then it is spam

Webtalk is different than them though. As I stated above, they have an affiliate program, and this could be seen as spam.

Then it is spam

It is similar to Linkedin but will share its profits with members, not like Facebook and twitter etc.
I have joined a week ago and now have 350 LinkedIn followers joined me. Anything they buy through Webtalk I will have a commission for life.
They are using the best of all social media ways in setting it up as it is still not quite ready to get going.
They probably have a million followers already after a few weeks.

You also have to be aware of how you write about it. If you start making claims about how much money can be earned and your post is basically trying to get everyone to be your referral, it will be considered spam.

There are members whose posting rights have been suspended for doing this even without putting their link in the post.
