Why Is It Good To Ask Questions

Wealthy Affiliate has the most advanced training. It's step by step set up helps so many of us learn at a much better pace.

Having access to the best training though, doesn't mean that we won't have questions. Why is it good to ask questions?

Getting The Right Answer

Here in W A there are a number of places to get the right answers when we need them. Many of us will use the comment section under each lesson etc.

There might be a different variation of answers depending on how the questions was phrased, but normally the answers are right, it may just not be the right one for how the question was asked.

Kyle and Carson do their best to help us as much as they can. I have seen Kyle answer comments on threads and also in live chat.

What Is The Right Question

There is no wrong or stupid question. If you don't ask the question, then you don't get the answer. There are WRONG answers.

There was a recent post that prompted this post. A newbie asked a question that was taken the wrong way.

This blog quickly became the top blog of the day. I read the post a couple of times as I couldn't see what was so wrong with the question that was asked.

That isn't the main reason I wanted to write about questions though. The reason I wanted to write this was because of the responses that top ranked members were giving.

When beginners start out here, they are not fully convinced that this is real or that it is legit. I know that is how I felt when I first joined.

My point is, not all members will just jump right in to the training. They have questions that they would like to get answers to first.

******* The comments on that post are not typical behavior or responses from Wealthy Affiliate members of any rank

Handle With Care

The community here has a reputation of being one that loves to help others and is very caring.

While we see the higher ranked as the ones to turn to, this isn't always the case.

The responses on that post really upset me. I can assure you that Kyle and Carson would not like to see what I saw.

We are encouraged to ask questions, we are NOT encouraged to lash out at those who do ask. That type of behavior is frowned upon.

New members look to us for guidance and reassurance, and I see more of those type of responses than I do even with the ones in the post I am referring to.

One of the members went so far as to say it was a "slap in the face' and one stated "if it was their referral, they would ignore it".

These are not the typical behavior of the members in this community, and I apologize to the poor new member who ask a question and was treated HORRIBLE for it.

To all members:

When new members ask you about Wealthy Affiliate, Kyle or anything, handle them with care. They are not trying to disrespect the integrity of WA of the owners.

They are merely looking for your outlook, or your input. If you are to busy or for some strange reason, their question does not sit well with you, you still need to watch what you say to them.

They deserve the same respect they showed by choosing you to answer their question. Those of higher rank, I think some may want to reflect on how you might treat new members as well.

Remember, new members follow you, they read what you post about as well as what you comment on other post.

Moral Of The Story.

If you have a question, ask it. If you receive a question, answer it. Treat others the way you wanted to be treated.

You are a part of this awesome community. It is awesome because of the members that care and want to help others.

If you can' say something nice don't say it at all. It is the reputation of Wealthy Affiliate that you are hurting with the way you treat others.

New members:

If you have questions, no matter if you think it is stupid or not, ASK it. Very seldom do you NOT get a great answer.

An answer from the heart of another member is the typical response. If you aren't happy with the first answer, reach out to other members.

We are here to help you and each other. Never give up and never give in.

Wishing you the best in all you do

Lee Ann

Loving this platform :)))

I agree Vicki.
Wealthy Affiliate has been the best platform I have ever come across and has so much to offer.

Thank you for sticking up for the new member and for your help in the community.

Hi Lee Ann
and you too my friend
you are a wonderful kind and giving person here in WA and I love connecting with true people
Thank you
Vicki

SO are YOU!!!

You BOTH are : )

We three be good peeps!

Love it ; )

Better to research then ask!

Very true, but as a new member, we sometimes have questions that the research doesn't answer or we may not yet know how to research it when first starting out.

Always a pleasure to hear your thoughts : )

Great points Lee Ann. I think, because this is such a diverse population form of diverse learners from different cultures, learning styles and experiences the tone of a post can come across more harsh to others. The actual spirit behind the response of answering the question is meant to really bring assistance. Just a thought.

You such a great way with words Judson and you are right.
I myself have taken questions the wrong way or differently, even with the training.

Thank you for your thoughts my friend.
I really do appreciate it.

Good job.

Hi Lee Ann, I also read the post and it left me flabbergasted. Not only did I think that it was utterly unnecessary but the shock of reading some of the responses left me shaking my head in despair.

It saddened me to think that someone would put themselves in the position of knowing that Kyle has probably read the post himself and has graciously elected to abstain from making any comment. He does actually see the blogroll and with a title identifying him as the principal character you can be sure he saw it.

This whole charade was then followed by another post about WA not being a scam in which the "victim" was described by implication by those commenting as just another miscreant looking for a get-rich-scheme. What rubbish!

The poor guy who posed the question was scouting out the field checking for potential landmines. Maybe he was a bit too direct but for a seasoned member to berate the guy publicly - nameless or not - is a disgrace and a very poor display of WA etiquette.

Now I feel ashamed that I even took the time to read the 2 posts. Oh woe is me!

Thanks for defending the defenseless (in this instance).

Brian

I am with you 100% Brian. I have so much shame for what was said, especially by the higher rank.

We know that WA strives on helping others and compassion.

I could have extended this post beyond belief on what I saw and how it made me feel.

That isn't the purpose. My main goal is the message to the new members. They need to know it is ok to ask questions whatever they may be, and those that answer those questions need to think hard before they answer.

You are a great member my friend and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us.

I hope you don't think my post was against the new member. I actually stuck up for him. I was mistaken at first about the blog by Donny, but when I saw how hurtful it was I boycotted it by deleting ALL my responses. Don't worry, the new member will be fine. Some of us reached out to him privately and he was very grateful.
He is now a member of my network.
Virginia

Hi Virginia, I didn't think the post was targeting the member as someone who was just after a quick buck and asking offensive questions. It was the comments that your post received from members that made me feel for the guy.

You actually came to his defense which as you mention, he was very grateful for. Good on you for reaching out to him. That was very kind of you and others who did likewise.

Donny certainly stirred up a hornet's nest which I see has been expunged and the post has been removed.

Keep well.

Brian

Yes, I am glad it has been dealt with. Negativity breeds negativity. Fortunately, there are many bright stars up here who shine brightly and positivity breeds positivity. So, upwards and onwards! That negative post is gone and it is time to get back to work!
Virginia

VERY WELL SAID, Lee!! Thank you for this post!

Thank you for being there to help defend and stand up for that poor member.

I truly appreciate you.
Lee Ann

And you as well

Lee Ann,
Great post. Questions help an individual learn. And with open threads here at WA, others can see and help with answers.
Walking the Path of Peace,
Sanders

Nice way of saying it Sanders.
Thank you very much

Awesome post! I totally agree!

Thank you Janis for being on of the great members to speak up : )
That is what WA is about and what the new members need to see.

I truly appreciate you my friend.

Thank you so much for that! I really appreciate your kind word's! I believe in always being positive, and like my mom always told me, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all"!
I truly believe in WA and its members, and I'm glad to see you and others speaking out as well!
Thanks again!

Wishing you all the best!

I was told the same bt my mom and I tell my children the same thing.

As for you, it was my pleasure. You deserve a big part on the back. : )

Thank you so much! :)
