I Wonder If All This Has Happened Before
I have been a member for almost 6 months. There have been many changes since my joining. Of course most of these changes were for the better.
Lately I have noticed some strange things happening here and I wonder if all this has happened before?
Due to the fact that first it was the release of the new user-friendly platform (which I absolutely love) and then the frightening GDPR.
These changes came rather quickly within the time frame of maybe a month between the two. This alone would be a lot for a system to handle.
Something Weird Going On
I have noticed some weird things going on here. I am not sure it is all, to be due to human error.
In the beginning I had issues with my notifications. I would click on them which to me to the comment, but when I would go back into my notifications, the same one would still be there.
Luckily, another member had written about how to get them to go away if they were still showing up once you had taken action with them. You just simply arrow back.
That worked, which was awesome because at that time I had over 25 of them. It was driving me nuts.
Well now I am having the same thing happening again. This time nothing is working, even when I do the arrow back like I had previously done. It is driving me crazy.
I am still a part of threads that I don't want to be a part of and even when I check the box and click remove me from discussion, it doesn't work.
I am the type of person that when I see that bell light up with a number, I have to check it. It just aggravates me that there are all these notifications hanging out because I can't get rid of them.
Not Getting Notified
Now that I rambled on about not being able to click my notifications away. I also have not been getting notifications from comment threads or replies to my comments.
It is a hit-and-miss game. I know it is also happening to others as well. We had hoped that once the new platform went live it would stop happening. It didn't.
My emails are the same way. I get an email on something that happened yesterday. What the heck?
I have satellite internet (yes I hate it) and there is a delay, but not a 24-hour delay. It is the only GOOD (crappy) internet we can get where I live that isn't almost dial up.
I have also seen that others aren't getting emails at all. I recon I should count my blessings that I am receiving them even if they are a day late.
Do You Have Weird Things Happening
I have seen issues with images and a few other issues that I can't really remember right now. If you are having issues like mine or something totally different, please let us know.
Do you have a solution to these issues? Have the issues been resolved that you have had? If so, how were they resolved.
I have not contacted support as I honestly don't contact them unless I just can't get it resolved.
Depending on what you have to say, that might just be what I have to do in order to get these taken care of.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this as well as your advice or solutions to my very aggravating yet minor issues.

Lee Ann, some of the other lovely members here have already given you good advice, which I’ll reiterate: don’t sweat the small stuff.
It’s absolutely normal for a website servicing this many members, and this with range of capabilities, to constantly be tweaking improvements and updating their systems. This is how you know you’re getting your money’s worth. These guys never rest.
The GDPR topic shouldn’t frighten you, either. Not scary at all. Here in Australia we’ve had super strict privacy laws since the late 80s, so it’s not a new concept for us. Most Australian businesses were already there, or almost there.
Back to the small stuff.
I can see, in your sensitivity to notification behaviour, that you’ve allowed those notifications to dictate the tempo of your life or mood, a little more than they ought to. This happens to many people on social media platforms; you’re not alone!
But it’s not good for us to get sucked into constantly checking notifications and ranks, to the exclusion of any good work or study we may be doing to support ourselves. It makes no sense to let it wind us up.
I enjoy the time I get on site, but I’m not worried about notifications and ranks in the slightest. My days are long and busy, and those things are pretty low down on my list of priorities. Small stuff I have no power over. And none make any difference to my mega-list of chores! Argh. The list, omg.

But everything you said is true.
I do check my notifications especially when I am needing a response to something, or like right now I am in the midst of joining an Accountability group and the details are being shared on the SWAG thread.
But I do get your point and I shouldn't make excuses.
It is definitely something I will work on.
It's kind of like when my husband has a drink with ice in it. He constantly eats the ice and the crunching drives me absolutely crazy. lol

I had to switch off some of my notifications quite awhile ago because I couldn't keep up with them all. We live in rural Illinois and have satellite internet, so it can be spotty at times and then download 50 emails!
I've had to force myself to focus on working on my site and then only look through my notifications when I'm done with my tasks. I love interacting with the WA community, but it has to take a backseat to my business when I only have time for one of them!

At least I know I am not alone with not having a choice when it comes to internet. and having to deal with satellite.
I am going to have to do the same as you. I just have a hard time coming up with what to write about.
Once I get to where I am able to produce more content, I will definitely be focusing on my site. That is and will always be my number one priority.
My brain is like blocked and confused and isn't allowing me to come up with ideas.
Yet I can create blogs for my W A profile. I don't get it lol

Yes, I do miss some replies, I get notified but nothing is there, also comments I have placed are mia, we are on a digital platform, there can be bugs, also, people use often gsm, when they use an emoticon here the comment disapears

I also had issues when trying to reply to someone. It won't let me and it puts that I am replying to myself.
I am not going to worry anymore. What you say makes perfect sense with it being an online platform, there will be kinks.

Hi Lee Ann, my advice here is "Don't sweat the small stuff“. Perhaps it's best to switch off some notifications so you aren't annoyed by the red number next to the bell? (Click on the" Change Options" drop-down menu in My Notifications).
I switched off all my notifications for about a year to focus on building my websites. I only received emails when people I followed posted a new blog on WA. Now that I'm an Ambassador, I have a few notifications back on so I can keep on top of things. Well, at least I try, but my focus is still very much on my 3 Sites.
Be careful to not let responding to comments on WA distract you from the real work of building your online empire. The WA community is wonderful so it can become an addiction really easily.

That is some great advice, however I think I am already an addict.
I can't help but want to help others.
I know how frustrated I was in the beginning, even though I caused most of it for myself due to not being tach savvy. I just want to help others to avoid the aggravation.
However, once I can get myself to the point of being able to come up with writing ideas more frequently, I will definitely be following your awesome advice.
I know my site won't be successful unless I put the time and CONTENT into it to make it successful.
I really appreciate this great advice and hopefully I will be taking action on it sooner rather than later : )

I have some problems like my Home Page missing from my website and site map verification problems and many others but they do not hold me back I just pressed on and slowly try to find out how to solve my problems
I give you credit that is for sure.
Not to change the subject but depending on what type of issue you are having with your sitemap you might need to contact support.
I had an issue when I tried to set up Bing and it would just not work. They had to issue me a new one.
