How I Took It

Once again I have taken some training in the SWAG challenge the wrong way. I have mentioned that I am a slow learner a few times.

How I took it was the wrong way. In our task we were to create a segmented "pitch" page. I couldn't understand why, since we had already posted reviews about Wealthy Affiliate.

I actually have more than one. I have written about the community, Jaaxy and SiteRubix as well.

What Is Wrong With Me

Since It takes me awhile to actually learn something, I don't always have TIME to go over a lesson multiple times in order to understand it.

In the Super Wealthy Affilate Challenge group, we have a month to complete the task that we are given.

Sounds easy enough, right? Not for me. Kyle changed it up this month. This meant that I am in uncharted territory.

I love the challenge and the opportunity to learn more. Since we had new types of task for this month, I really struggled with them.

Positive buttons, negative buttons as well as the 'pitch" page. I wasn't the only one who struggled with them, but it doesn't make me feel better about it.

I would think that a month to get these done, should be plenty of time, but it really wasn't. I just need to be able to wrap my head around these new concepts.

So What Is A Pitch Page

After reading through the training several times and asking other members about a pitch page, I THOUGHT I finally knew what it was.

"Pitching" was convincing someone. Right or wrong? I mean when you go to buy a knew car the sales person gives you his/her "sales pitch" right?

They tell you about all the GREAT features of that automobile. How many miles per gallon it gets, how well it rides etc.

These are all the things that they think will 'Sell" you that automobile. So to me I was confused because isn't that what a review does as well?

No, not really. BUT, a review does tell you everything about the product, which is what I thought a pitch page was supposed to do.

So what is a pitch page? I still don't fully understand it, but here is my take on it now. When promoting Wealthy Affiliate you can really have several pitch pages.

Being that there are top-notch tools, training, support, hosting, security and Let's not forget about the absolute best community ever.

So a pitch page can be about WordPress, SiteRubix, Jaaxy etc. What I don't understand is how to send readers to those pages in order to make them a "pitch" page.

What I Don't Get

When we are promoting Wealthy Affiliate this means that we write reviews about other programs or platforms out there, correct?

I have actually started thinking about doing comparisons instead, but am still researching that thought.

I don't understand. In my research am I to find what hosting platform they use, what keyword research tool they use etc. and then somewhere in my review send the reader to my pitch page telling them of the tool we use?

If this is what I am to do, then I believe I now understand. If it isn't, then can someone please explain it. I have had a few awesome members who have taken a shot at explaining it, yet here I am.

It is that learning issue. I can't stand it sometimes. This seems like it should be so simple, and it probably is to most of you.

I created a 3000 word post about Wealthy Affiliate how I see it. It was basically a review, but this was when I THOUGHT I was creating a pitch page.

I have all but given up on building a pitch page before our next month of task come out Friday.

I appreciate any and all of your thoughts, suggestions, comments and advice. I look forward to hearing them all.

Wishing you the best in all you do

Lee Ann

Lee Ann not being so far advanced just totally confused.

Very true my friend.
Thank you very much : )
Lee Ann

You are most welcome.

Lee Ann you can take a look at two excellent pitch pages at:
Jerry Huang's site, smart affiliate success and also at Eddy Saloman's site, work at home no scams just to get an idea.

The way I understand it is, it should be like an event flyer. One page, colorful, short and sweet.

WA is the greatest affiliate marketing platform that comes with free hosting, free WordPress site builder, free SSL certificate for all web sites, greatest free keyword tool, in depth training and free starter membership to get you started!

Thank you my friend. This is very useful and I will check them out.
I know they both definitely know what they are doing and how to do it.
I think I am starting to understand what it is, just not how to do it. Yet, anyway.
I thought it was to be about only one "great item" and that was throwing me off as well.
I really appreciate your help
I am headed to check things out now. Thank you again : )

Thank you Lee Ann. You are a treasured friend.

They are WOW. Awesome.
I just don't know which page is the "pitch page". I didn't see any that were short and they were all SWEET.
Is it possibly the first page that I see when I went to their site? The hello I'm.....?
I am sorry to bother you again.
Lee Ann

Yes I think the landing page and pitch page are pretty much the same. If you have ever used the Elementor plugin (the free one) they have some pretty cool pre-made sales/pitch/landing pages where you just choose where to put a block or cicle or cube and fill it in with content. you can place your images wherever you want as well.

hey! As much as you help everyone, I only hope that I can help in some small way!

Awesome. Thank you Fran.
This will be vey useful.
I truly appreciate it.

Hi Lee, I'm nowhere near where you are in the training but I have to say that I admire you laying all your questions out there like that. That's the only way we learn. At times I've thought I musta asked the dumbest questions this community has ever seen, until I realized that if I have a question about it, you can bet that someone else does too. Great blog!

Thank you Sue.
When I first started I would ask a question that would start with, "this may sound dumb, but...." and I would get an answer that usually started with "there is no DUMB question".

The only question that is dumb, is the one we didn't ask : )

This pitch page has me so flustered that it has consumed me, BUT I have no problem with admitting that I don't understand.

If I don't understand then I won't be able to move on to become successful.

I came to Wealthy Affiliate completely ignorant. Meaning I knew absolutely nothing about any of this.

I have come a very long way since then, yet I still have a long way to go.

WA is the reason for that and I love it here. Especially the awesome members, Like yourself.

I love to help others, I speak my mind when I feel it is appropriate and have no problem asking for help.

I am not an average Jane by any means, but then who is : ) Kyle even wrote a post about being average.

Anyway, sorry for the length of this. I just wanted you to know that you are right.

No matter how silly our question may seem there is always someone else with the same question.

One last note....
being that we are all from different parts of the world and different backgrounds, we learn differently as well.

We may take parts of the training different than someone else. If we couldn't ask questions and get answers, then their wouldn't be as many success stories for WA as there are.

Right back atcha Lee Ann and I'm confident that you'll have it all figured out soon. God Bless!

Hi Lee, hmm ..I normally associate pitch page or pitching an idea as a one page or very quick summary of what you are selling, it should be quick and list the main points of the product.it is something that will show a client what you are selling without going into details....hope this helps...I am certain you will get it Lee..

Thank you Gus, I knew you would be there to help : )
So it would be a brief summary of WA?

Thank you Gus

sorry Lee I was away..it is morning here in Sydney, .lol...yes it is like you are trying to sell something to a customer so you pitch a sales line for say 5 mins tops...I will be here now for the rest of the day time here in Sydney 2pm.

Lee Ann, I'm a lot like you, so you're not alone on this Pitch Page.

I haven't done anything on that yet and so I'm not familiar with it. I must admit though, I am now confused by it too. After reading what you wrote here, I looked it up and this is what I found...

https://www.prontomarketing.com/blog/what-is-a-pitch-page-and-what-is-it-good-for/

I don't know if this will help you. Pls, let me know your thoughts after you read this.

Regards,
Monica

Thank you Monica. You are such a sweet lady.
What I get out of that is that a home page would be about WA as a whole.
The pitch page is more about one service/product.
Which is sort of what Kyle had written as examples.

So I assume tis means we choose one thing about WA and "pitch" it?

How do we do this if we are promoting WA? My reviews aren't about other keyword research tools and my audience are parents who can't work outside their home.

That is what confuses me.

I am so sorry if I have confused you as well. That was definitely not my intention.

I would never want to make someone as confused with this as I am right now.

What was your take on the article that you shared with me?

Lee Ann

Hey Lee Ann

Ok, so after reading the link I sent you, this is what I see the Pitch Page to be:

Think of this being on your display window for your brick and mortar business. In other words, the content is brief, without the navigation stuff showing because that is distracting to the reader and could possibly get the reader to go elsewhere.

Picture yourself when creating the content, you are outside and you are at the first window of this business and you read it.... Ask yourself if this brief content is enticing enough to make you say to yourself, 'yes this is exactly what I want' before you get to the next window.

It is not a review. It's more like looking at someone face to face and you sell your solution to this individual. (Like a car salesperson, who sales you on everything you are looking for in a vehicle). I think of this as a hard-sell.

Ok. I get part of this.

The content is to be short, but, is it about more than one important part about WA or can it still be about WA as a whole?

As a whole it might be hard to keep it short. I get really excited when I write about WA.

I noticed in the link you shared it said it could be a story. Can I do that as a pitch page?

A brief story of me since finding WA?

I think I am just going to skip the pitch page for now.
I don't want to have you tied up : )

No worries...unless you're getting tired and want a brain break .

You can have the Pitch Page as a story but you want to keep it short. Just put the most important pros in to get the reader saying 'yes, I want that' to each pro you talk about.

Like what newlive is saying.

Ok. So a brief summary of WA iit is then.
I hope lol

Thank you and Gus very much. I REALLY appreciate your time and your help. You were awesome : )

You're very welcome.

I think too that if you want peace of mind, perhaps ask Kyle too and give him our thoughts on this. I feel confident this is what Pitch Page is... but I would not feel good to see you waste your time doing it if I was wrong.

I wonder if Marion Black or JerryHuang can further clarify.

Monica you are a love.
I hate that my brain is refusing to grasp the explanations that You as well as the other members have given me.

Kyle has actually commented about it on the SWAG thread.
I have a comment on it and hopefully he will see it.

Now you get back to the things you need to, and know that you are greatly appreciated my friend.

Lee Ann

Ok Lee Ann,

Thank you! You're AWESOME!!

Have a great day and I hope you hear back from Kyle.

Monica
