I wanted to take a minute to welcome new members. It is a very exciting and scary time upon first joining.

We were all a new member at Wealthy Affiliate at one point. Many of us had the same emotions as well.

Who wouldn't be excited about building your own online business right? During all the excitement and nervousness, we may miss something.

Here are a few things that may help you along your journey. I wish I had done things a little differently when I first started. This will be a 2 part post.

Part one is as follows:

New Member Advice

Commit to the training. When you begin the training, you really need a quiet environment with little to no distraction.

Why? Because many of us have never done anything like this before. The training may take you a little bit to understand.

If you have distractions, you aren't able to commit, nor are you able to concentrate on what you are being taught.

Kyle does an amazing job of teaching. The videos definitely allow us to get a better understanding of how to do it.

You need to commit a few hours to the training especially in the beginning. If you are having to stop and start, you may miss an important step or have trouble remembering what you had learned before you stopped.

If you are not able to concentrate while you are learning, chances are, it isn't going to stick with you.

Take Notes In Order. Once we get started on the training, we may tend to be in a rush. This could be due to many reasons.

Being excited to get our business going or just because we really want to make money. It doesn't matter what the reason is, we need to make sure we know what we are doing and why.

Taking notes will save you time in the future. You will find yourself having to go back to a certain part of the training because you don't remember exactly how you did certain things.

Taking notes will mean you may can just look at the note and say, "oh that's right, now I remember".

Having them in order will help to save you time, when you do need to refer back to them.

Taking notes will mean you will always have them to refer to in the future. Yes, as a premium member you can go through the training as many times it takes.

I find it easier to just refer to the notes that I take, because they are in order. I would have to remember exactly where in the lesson to look for the answer I am looking for, and then read or listen to that lesson again.

Take Legible Notes. When you are taking notes, you DO NOT have to write them in a fast and sloppy manner. I did exactly that when I first started and I found that they made no sense.

I was so excited and ready to get my website built that I didn't think about what I would do if I needed to refer back to my notes.

My notes looked like chicken scratch and they were all over the place. I had 3 different notebooks with notes in them and none of them were in order or were legible.

There is no need to be in that big of a hurry. You can pause the video in order to write down what you need to. Kyle also has written training and you can write it down as well.

You don't have to write every single word, but write it so that you will understand how to do it when you need to refer back to it.

I will leave the rest for the next post. I don't want to bore you with having a long post. Hopefully this will help those of you that are just joining or have recently joined.

As always, If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to share them. I love hearing what you think.

Wishing you the best in all you do

Lee Ann

Yes I need to do the same as the memory is not great and as I'm not that far through the training yet now is a good time to start.
Continued success to you,
Dominick.

Ahh, yes now would be a good time Dominick. It will be a good habit to get into, especially since you are not that far into the training yet.

Something else that might help you as well.
I created training on bookmarking post or training that other members have created.

Here is the link in case you weren't aware that you could do this.
That way if you come across a post or training that you want to refer back to, you will be able to bookmark it for future reference. It has helped me many times : )

Great advice, wish I wrote more legible notes because now I’m wasting time trying to figure them out!

Thank you for sharing Joan.
I don't know why we feel the need to hurry.

For me I am sure it was the excitement and maybe a little bit of being impatient : )

Well said Lee Ann. I did not take note and for some topics I wish I had. Cheers

I am with you Glenys.
It cost us valuable time, yet we don't think about when we are first starting out.

LeeAnn great post! Everything you have stated here is right on point. Notes do us absolutely no good if not taken in a legible way and we can always go back through or pause the lessons.

OMG. I love your user name : )
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read and commenting.
I truly appreciate it.

I wish I had realized I was causing more harm in the beginning. I know I write at the same speed that my thoughts are going and I can tell by the way it looks when I go back to review : )

Great advice LeeAnn! I wished I had taken notes. Guess what I am doing now? Going back to many lessons and reviewing them, and taking notes this time around!

Awww...you’re very kind.
Have a great day!

Committing hours for work for the business is really a factor in success.

Absolutely Jimmy.
If we can't commit, we can't be successful.

I truly appreciate you taking the time to read and for sharing your thoughts with us.

And that is what I lack here because aside from the length of time I use for my site content, I am in an area that doesn't have enough network signal. It's on and off and I cannot maximize the amount I am loading for the pocket Wifi.

That is very aggravating, I know.
Where we live the internet service should be free. I am having to pay 2 different carriers.

I use satellite for here and the other is what makes our cell phones useable while at home.

The satellite is definitely better, except for when you live stream.
I definitely feel your pain when I am on the go and trying to work on my site or help here in WA.

The signals are very poor, if there is one at all.
All we can do is, do the best we can with what we have.

Lee Ann

Although the best we can at the back of technological inaccessibility is not enough. Our business may grow faster if we all the conveniences of technology.

Great post Lee Ann. So true you nailed it commitment.

Thank you David.
Pretty much everything in life takes commitment, without it we fave constant failure.

Hope all is good with you my friend.
