A Day In The Life Of A Mom

I have found myself feeling some guilt lately. Since joining Wealthy Affiliate, I feel I put more time into it than I do with being a mother.

A day in the life of a mom, dad, grand parent or guardian, will mean that we are at some point going to face a little guilt when we work from home online.

This little girl you see in the picture was only 2. She is now 10. Isn't she beautiful? I took that picture at my older daughters cheer practice almost 8 years again. Wow how time flies.

Online Or Offline

When we have little ones to raise, it really doesn't matter if we work online at home or offline with a J O B.

Most of us feel some guilt for many reasons. It is part of parenting. Today was one of those days for me.

Until we moved here I worked outside our home at a job I loved. Even then I had 3 girls to raise and bills to pay.

Most of us know how hard it is to make it on one paycheck these days. It didn't stop the guilt though.

My little ones were getting older and I felt that I was missing out on it. Guess what though, it is the same with working from home.

It may even be worse when working from home. Like right now, school is out which means my 2 girls are home all day and night for most of the time.

Working from home means I get to see when they are bored. It has rained almost every day until recently, so there wasn't too much we could do.

I had just taken the weekend off as we had girl scout activities to prepare for.

This is the same daughter in the previous picture. She drew that picture, colored it and decorated it all by herself. It was for our Independence Day parade.

I Have To Work

My girls have been really understanding about the time I put into my website. I knew it would be a little more trying at times since they are on break.

But today, it really got to me a little. I have raised 5 that are already out on their own and 3 of them have their own families.

I know how fast they grow up. Once these last 2 are grown, I will be an empty nester. THAT made me really sad.

I have been raising children for 33 years. The thought of not having a child at home is very scary to me.

I have to work though. I can't work outside the home which is what brought me to Wealthy Affiliate.

If I don't work on my website then it will not be successful. They had rather me work online from home than to work outside of our home.

The girls know that I am here and if they have a sport or activity, they know I will be there. I don't have to request time off or worry about not getting the time off to attend.

My girls are very understanding and I am very fortunate. I am the one who isn't so understanding. However, I know I have to work on my website.

Making Time For It

Many of us here have little ones that we are raising. No matter what the ages are, we have to juggle work (for those who work outside the home), house work and our parental duties.

Creating an online business will mean that we have to find a way to make time to work on it as well. This can be really stressful when we are just starting out.

Making time for it is possible though. You may have to rearrange your schedule, stay up a little later or get up a little earlier.

If you truly want your business to be a successful one, you will figure it out. In the end, it will pay for the blood, sweat and tears that you put into it.

Parents and guardians are used to juggling schedules. Most of us are anyway. If you are new to it, you will figure it out. It will just take you some time.

I will never let anything or anyone come before my family, but I will also put the time needed into creating my business.

Take It With You

My rankings show that I have been busy. It isn't because I spend 24 hours a day at home on my laptop.

I have said this before in another post. Take it with you. Working on a cell phone can be quite challenging.

But, it can be done. When you are on the go you can still work at the same time. NO I do not mean, while you are driving.

You can do research, watch YouTube videos to get ideas, further training on getting traffic or anything to do with your online business, even watch the training videos from here at W A.

I even used my cell for part of this post. Just because you aren't at home, doesn't mean you can't get some work in.

When I go to my older daughters games, meets or tournaments, I will have my cell and my tablet so that I can still get some work in.

If you truly want it bad enough and you believe in it, you can and will make it happen. It is up to you to do it.

You have the best training, tools and a community that you will not find anywhere else. The only thing holding you back from success, will be you.

Now Git-R-Done

I know you can do it and you know you can do it. If you ever have a question, need some encouragement or just need some advice, turn to this wonderful community.

I am willing to bet that what ever challenge it is that you are facing, someone here has faced it as well and are willing to tell you how they made it through.

If you have any comments, questions or advice, please do leave them down below. I love hearing them and so do others.

Don't forget about that "like" button. It lets me know that you like it even When you weren't able to comment.

I wish you all, the best in all you do

You just haven't reached the point yet where your online business requires a little less time. That's when we will see the freedoms of online business and the ability to spend more time with the ones we love! Keep reaching!

You are right Christine : )
I know I will get there eventually.
Thank you for your kind words.
I really do appreciate your caring and insight : )
Lee Ann

I don't have children but I respect the job of parenthood. I know the challenges I face in life...just can't imagine adding kids to the mix. Plus...you're getting the job done here. Impressive!
Debbie

Thank you Debbie.
No matter if we have children or not, we all face different obstacles just in life in general. How we handle them is what makes us unique : )
You are facing your challenges and you are here. That tells me you know what you want and you will reach that goal.

Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Yeah... the struggles of a mother....Thank you for reminding me I need to carve out time for what’s important.

Let’s git ‘er done!

Laura

Thank you Laura
That is to funny.
I was hoping someone would find humor in that phrase : )

I totally understand and feel for you. When I was raising my girls years ago, I worked swing 12-hour shifts that rotated days and nights and had a lot of overtime. Even though I was lucky enough to have my parents take care of them a lot, there was still a lot of guilt when I couldn't be with them as much as I wanted.

I'm so glad now that I'm able to work part time and help my daughter with my grandson while she works. The circle of life!

You're a great example to your kids to show them how to work hard to reach your goals, and it sounds like they understand that very well. So you're doing great!

Janelle

Aww,
That is awesome Janelle.
I know how you love being able to help her and spend time with him as well.

It really doesn't matter where we work or the hours we have to put in.

What we give our children when we are with them stays with them when we are away as well.

Even though you weren't there as much as you would like to have been, they new what you did was for them.

Now, it is their turn and guess who is still there for them? Yup, you. Their wonderful mother.

Thank you for sharing and for your kind words. I love seeing you .
I hope all is good with you.

Sorry to hear about your predicament, I know it is difficult to get away from WA especially if you are on line.., but I am finding that I need to put time limits on and prioritize my time.

I will get through it.
Once I get through this 12 month challenge, I think it will be a little easier.
And I agree about need to give myself time limits. There is so much to do that isn't done on WA, yet it has to do with our business, if we don't set a limit then the other stuff will not get done.
The problem I have is no structure. No routine. It drives me crazy and I get side tracked : 0

I know you will figure it out as well my friend. I have faith in you.
Thank you for reading and for your comment.
I really appreciate it.
Lee Ann

wishing you well and thank you

I have extra kiddos this month so I understand the challenge all to well. I did great with my 10 year old granddaughter but this active 4 year old has thrown me for a loop this month. She requires constant attention and a lot of help.
Don't get me wrong she is great and is giving me so many ideas for stories. Just no time to write them. I just haven't found her off button yet!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Ahh how fun that is.
At least she is keeping you on your toes : )
You are such a good grandmother and I am sure they appreciate it.
You too will get through it. I have complete faith in you.

I relive this in my grandchildren. Lee Ann!

That is awesome, isn't it : )
It can be challenging either way.
Thank you for sharing with us.

Hi Lee Ann, I think every parent feels guilty when your kids are small and at home. I don’t have that problem, but I am usually in a lot of pain in my hands. I try to do my lessons everyday when I feel good. I think you are doing a wonderful thing for your family that they will appreciate later. Your doing an awesome job, and I love your blog.

Aww. I am sorry Michelle.
Another friend of mine on here have issues with the same thing. A couple of them actually.

You should check to see if your computer has a dictation program on it.

Then you don't have to type as much. I am sure it will take some getting used to, but if it helps with the pain, it will be worth it.

Thank you for your kind words. I hope you have more good days than bad. : )

Thank you Lee Ann I will look into that program.

No problem my friend.
You can even go to "ask a question" through the help center and see what program others recommend. Kyle even uses one and has talked about it.
I will see if I can find out as well. I use a MAC laptop and it has a program, but I haven't really used it yet.

I will so some searching and let you know what I find.
What device do you do most of your work on?

Ok thanks

I relate strongly to what you wrote. My daughter was 7 months old when I joined WA and it wasn't easy. I felt guilty all the time and still do.
When she was 2, I decided to spend less time writing my blog, knowing that the consequences for my website would not be good.

I have wonderful memories and pictures to help me remember that period. She's turning 4 next week and just started going to the daycare and I haven't given up on my website. It's been waiting for me to be ready.

I personally don't have much time for anything related to social activities within WA and try to put most of my work time into my blog.

I just wanted to let you know that I admire you for raising 5 children, working at the same time, being involved in their activities and help them grow to become great adults. You know that they are more important than anything.

People around me find my online work pretty unusual and most think that it's not a real job, exactly as raising a kid at home...

So when I feel guilty of not being there playing with her, I tell myself that by choosing this professional path I am teaching her that she can achieve anything she wants even when others will doubt her.

I wish you all the best!

C,
Let those who don't believe in you or what you are doing, just keep thinking that way.

You will make it successful one day and when you do, make sure you have a camera ready so you can get their picture of their jaw hitting the floor.

You are doing an awesome job with your daughter and with your website.

Not being active here just means that you are putting that much more time into what is most important, YOUR business.

I am rooting for you my friend and I have complete faith in you. After all, look at what you have been through already and you are still here : )

Hi, Lee Ann. Great post. I agree, part of parenting is feeling guilty when we can't be two places at once. My son just turned 40, but I still remember feeling guilty when I had to spend time at work instead of playing with him.

In a way, I'm grateful that my parenting days were over before I discovered WA. I should have more time to devote to it, but life does get in the way. Working on getting my house ready to sell has kept me busier than I would have wanted this summer, but now that the pictures have been taken and the house is on the market, I should have more time for writing content. Have been working on one this afternoon. Have to go to choir practice tonight, so might not get it completely finished with images, but at least I'm back on track, and that feels SO good!

Have a great day. Carol

Yay! I was actually thinking about you today. Our electric was off most of the day. It went off no sooner than I hit publish on this post.
It happens all the time here. They said it is to improve their service. We will see.

I am so glad that you finally back. I have missed seeing you my friend.

I am actually planning on still being here when my last little bird leaves our nest.

I am going to need something to keep my mind busy : )

Thank you for sharing your story and for your kind words. Welcome back my friend.

Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Thanks, Lee Ann. It's nice to know I've been missed. My house if FINALLY on the market, and I can relax more now. Started some long overdue research to complete what I started before I got so busy with the house today. Didn't get much done because I kept getting interrupted, but it feels good to have my notes on my desk ready for me to dive in and start writing the post that's been rolling around in my head for awhile!
