Finding Your Voice
Last Update: Feb 26, 2023
Hello WA!
Time for another mind blowing post from yours truly. LOL
So let's get right to it.
Finding your voice can be difficult for some when they are starting up their website for the very first time.
Have you ever been in a room full of people and you can identify who that person is by hearing their voice without seeing them.
Well, that's how people react that comes to your website. Your voice is part of your brand and you must convey the same attitude but in the written format . This is when sentence structure, grammar , regional which includes urban, rural, and suburban styles of speech.
And let's not forget generation style of speech like baby boomers, generations x, y, z and millennials. Yeah I know millennials and generation y are the same.
My way of finding of finding the correct voice for my post is this: first I READ IT OUTLOUD-many of us has done this, don't like how it sounds or reads then delete a perfectly good post-before you press that delete button DO THIS : edit the message if you noticed i said message , check the way it appear. do you have spaces between your paragraphs to emphasize pauses. Certain words need their font change to emphasize quotes, books, sources , etc. Remember that is how your customers know its you by the way the website sounds, in my example presented, layout what-have you. I like Grammarly to help me with this , others may use some other app. Use which one you are comfortable with. This reminds me of THE LIFETIME MOVIES about when the murderer texts everyone telling them they are alright and someone chimes in "that don't sound like them or they don't write like that.
Your voice will change throughout the post.
Your voice change through out your post because it depends on how you present your material... for example when I am inserting graphs, spreadsheets and what not... I switch to my calm and authoritative voice at the same presenting it with a touch of my style. That in turn makes your post sound more natural and HUMAN.
I think Kyle was saying the same just a little different in his VOICE. Humanizing your website is a MUST to stand apart from others within the same niche. And another thing your target audience (niche) will find you.
Now I must say goodbye and put in practice everything I preach!
