Change is scary sometimes - even when the change is for the better.
If You Want It You Must Accept the Risk...
That is the way it works.
You will never know what is possible for you if you do not at least TRY.
Starting your own business online or off - whether affiliate marketing or something else - means taking a risk.
But in the case of affiliate marketing, and most online businesses and income production opportunities - the real risks are minimal.
It doesn't risk life or limb... unlike our friends in the picture above!
Nor does it risk much money either, comparatively speaking.
You do not need a commercial office, a business license, an LLC, liability insurance, or expensive equipment.
Compare that to starting a trucking company for example. If you want to buy your own truck and become an owner operator, a decent used Freightliner Cascadia (say a 2015 or so) will run you about $35,000 to $40,000 - and you will need a trailer too. The trailer would be another $10000 to $17500 for a good used dry van, then you will need an LLC, a local business license - DOT authority and MC number, etc.- And then a few hundred more dollars for miscellaneous stuff that you will need and want to get started.
Let's not forget - just to get the authority to operate - you need mandatory liability insurance of at least $750,000 or more - and that runs about $1000 to $1500 plus per MONTH!
To even launch your trucking business you have thousands of dollars to invest upfront - whether you do it with your own money or go into debt to do it.
Even then you need a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) which is a few more thousand dollars of tuition and a few more bucks in fees and a month or more of training - then you will need enough experience to have at least a chance of success in trucking.
Did I mention the potential fines? Screw something up - like forget to join a drug testing consortium or fail to keep the related records and the fines are in the thousands! Plus as an added bonus your authority to operate can be revoked and you are out of business - but still on the hook for all the other costs.
As you can see that's a lot of RISK - and that's all before you get a chance to make the first dollar too...
By the way, trucking can be a great career as a company driver or business opportunity as an owner operator or even as a fleet owner - but the point is you have a MUCH higher level of risk compared to any online business.
An effective owner operator can gross around $1000 to as much as $2400 per day too - so that can be very good money and for some, it makes it well worth the risk and all the hard work needed to earn that much money. There are many other perks and benefits of all kinds with owning a trucking business of your own too - if you know what you are doing and if you are willing to work both harder and smarter than most people ever will.

As we have already discussed starting an online business is very cost affordable and very low risk compared to many other options.
The skills you will learn will also help you do better in ANY other kind of business too.
You need to learn how to market your business, how to recruit other people into it, and to come work with you in some capacity, and you need to learn better communication skills of all kinds. These skill sets are needed to help you do better in all aspects of business.
Affiliate Marketing and Digital Marketing will help you learn how to do these things and do them better. As you begin to make progress and make money - and you WILL - if you do the work and stick with it - parlay that success to the next level by reinvesting most of your initial earning back into your business.
That may be back into more advanced training, coaching, consulting, mentoring, and such other resources as you can find through WA and through other resources too.
Keep learning and keep working to do better and keep on doing that over and over again so you keep moving forward and making real progress.
Choices Determine Your Destiny
You have many choices to make every day.
Today you have another choice to consider - keep doing what you have always been doing - or take a chance and go for something you want and TRY to do it!
Luckily for you, starting, building, and growing an online business is an Income Production Opportunity that has all kinds of options and that does not take much money or much real risk to try.
Even then there are PROVEN principles, methods, and tactics that absolutely do work (IF YOU DO THE WORK) and that will make you some money with absolute certainty.
Then use that money to continue building (parlay) your own business to make more and more money. You do that with additional training and by investing in marketing, in hiring other people (VA's, ICA's, Affiliates, etc.) s you need them and as you can afford to do so.
That is the simple formula that works and that will help you Build Your Own business Empire too - IF you choose it and if you actually do the work.
So the question is - do you want to do better bad enough to do things differently or not?

Fear can definitely put a dampner on what many of us wish to achieve.
As for risk, if we look at successful business people, then they have always risked something when trying to move forward.
Sometimes we lose, look back on what we have risked and think, 'why the hell did I do that'! I have a few times with different business ventures! (These stories are for another day)!
But does that mean we are failures?
Absolutely not! I would feel like a failure if I stopped there. Instead, I tell myself, let's try another path, if that fails, another one!
Without trying and changing things up when it is needed, success will be very hard to come by.
The way I see it is you are never a failure - until and if you QUIT TRYING and quit making progress.
Of course, there are some things you do have to get right the first time - like skydiving - or the penalties are severe and potentially fatal - but other than those extreme things - everything else is a potential earning experience.
Try - do better - rinse and repeat.

There are so many other things that we need to consider if we go offline
What are also the chances that we will be successful when we don't have enough money and our competitors, who sometimes may be just beside us, is doing very well.
Here now, at Wealthy Affiliate, we have all the tools we need to be successful.
We just need to open our minds to receive them and ask for help when we need it
There are great opportunities here - and even then the things that can be learned and applied will help any other business to - whether that be trucking, real estate investing, or anything else.

Definitely a whole bunch of points you've made there that I agree with 100%-I have a mate back home in NZ who right now is still trying to decide which PHYSICAL business he wants to buy/invest in.
His hope, is to find just the right small business, that will allow him to have job 'freedom' by working in the store mainly by himself all week!
This way of thinking just baffles me a little in this day and age, & with what we've gone through with covid etc, it's definitely time for a major shift in thinking for many-especially in terms of how we make money.
