I have an idea about a niche, it is not my passion, it is not something that I use or ever hope I have to use, but it is something we all face. I am thinking about doing someth

Theirs a big world out their anything is possible. Never say never

The thing I am wondering here is, how many of those elderly will be going online looking for to read the kind of content you would like to write on your site.

It's just a thought that came up to me when reading your question.

I'm not saying that it is a bad idea, but I wonder if there is an audience.

When writing this I'm thinking about my parents who are not really much into computers... let alone the internet.

But maybe there are more elderly than I think who are going online... so in that case maybe it would not be such a bad idea after all.

That is a good thought. I think I was leaning more toward return customers who order the same thing monthly. But the more I learn, the more I am thinking this might not be the way to go. Thank you for your input.

You're welcome Lynette

I would say that since you are thinking about it then it us something you care about. Ask yourself if it is something you can write many posts about and always be engaging.

My vote is to always go with your passion, because it is your passion that will motivate you in the morning when you get up in start your routine. It is your passion that that will get you to sit down in front of your computer write a new post for your blog. It is your passion that will get you an extra incentive to jot down ideas for your niche website. Your passion will be on your mind much more than what a particular need might be. So definitely go with your passion......you won't regret it.

I hope that helps you.

You will need to write multiple posts on your website. If this niche is not a passion, you might have trouble finding related subjects to write about. Nicole

When you say, "for the elderly..." what exactly are you focusing on?
I would say it's a good idea to have at least some very mild interest in it... or it will get very dull to write about.
Can you envisage writing several posts a week on it, for the next several years?
You also need to be sure that you have enough content to write on the topic.
You can also consider outsourcing writing, (if you're not that interested in it, but think it could be profitable). All the best! Nat

I hadn't thought about the outsourcing option. I think it would be a good idea to create this website but at the same time, it would be more like products for the elderly. I might be jumping the gun, but isn't that what we are doing? Creating websites that sell things so we get paid? I had no idea we would be doing so much blogging and article writing. Looks like I have a lot to learn. Thank you for this input and I appreciate any more you have.

Hi, yes creating websites with the aim of earning commissions via affiliate marketing... but it's not just like an online shop, (which you could do with an e-commerce type site)... you need to write a lot of articles targeting keywords that rank in the search engines and therefore, yet you do need to write a lot of content. If you were doing products for the elderly, you would target product reviews, but you'd also be likely writing about issues that relate to using the products.
Anyway, I see you just joined in Feb - so, I won't confuse you too much!
The best thing to do, is go through the training.
Your first niche is very rarely your last, so you can set up anything as practice and it's all a learning experience. :)

Yup I'm a newbie. I do appreciate your information although. I wasn't totally sure what this whole process was going to be and what you said makes so much sense. I now understand an important factor. One needs to write content and blogs to drive up the SEO correct? This make more sense now. And I agree, the website I am starting won't be my last niche. Thank you for this very valuable info. Every newbie should hear what you just said. SUPER BIG THUMBS UP!

Is this for your first website?

For my first site, I chose a niche that I was only mildly interested in, but I had a lot to write about at the time. I didn't think too hard about my first niche because I just wanted something to use to go through the training with and I didn't really care if it turned out hugely successful or not.

I figured, after learning more, I could choose a niche that I was more passionate about and start off more confidently with it after having already made another website.

Is this niche something that you could see yourself writing at least 50 blog posts about? Maybe even 100?

I haven't updated my first website in over a year because I decided to move on to what I was more interested in, but I still get checks from it most months. I was able to produce a fair amount of content on it before I stopped working on it though.

With a premium membership, you can have more than one website, so I would go ahead and try out your idea if it's something you think you can write about for a little while.

Good luck!

WOW this was great information! Yes I am working on my first website. When you said can I write 50-100 blog posts about this, it really made me think. And it might be a struggle to do so. I like that you stated you are still getting checks from the first website. That is great information as well.
